sometimes you start to wonder what the historical record for the guys you made up looks like in the fictional world where they existed. and then you make some fake documents about it.

hey icha! i’m looking to get into FF7 and, outside of the original game, have no idea where to start! so i turn to your expertise for help, if you’re willing. what game(s?) and films should i play/watch to best understand all the lore? and in what order? no pressure to answer of course and i hope you have a wonderful day either way!
omg hi nonny!! a pleasure to see you there! and so sweet to see you trust me with this DLKFJDLKFD
a friend asked some tips to get into ff7 a while back as well as a few links so i'm linking this to you as well hoping it may serve you!
If you want to be sure to get the lore in order of how everyone got it, you can watch it in release order, but, in my opinion without specifically entering into details, i would recommend in order:
-The Original Game (1997). This is where everything started. Every single other entry in the saga will spoil this game in some way or another. Even the remake is taking a lot of liberties (+ isn't covering everything anyway yet) and has been spoiling events that will happen further in game all over. So, OG it goes. (it exists in every plateform, from PS1 to ps4 remaster to Steam, if you want to play it the graphisms and translations will be best on latest versions. Watching it is a possibility as well but since the game is pretty old and not voiced it could get boring + some scenes can differ depending on who you have in your party and some of your choices and personally i'm never content with the playthrough i find DLKFJDF.)
-Crisis Core (2007). It is a prequel Game to the Original Game and a lot of the others entries have been incorporating the new elements from Crisis Core into it. A Must play/watch. (personally would recommend playing because the gameplay is good and is used to give you emotions and i think that's the best kind of gameplay- it's a PSP exclusive though but i think you can find it on Emulator online. Watching it works as well, just know a lot of lore are hiden in details in this game that often escapes cutscenes movies. + if you watch a cutscene movie you will not know who Kunsel is and that's criminal.)
-Advent Children Complete (2009). It's the direct sequel movie to the Original Game. The movie originally came out in 2005 (with an OAV called "Last Order" to sum up the events of Crisis Core - this OAV is now outdated and not canon due to the extension Crisis Core was, but it can still be an interesting watch for you (+ it's like 20mins long)) but got a remaster called "Advent Children Complete" in 2009 that included new scenes, some of which referred more to events from Crisis Core, which is why i recommend CC first. The 2009 version also came with an OAV called "Denzel Episode" which just explains a bit more about a character from AC that left people confused back in 2005. Complete expend on the character so it's not as confusing but you may want to check out Denzel Episode if you're curious! (but yeah check the Complete version not the normal 2005 one, Complete is superior in every single way and is leaving 2005 in the dust).
-Dirge of Cerberus (2006). It's a sequel game to Advent Children. this one has a bad rep in the fandom because the plot isn't executed at its best, but a lot of the lore developed in it has been important to the saga later. It came out before CC so its lore influenced CC, but not in a way where it has to be played before (in fact i think it's a bit more impactful with watching DOC afterward). The major lore developed in DOC has also been incorporated into the remake. It's worth checking out. (personally only watched a cutscene movie that was relatively short (4 hours long i think??). Can't say if there's more interest playing it but it's a 3rd person shooter and apparently the gameplay is really tedious. the game came out in PS2 and you can find it on emulator eventually).
-The Remake (2020). The remake has been remaking the beginning of the OG so far (it will come out in multiple parts) while incorporating the lore of all the others entries of the game and including a lot of original stuff into it. It's not a complete redux however and i would loath to spoil but the remake isn't actually exactly a remake in some ways, and works as a continuation to the saga. It makes sense if you played the game but i can't explain it too hard without entering too much spoilers territories. (you can easily watch it off youtube but yeah else it's fun to play i have no doubt and it's a clever reimagining of the OG while taking the rest of the plot into account)
Those are the major parts of the saga that are worth taking into account and to check.
