Character Building:

brief history:  

Lexi was born to a loving family who were deathly afraid of mutants. Her older brother was collateral damage from a mutant on mutant fight, so when she was born her parents were exceptionally careful with her. However her powers began manifesting in her pre-teen years, and she was placed into foster care with other mutant children after her school found her using her powers. After this Lexi began acting out, stealing from convenience stores openly, getting into fights and skipping school. She was in and out of juvenile detention for several years, bouncing between the state run facility and her foster family. In detention they kept the mutant children heavily medicated to dampen their powers, as the ability inhibiting collars had not yet been available.

At 18 she was moved into the state penitentiary after attending a mutant rights rally for using her powers and destruction of public property, though she had just protected several humans and mutants alike from an oncoming mob of angry citizens.  Thanks to a kind guard, the mutants there found out that Trask Industries was planning on having them transferred to a research facility, so she and two other mutants broke free while in transport. Lexi was on the streets for a year, holed up with one of her mutant friends from prison before they met Oz and joined the mutant underground

Alexis Robinson prefers to go just by ‘Lexi’. Her parents always used her full name, and she resents them for not wanting her. 

Her birthday is April 2nd, making her an Aries. While Lexi does not believe in zodiac signs, she does have several of the traits that her sign describes. She is very assertive, brave and passionate, though she can be quite impatient and impulsive.  

Despite not asking for the role, Lexi has made herself a MU leader in that she generally takes charge of field missions. She met Oz only a year after breaking out of prison, and together they really built up their base. She knows she’s still on the Trask Wanted List, but she can’t help but enjoy the rush of adrenaline that going out and fighting, getting supplies or generally risking her ass gives her. At the base she can be quite serious and moody, though most of the mutants living with her by now know how she operates and can deal with it. 

She discovered her ability at age 12 when a friend was being bullied. Lexi created a shield between her friend, herself and the teenager who was hitting her friend, outing herself on accident. She was then suspended immediately while her parents were informed of the incident. 

for Lexi, ‘molecular manipulation’ means pushing molecules in the air or other substances together, forming a barrier that even bullets can’t pass through. It’s incredibly mental, though she uses her hands typically to guide her powers. Limited use of her hands would limit her ability, as well as extreme emotional distress.

Lexi is very neutral about humans, though she tends to distrust them. Those that help the mutant underground have a special place in her heart despite the length of time it take for her to fully trust them. In contrast, she hates Sentinel Services, the police, and the government guiding them. She sometimes has nightmares about Trask finally getting their hands on her and her friends.

Cassandra: Lexi trusts Cassandra implicitly. The two met in prison and broke out together, defying many odds and kicking themselves higher up on Trask’s wanted list. when neither had anywhere specific to go to, they moved around hiding out from the police for nearly a year before Lexi met Oz. They grew quite close as they depended on each other, and have stuck together the past few years because of it. If anything happens to Cassandra, there will be hell to pay. 

Oz: Lexi’s number two in the whole mutant underground is definitely Oz. They’ve been together for several years now and have grown a very close friendship. He’s the real leader of their base, and to be honest is far more the leader type, level headed and  diplomatic. She’s happy taking charge of most field missions, whether it be taking on SS or the police or going out for supplies and recon. because of their differing personalities, Lexi and Oz can bicker quite a bit behind closed doors but to the rest of the MU they always try to be a united front. 

Samantha: When Sam came to Atlanta, Lexi’s world changed as far as her job in the MU was concerned. They’re no longer going in completely blind, unaware of the risks, and Lexi’s life has definitely been saved by Sam’s abilities more than once. She trusts Sam’s judgment, even if she doesn’t always follow her advice. Sam knows when Lexi needs a cup of tea and when nothing less than a bottle of jack will do. 

Adelaide: Lexi is not the biggest fan of Adelaide. She never had the life of luxury that Adelaide is accustomed to, and she’s found the younger girl quite spoiled. Before Darren came to Atlanta, Lexi on occasion had to shield the base from the girl’s outbursts.

 Tyler: Lexi nearly had a fit when Iris brought a human to their base, despite the dire circumstances that made them reach out to him in the first place. Slowly she’s began to trust him, though she still has walls up around him. 

future plot ideas: where you would like this character to go, or areas you want to develop.

Lexi needs to open up to more people. to learn to rely on them. I’d love for someone new to get ‘stuck’ with her somewhere, and the downtime between kicking ass and taking names they can chat and really open her eyes. Due to her parents and her experiences with foster care, juvie and incarceration, Lexi does not trust people easily. 

Lexi relies on her ability heavily. I’d love a scenario where the headstrong woman is just completely helpless, and has to let others do the heavy lifting for once. she’d be so uncomfortable, but it would be a good opportunity for growth for her.

because I love drama, I’d love for someone to stand up to her and question her leadership. whether it be in the training building, out in the field or in the base itself, they could really just duke it out and get their aggression out.
