"Alright, I got us a table in the back left. You can't miss it." Rebecca starts before moving aside to sit back down and wait for her coffee order. Caramel macchiato with whipped cream and chocolate chips, her standard order that tends to earn her teasing from her friends. "I'll see you soon." It's been seven years since that long night, seven years since she bid him farewell and committed to falsifying his death. A few letters had eventually turned into phone calls, and now his name is cleared, and she's about to see him for the first time.

Her finger toyed with the dog tags that have been resting against the dark green top she'd donned. They're out in the open, with no need to be hidden under her shirts any longer. After all, she's about to return them to their rightful owner.

Finally, back in her hotel room, a warm shower taken and clothes changed, Rebecca hears her phone chime. She'd already been tired from a day spent in the lab, but after being followed and fighting Plaga in the metro it's turned to exhaustion. Hopefully, the student, Hera, is faring better.

Never is she leaving her gun behind again.

Billy's name flashes across the screen, and she heaves a sigh, taking a moment to consider how to reply.

[ Text: Billy ] Not exactly. I came here to give a second opinion on samples, the incident in the MARTA was not expected.

She pauses, still feeling unsettled when dwelling on it. Someone had been commanding those bows, and C-virus was in play as well. Between this incident, the sample from Palm Springs, and Preston Balfour's visit... there's too much interest in her work currently for her own comfort. Rebecca is no stranger to situations like this, but the last time such interest had been directed towards her work, she'd ended up kidnapped by Glenn Arias.

[ txt: Billy ]: I'm okay, I'll be home soon.

She types the last message, sending it off before placing her phone aside and starting her drive.

"Hey," She starts once she's at last entered her apartment, giving him a weak smile. The shirt she'd left wearing that morning was trashed, and instead, she dons one from Blue Umbrella that she can't wait to get out of. For now, Rebecca crosses the room and moves to sit down on the couch as well. The movement causes her to wince, her back a mess of stitched punctures wounds and lacerations from the glass. "The virologist I met with already treated my wounds for me. Someone released a Tyrant on us in the lab. I guess I'm going to be taking an easy here with you for the next week or two until the stitches are out."

She can tell he's hurting, even without him saying it. When treating both their wounds as best she could back at the CDC building, she'd assessed his ribs. Broken, but not displaced- another stroke of luck. When his thumb presses against her brow, she reaches a hand up to gently grab at his wrist before taking his hand in her own. "You'll need them. Your ribs didn't feel displaced at least. We should at minimum use my kit to clean and bandage your shoulder and my arm again." Getting checked out was likely a better idea, but she couldn't deny the desire to return home.

"I'll let you decide we can go back to my apartment either way" Rebecca starts before giving his hand a squeeze, assuring herself more than him. The deployment of A-Virus had terrified her, seeing it directed and infecting him. It was a reminder of what she'd experienced, and Rebecca already knows the memories of the pain that coursed through her when infected with it are going to keep her up tonight. "You can stay as long as you want. I'd feel better if you did for now at least."

He's tired.

It's the first thought that dips into his mind when the whirring of the engines whines with their descent. He prided himself on being able to sleep anywhere, to tuck his head against his chest and nod off enough to rest, but even the couple of hours he had snatched weren't enough to beat back the fact he was very, very hurt.

What could be treated had been treated to the best of their limited abilities. His shoulder felt torn to shreds and it felt like he'd taken a truck to the chest. When he breathes in deep, it hurts like hell and tells him that doing anything is going to be a gamble for a while.

Rebecca's worried face makes him consciously tell himself to relax, reaching out to put his thumb on the pinch of her eyebrows.

"I'm as well as I can be." So, really not well at all. "They're gonna take one look at me and tell me I need some high grade painkillers and about a month's worth of bedrest. We can get checked out, but I'm not expecting much."