I should also mention that a mobile game called Before Crisis came out near DOC at some point and is set during the CC period while covering lore elements revealed in DOC. This game however has only ever been released in Japan so a lot of what /we/ westerners know about it is from wikis and stuff like that. Mostly i don't know if it's NECESSARY to know about it, it's mostly that the game will connect the lore from CC and DOC in a more obvious way. Only read about it if you're really hardcore into FF7. (for the funfact, some of the characters from Before Crisis make an appearance in the OAV Last Order)
That would be all i would mention about it :3c it can seem like a lot so take your time and don't let it overwhelms you. Start with the OG, have fun with it, and then if you want to expand on it take it one step at a time. You can even disregard my order if it's easier for you to, say, watch the movie before CC or whatever- i gave you my spoiler-free reasoning as for why that order anyway, so it's up to you if you want to follow through.
i am so happy that you feel like getting into ff7 though!! i hope you enjoy the ride <3
Take it easy, and take care :3c
Wishing you a wonderful day!

Okay, I will sort after Pokémon Generations and not Stray Kids age in this one because it feels weird to start with gen 6 for example and then change to Gen 4 xD
Also I’ll insert pictures of the starter Pokémon and their evolutions, since they are a big part of every game, but that’s it. But I'll do that in the next ask fjdjdj it won't let me add pictures here. Sometimes I might add a picture of something else as well. It’s not based on anything, it’s just the vibes I get. And I’ll sort from both, Generation and Region. Sometimes they remake an older Game in a Generation, so if this is something that influences my choice, I’ll talk about that too, but it’s mostly about the Region itself.
4 of those were pretty easy to choose while the other 4 weren’t that difficult to choose, but kinda hard to explain. I hope it’s still understandable. Also I’ll talk about the starters with their name. The fire starter will have a red name, water blue and grass green. Most of the time that’s also the color of the Pokémon as well, but if not, they have something else to them that makes it obvious if they are fire, water or grass type.
Anyways, here I go:
Chan as Kanto//Gen 1
Now obviously Chan gets the OG. The one game everything started with. The region the company adores the most.
Okay well, I didn’t choose Chan as Kanto for being the first Region, but rather because of the vibes. Just like any other Anime, Pokémon has a new Intro for every new season and the one Chan sang/listened to was the first one both times! Sure, this doesn’t say much since it’s also the most well known and probably best intro (Just saying, I like Johto, Unbeatable, I want to be a hero and the XYZ remake as well lol), but still. My other reason are the starters!
There are several pictures of Chan with anything Squirtle related. One of them even used to be my wallpaper. But Charmander as well. I’ve seen many people compare him to Charmander. Charmander who is that one Pokémon (besides Pikachu ofc) that everyone knows. Or at least his evolution Charizard. Charizard is also the Pokémon the company loves the most and in the Anime, Charizard often did his own thing, ignoring what his “Boss” told him to do. He would just casually fight back. Besides that, remember the Pokémon I showed you yesterday? Dragonite? Well, Dragonite and Charizard have the same color scheme, so that fits as well.
But now we’ll come to the rather bad things about it. So trigger warning; the hate Chan gets. Kanto being the start of everything makes Pokémon fans love and respect the region, even though it’s not their favourite. At least that’s what you’d think. Kanto is one of the most controversial regions. There are people saying everything but Kanto is shit and there are others, saying Kanto is shit for not being as balanced as newer games and for having many glitches. With Chan it’s kinda similar. Chan gets lots of hate, despite him being a great person and the one who basically created Stray Kids. But still, he gets hate simply for not being perfect, which he can’t be. I could definitely go deep here, but this is not what this is about, so I’ll move on to the next Generation now.
Seungmin as Johto//Gen 2
This one is a bit harder to explain, but it’s just the vibes I get. Seungmin reminds me a lot of end of spring/start of summer and I get the same vibes from Johto! Chikorita and its evolution line alone remind me of Seungmin. Its without a doubt thee weakest starter, not just in Johto, but overall. I chose it anyways, because it looks freaking adorable. And I was surprised. This Chikorita was the MVP of many fights, even though it should have been way weaker since it had a type disadvantage.
Johto has always been a kinda relaxing place for me. I don’t really know why, but just the whole vibe I get from Johto is relaxing. I didn’t play the original games and only half of the remakes, but I watched the anime and I remember falling in love with it. Especially with the theme song. It helped me through some rough times in my childhood, just like my brother did and Seungmin reminds me a lot of my brother.
