Gabriel remembered those words the Lord God told His creations like it was yesterday. Now here he was, about to put those words to shame as he stared at the fruit in front of him.

"And... a-and you'll promise to let everyone live? Let everyone be in peace as one?"

The Devil smiled, a silent confirmation. "I promise."

Gabriel shivered as the words processed in his head. He took the fruit in his hands and gave it a fearful look. Every part of him was screaming at him to simply back down and fight another way, maybe argue for a better negotiation. Gabriel swallowed the thoughts down as he bit into the fruit.

...And he fell, far from the heavens. Farther than the Devil himself ever fell it seemed. He knew at that moment his fate was sealed.

So was everyone else's.
