                HER BROWS RAISE,   expression showing confusion at the question before it turns skeptical in the moment that follows.  She crosses her arms,  head tilting slightly to one side as she looks up at him.  It’s an odd question,  to be certain -- but one to which she’s fairly certain he already knows the answer.  “Have you been drinking?”

                THE INITIAL CONTACT COMES AS A SURPRISE,    and she won’t deny that she’s a little  startled  at first,  though she’s quick to cover it up.  Her eyes fix on those of the other woman,  brows arching the slightest bit as Siobhan turns toward her.  Her gaze is curious,  mildly questioning,  bordering on  playful  for a moment.  While this isn’t  completely  new,  as of the recent past... it’s a little out of the ordinary --- but certainly not unwelcome.  The playfulness returns when she finally speaks,  somehow a little more relaxed than she’s been the past few nights,  and a slight smile begins to make its way across her lips.  “Can I help you?”

                 SHE’S A LITTLE SURPRISED    by the question,  but the only indication is a slight arch of her brow.  “No,”  she replies with a little shrug.  “Although your grandmother was completely unconvinced of that back then,  and I’m pretty sure she still is now.”

                THE QUESTION CATCHES HER BY SURPRISE,    and for a moment she looks up from the dishes she’s washing,  pausing to just stare at her friend for a moment.  Then she returns to the washing,  suppressing a little sigh.  She definitely hadn’t planned on telling anyone else this early on,  but she’s not about to deny it either.  “What gave it away?”

                GLANCING OVER HER SHOULDER,    a look caught somewhere between surprise and annoyance flashes through Siobhan’s eyes before it’s quickly replaced by mild amusement.  It’s still early, and not entirely awake yet,  she’s less self-conscious than she would have been otherwise --- although to be fair,  it isn’t like it’s anything he hasn’t seen before.  “You know,  it’s usually considered polite to knock first,”  she comments dryly,  suppressing a yawn.

                HER EYES FOCUS ON HIM    immediately after hearing the statement,  and for a moment she’s pulled out of the guilt she’s been dwelling on,  her expression softening a little as her eyes meet his.  “What makes you think I’m not happy?”  It almost feels silly to ask.  She can’t even deny it to herself --- she’s not happy,  and yet even thinking about trying to let go of her current life  ( and of Hari ) --- it  hurts  more than she wants to admit.

                SHE ISN’T WRONG,    but Siobhan hadn’t exactly expected anyone to notice that anything was wrong,  she had thought herself to be doing a rather good job of hiding it.  Clearly she had been wrong.  

                “I suppose you’re right,”  she admits quietly,  smiling softly at the girl.  And it had helped,  surprisingly --- even if it’s only a little,  she does feel better.  Good intentions can go a long way,  she supposes.

                  SHE’S KNOWN FROM THE BEGINNING    that what she’s doing is dangerous,  yet she’s pushed that thought away,  chosen not to acknowledge it.  She supposes it’s only been a matter of time before someone got a bit too rough with her.  She had made her escape from the hotel room as soon as she could,  finding the nearest bathroom back downstairs by the bar to try to determine the extent of the damage.

                  With her back to the mirror,  she glances over her shoulder,  frowning at the already darkening bruise she finds there.  At least it’s something she can easily cover --- they all are,  she quickly determines.  It’s a small bit of relief. 

                  She’s initially startled out of her thoughts by the sound of a familiar voice,  though a slight frown forms on her lips as she quickly pulls her jacket on over her dress.  Suspicious  might be a bit of an understatement,  especially if anyone else were to see.  Siobhan shrugs slightly,  turning toward the mirror again to wipe some of the smeared mascara from under her eyes.  “Well I’m blaming me,”  she replies quietly.  She’s known all along what she’s getting herself into --- who else is there to blame?

                “THAT DEPENDS    on how loosely you want to define  ‘showering’,  I think.”  She gives her friend an amused little smirk,  and for a moment her expression borders on cheeky.  “If you want to define it as simply the act of being in a shower with another person,  then yes,”  she adds with a slight nod.  “Though usually there’s not much actual showering happening...”