Also, the box art legends of the game (Lugia and Ho-Oh) remind me of Seungmin because of their lore. Lugia lives underwater since it doesn’t want to disturb anyone by flapping its wings since it’s said that even if it only flaps with them one time, there will be a storm for 40 days. Ho-Oh on the other hand is a Phoenix that will only appear in front of people with a pure heart and show them its wings which will make them lucky. I honestly don’t know why, but both of these stories remind me of Seungmin. But as I said, this one was a bit harder to explain since it’s just the vibes I got.
Felix as Hoenn//Gen 3
Before I start, I love the Hoenn Games xD
Well, anyways. This one was pretty easy to choose and this is where remakes get important. Because in Generation 3, the Kanto Games were remade, which gives us a connection between Chan and Felix. But Hoenn Games were remade as well, in Generation 6, which was the Gen that REALLY got me into Pokémon. Just like Felix alongside with another member got me into Stray Kids. But of course that’s not the only reason.
Felix is that one member that gets so many people into Stray Kids with his deep voice and his visuals and just everything. And just like Felix is many peoples entrance to Stray Kids, Hoenn was the first game of many Pokémon fans. Also, Hoenn is well-known for its iconic music, just like Felix is well-known for his iconic voice. And this might be a bit of a stretch, but Hoenn games are the only games where you can dive. And first of all, being deep under the sea looks so good. But also, deep under the water? Deep voice? You get it.
I also like to think that Felix doesn’t get as much Hate. I know he still gets Hate, but luckily from what I’ve seen not as much. The same is true for Hoenn Games. There’s only one thing people don’t like, which is the amount of water in the games. But other than that, Hoenn Games are loved in the Pokémon Community, which means a lot, because the Pokémon Community is never satisfied.
I used to play the Hoenn Remakes a lot with my friends. Just like I talk a lot about Felix with my friends.
Also I might be wrong but I think Gen 3 was when people really started playing Pokémon competitively and I mean, Felix is a competitive gamer.
Hyunjin as Sinnoh//Gen 4
Ever since 2014/2015, people wanted Sinnoh back in forms of Remakes. Just like we want Hyunjin back right now. And we’ll get them. They were announced a bit earlier this year and not just once, but twice! We’ll get one of them at the end of this year and the second one in the beginning of next year.
But before I say anything else, Furret.
While it isn’t a Gen 4 Pokémon, it’s treated like one. There is a meme about the Furret walking animation until we get the remakes xD
And I don’t think I’ll have to say that a Pokémon called Furret is based on a Ferret? And that it’s fluffy and everyone wants to hug it? Okay, sorry. But despite being a Ferret, it’s also a surprisingly big Pokémon. Whenever people talk about unexpected Pokémon sizes, Furret comes up. It’s not amongst the biggest Pokémon, but it’s still hella big and I want a life-sized plush of it. Aaand I just checked, it’s roughly the size of Hyunjin lmao.
Why am I still talking about Furret? Well, the other reason why I think it fits Hyunjin is the lore! Gen 4 might be the Generation with the most lore we ever got. We were introduced into the God of Pokémon, Arceus (and before someone says he’s a bad God for being able to be caught by a 10 year old, you can’t catch him if you don’t cheat.) and the creation trio. We got to know how the Pokémon world was created, how every life was created and so on. And Hyunjin is life. Okay, I’m sorry, I’ll try to be more serious again. We also got 3 mythical Pokémon, with great myths behind them. We have the nightmare Pokémon Darkrai, which isn’t a bad guy at all. He looks like one in the spin off games, but he isn’t. He stays away from people since he can’t control his power and doesn’t want to cause people to be trapped in nightmares (some pokémon lore is really dark), which reminds me of Hyunjin who stays away a bit to not hurt anyone. Then we have Cresselia, who is the opposite of Darkrai. She makes people dream great things and is the only one to be able to save others from Darkrais Nightmares. And my best dreams feature Hyunjin. And last but not least we have Shaymin, a big Cutie and the thankful Pokémon. I’m Hyunjin very thankful and he’s thankful for Stays as well.
Also, the whole generation just feels very cozy and it’s another fan favorite.
