okay yall i never post and just usually like a bunch of fandom content like a spectator, but now i feel like i need to speak up since the RM fandom has been getting a lot of hate on twitter, and now it’s coming onto tumblr. ive been in the snk fandom since early 2016 and i remember asking the small number of friends i had online/at school who they liked in snk together; they said rivamika. at the time i wasn’t into the manga, but saw a watchmojo vid that called levi an ackerman, so i assumed mikasa and levi were cousins and i immediately called my friends out saying how levi and mikasa were incest, but realized a few weeks later how wrong i was (LOL GOD I WISH I COULD TAKE THAT BACK)

i read the data book not long after and realized mikasa and levi are 3rd cousins, so i thought it wasn’t wrong bc this isn’t real life, snk literally a fictional world taking place in the past with child soldiers. nobody has time to worry abt age gaps? it felt weird shipping rivamika, as i personally wouldn’t go for someone related (albeit distantly) to me or with a significant age gap, but levi and mikasa just seem to make sense? i would’ve shipped jeank*sa more if we were given more content of them, but rivamika makes sense. last two members of an almost extinct clan, who are male and female, who happen to be in the military together, who aren’t closely related? levi, who’s watched and contributed to her growth as a person? it just makes sense; their entire dynamic just makes sense. also with grooming, i don’t think it’s grooming bc levi hasn’t made a pass or any sexual/romantic advances towards her. also rivetra has a big age gap so why is the age gap between levi and mikasa a huge problem? levi probably met petra when she was younger, and other age gap couples exist in snk (erens parents) and in real life, some celebrities have big age gap relationships. (correct me if i’m wrong lol) rivamika has a similar dynamic to most ships i enjoy (not gonna list to ruin tags, might share in the future tho)

seeing all the hate on twitter makes me sad, and the arguments are just plain stupid and ignorant, as if ppl don’t read the manga. i felt like i had to speak up. in real life, i tell people i ship erem*ka/jeank*sa (i don’t mind these ships, but i prefer RM) to not be judged bc i get how people would misunderstand rivamika, like how i once did. nowadays lots of people watch snk for the trend (especially those on tiktok) and these “fans” can be quite ignorant, hypocritical, and harsh (ex: anime-only gabi haters who say she deserves to get m*lested) i feel like rivamika shippers are super chill and accepting, and i don’t think we deserve this :(

also for the whole incest thing.. izumi and itachi were from the same clan, people don’t have a problem with it, but have a problem with RM... okay then
