Thinking again about this post again thanks to a new (to me) period mystery / drama I’m watching.

Just. Sid being shipped off to Kembleford once the government catches up to him. He’s standing in a line with the other children, waiting. The good looking kids go first. Then the strong ones.

He’s the last child standing and then a gentle, firm voice says those magic words, “I’ll take that one.” He finds himself face to face with the village’s new priest who takes his hand and then leads him back to the presbytery where the parish secretary immediately tells him to wash up for dinner.