Changbin as Unova//Gen 5
Easy choice. First of all, the games are called “Black and White” and I mean, Changbin and black? Perfect mix. Next is the fire Starter, Tepig! It’s a pig and it evolves into an even bigger wrestler pig and is therefore bulky. Also funfact, Black was my first game ever! Or more like, the game of my brother. But he let me play it and my first Pokémon ever was a Tepig I gave the name of my old cat!
Now, while it was my first Pokémon game ever, I never really played it. I mean, I played about half of it maybe? When I was a kid, but I didn’t pay attention to the story. And afterwards I only tried once playing it again, but I didn’t know where I have to go, so I stopped again quickly. And right now I just don’t feel like playing it.
However, when people now talk about the game now, they talk about it in a kinda dark way, just like people see Changbin as an intimidating person. But I remember some of the most soft and cute parts ever. Just dressing up my team and have them dance for me. Great.
And while Changbin wasn’t the one to introduce me into Stray Kids, he was the one that I felt connected to while I took a break from them. So just like I never really played Pokémon Black but always felt a close connection to it, Changbin never was my Bias nor Bias Wrecker, but I felt that connection.
Besides, the game is about ideals. We have those who follow their dreams and would do anything to pursue them and we have those who cling to the reality and give their best to make it even better. Kinda reminds me of Changbin.
Jeongin as Kalos//Gen 6
Before I say anything else, look at Fennekin who is based on a Fennec Fox. Very underrated. People hate it for the design of its evolution, but I think it’s pretty well-made. Also, competitively seen is Fennekin the best starter to choose from.
Now, Kalos is my baby. I always loved the region. It’s the game that got me into Pokémon, just like Jeongin got me into Stray Kids.
The problem people have with Gen 6 is the story, which I agree, is an important part. They scrapped a lot and left us with a big amount of unsolved mysteries. Maybe the most mysteries out of all games. However, I can excuse that. The lore we got is quite interesting and most people agree that it could have been the best story ever, based on the lore we got. Kalos was their first step into something brand new and the little things were done well. Just that one big part didn’t go well at all. It’s a small region, with not much to it and when I was new in the skz fandom, Jeongin didn’t have much either.
Also, Kalos is a beauty and cuteness based region and let’s be real here, Jeongin is a big cutie. And (it gets corny, be prepared) in Kalos they introduced Mega Evolution, which is an Evolution you can only use if you have a strong bond with your Pokémon.
Minho as Alola//Gen 7
Honestly, this was a harder one again. But I chose him for 1. Litten, the fire cat starter and 2. Because it’s a tropical region and I can see Minho laying on the beach with his sunglasses xD
The concept of this game is different. Something they haven’t done before. And while everyone in Stray Kids is different, I dare to say that Minho has something extra extra to himself.
And yea, that’s it tbh. I’m not the biggest Alola fan. It was fun and I would like to play the game again some time, but I prefer the other games by a lot.
Jisung as Galar//Gen 8
So first of all, we have 2 Pokémon lines that are based on music. Grookey being a drummer and Galarian Zigzagoon being based on the band Kiss. And Jisung is one of the Members who is a bit more connected to music in my opinion. Then, every Region had their own regional Rodent and Galar has a Squirrel! Not a Quokka sadly but look at its cheeks. Very cute.
Galar is based on the UK, where a friend of mine lives. I wanted to go there since I was like 7, but I never got to, which is why walking through the Pokémon version of the UK hit pretty close. Also, said friend reminds me a lot about Jisung. I can’t really describe why, I just think their personalities match.
That’s not much, but I honestly don’t know what else to say. These are my reasons xD
Oh wait, of course. Galar is the game that features some more of the memes in the fandom than the other games. It sometimes seems like the company doesn’t really look into the fandom since we don’t get much beta content and stuff, but them bringing the insiders in some of their games like they did in Galar shows us that they still listen! And I mean, Jisung is pretty funny, yk?
Okay yea, that’s about it. I hope that was understandable and made sense for you. Also I still wanna show you my Pokémon Plushies, but I can’t find some of them right now;-;
- 🐈
mhmm it made sense for me even tho i don't fully understand everything... you know what i mean? it's like- quite complicated but the way you describe everything is really logical!

THE POSITIVE & NEGATIVE; Mun & Muse - Meme.
fill out & repost ♥ This meme definitely favors canons more, but I hope OC’s still can make it somehow work with their own lore, and lil’ fandom of friends & mutuals. Multi-Muses pick the muse you are the most invested in atm. tagged by: @dansiere whom im care tagging: extremely informative meme for ppl who have lots of cross-over interactions, i encourage u to steal it from me anyway BUT @sternenteile @twelvians @stellamris @grandtales
My muse is:   canon / oc / au / canon-divergent / fandomless / complicated
Is your character popular in the fandom? YES / NO. [ he is a very, very minor NPC that i’ve essentially wrested from the game with my grubby hands; Gerson is a merchant NPC found in Waterfall, the third area of the game focused with water themes. he has less than 100 lines of dialogue (but jam-packed full of info) and doesn’t even have an overworld sprite. although noted to have a history with multiple major characters, it’s not often i’ve seen him be the main focus of any fanfics or art pieces. ]
Is your character considered hot™ in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK. [ put that faaaaaaaar away from me please tyty ]
Is your character considered strong in the fandom?  YES / NO / IDK. [ i personally believe that Gerson is a strong and potentially powerful monster with fighting capability that could rival some of the stronger Monsters in the Underground due to his background as a fighter during the Human-Monster War, but since has waned in both reputation and fighting skill. we never fight him in game and as such, will never see how he compares numerically, but it’s clear from his dialogue that he knows how to fight professionally/cleverly and would have given a hard challenge. ]
Are they underrated?  YES / NO / IDK. [ i mentioned before that Gerson has ties with lots of major characters - I hardly see it being put into action or talked about! i also have a soft spot for elder/older characters in general since they seem to be overlooked in favor for younger characters that carry the action of plots - which I understand and totally get, but I still like to put these characters out there for the sake of it ]
Were they relevant for the main story?  YES / NO.
Were they relevant for the main character? YES / NO / THEY’RE THE PROTAG. [ he was a funny merchant dude that said “wahaha” a whole bunch of times and carried a magnifying glass; sure he and Frisk would have been good friends after the golden ending but most people have forgotten about their interaction with Gerson once out of Waterfall ]
Are they widely known in their world? YES / NO. [ as one of the older if not oldest Monsters in the Underground, or from his reputation as the “Hammer of Justice” from wartime. he is also a historian and is noted to have written a few of the books in the Librarby. definitely known in the Underground, but probably only in that community ]
How’s their reputation?  GOOD / BAD / NEUTRAL. [ as mentioned before, a benefactor to the community and maybe even a sagely figure. a source of wisdom (even if cheeky) and a person of stability ]
How strictly do you follow canon?  — ehhhhhhhhhh both extremely canon compliant and then hands off the wheel, let jesus drive me away~ i only have so much canon material to work with so i have milked as much as offered to me, then went off to forge my own path in order to patch up the missing holes then add a few sprinkles. the base of the character is all there, but if you really want to get invested with him (or me) then we have a lot to walk through.
SELL YOUR MUSE! Aka try to list everything, which makes your muse interesting in your opinion to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —  old tortoise (NOT TURTLE) guy sells knick-knacks and cracks jokes, knows everyone’s dirty secrets but thinks they’re just funny to think about them than use them. an elder in the community who has stories to tell and lessons to teach, who has lived through half of recorded history and now spends his time just trying to make things around him interesting. a war veteran who protects his community and understands the horror of the world, but keeps eyes looking into the future even in the face of grimness itself. plays the accordion and harmonica, could probably square dance if he knew what that was. will call you kiddo.
Now the OPPOSITE, list everything why your muse could not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom perhaps think?).  —  little to no motivation to find a passion for himself that would benefit or service just himself; his entire sense of worth comes from servicing others in some way (being a soldier and protecting people; recording history in order to teach future generations; maintaining a shop in order to literally service others) and lack of action due to decrepitude in old age. close-minded compared to other Monsters, as he doesn’t actually take to think of humans or outsiders kindly; judgmental to the point of being racist. proud and dislikes being one-upped that it could lead to pettiness, and despite his positive outlooks, very pessimistic worldview.
What inspired you to rp your muse?  —  funfact: Gerson is my first tumblr RP muse ever, and since i was worried about duplicate anxiety when i first started i specifically wrote him since he was a smaller character with less attention - i’ve since learned i have no anxiety about it so it’s no longer a problem, but what keeps me going today is the challenge of writing someone so different from me. the elder aesthetic along with homely, almost cottagecore kind of vibe is also appealing, and the humor that comes with gerson is a joy to write out.
What keeps your inspiration going?  —  reading literature, music, artwork, pinterest, replaying the game, and doing little hobbies that would embody the character (collecting or sewing, for example) are things i can do by myself, but with other people i have the most drive when i can have friendly and nonpersonal arguments/debates about character motives or about source material like what made a character act like this or that, or about really anything as long as it makes me seriously think about characters critically and force me to recognize flaws.
Some more personal questions for the mun.
Give your mutuals some insight about the way you are in some matters, which could lead them to get more comfortable with you or perhaps not.
Do you think you give your character justice?  YES / NO / I SINCERELY HOPE I DO? [ unfortunately i’m not a tortoise monster who lived for probably centuries if not decades older than myself, but i enjoy writing older characters and hope that other ppl see the potential gerson has like i do ]
Do you frequently write headcanons?  YES / NO / SORT OF? [ you know when you have a concept and in your own mind you can see it clearly, without fuzziness or confusion, but you can’t seem to put it clearly into words without it turning into an essay because you need to connect all the other points that’s in the single concept you envisioned? yea. ]
Do you sometimes write drabbles?  YES / NO [ bro i should.. ]
Do you think a lot about your Muse during the day? YES / NO [ hmu if you got pinterest and i’ll give u tons and tons of boards ]
Are you confident in your portrayal?  YES / NO / SORT OF? [ this is unfair to answer as (AFAIK) i am the only person writing Gerson in... any capacity. despite that i like to think i bring out the humorous side of him, and show ppl that he and other NPCs are tons of potentials and shouldn’t be overlooked because they aren’t popular ]
Are you confident in your writing?  YES / NO. [ i always believed my style and my skill in not only PSDs or aesthetics, but analysis or understanding was always a bit plain, without much flourish or complexity. while that is appealing on its own and has its own merits, i can’t help but feel i can always push myself to do a little more, add a little flavor, or paint an image that could only be done in writing. although i am doing enough to get the job done, i’m searching for a certain voice of writing that i like and want to integrate into creative writing in order to make it more personalized and more engaging. ]
Are you a sensitive person?  YES / NO. / SORTA. [ i despise pussyfooting and will often tell ppl straight up if i have a problem with them or something about them; straightforwardness, honesty, and integrity are some of my core values and that includes being harsh if it comes to it in order to keep order ]
Do you accept criticism well about your portrayal?  —  assuming it’s rooted in goodwill or from a point of analysis, absolutely! it’s one of the direct sources for growth and getting better at any craft, but as Tumblr loves to be.... jumpy, i’m always cautious when its not from someone i know.
Do you like questions, which help you explore your character?  —  YEA BUDDYYYYY
If someone disagrees to a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why?  —  absolutely, i thrive off friendly discourse as i mentioned.
If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it?  —  if we don’t discuss it as above, in lit any other case i’d say “well there are other blogs to follow” but since i’m like 99% sure i’m the only gerson blog that isn’t applicable lmao; the point still stands that everyone has the freedom to write a character as they wish. there are valid reasons to dislike a portayal but not a lot of valid reasons to attack someone for it - with the exception of ppl being gross. stop that, nasty.
If someone really hates your character, how do you take it?  —  strangely. it’s not my job to make people like a character, you either like them or not. if you dislike them for unreasonable points then, to leave in the previous response, “clowns will be clowns, no matter what you do. I just don’t get why you would follow someone if you hate their character to begin with.”
Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors?  —  of course, as long as it’s polite and all that jazz!
Do you think you are easy going as a mun?   —  depends on the meaning - i like making new friends and i find it easy to talk to new people, be it about roleplay or other things like organizing video game play sessions. however, i also have on multiple occasions have approached ppl privately saying “this is annoying/this is problematic/this is inappropriate, stop” and been met with general disdain for voicing such so Who Knows..... (tm). at least on a private level. here, publicly, i’m pretty relaxed! memes and jokes are abound. as long as a person can be mature and responsible for their actions we can vibe, yo.
