* beep beep * your watch makes a sound, even though you’ve put your notifications on the buzz setting. odd. you quickly tap the side, making it sync up with your brain. that is when you hear it: the announcement of the name(s) of your future spouse(s) and their contact information, along with the message that they’re available to meet in cyberspace. do you refuse and ignore this is happening? do you need to talk to your friend first about this revalation? do you wait to meet them so you do not seem too eager? or do you immediately opt to meet them? it’s up to you!

How long have the residents known about their matches? I know the law was released recently, but at opening would they just be finding out who their matches are? Would they have already known? And those without completed matches, do they just not technically have them completed yet?

hey there, nonnie! thank you for the question! i was thinking that, as they are the first matches ever made, they’ll get a notification of their matches when we open. see it as some sort of event, and those who do not have matches yet still have to wait a little longer. it can take up to a year for the government to make a match after all. those polyamorous pairings who have been partially filled will get a notification of their first partner, and their other partner(s) are still to be decided by the government.

WE ARE NOW OPEN FOR PLOTTING

welcome to earth, 3461! it is now 4pm est and that means we are open for plotting! you can now start posting your intros and tagging them with assigned.intro to make sure that people can see them. we will try to make a masterlist of intros because we know that tags can mess up.

you are also allowed to reblog memes and hold honesty hours so we can start interacting with each other and start to get to know each other’s muses. assigned.honesty can be used to post links to your ask box to show others that it’s is open for interesting and juicy questions!

we will be messaging you all shortly with a link to the ooc blog, which you can join or opt out of. if you choose not to partake in the blog, but still wish to post ooc then you can use the tag assigned.ooc to do so.

we would like to ask you all to read each other’s intros and approach each other with plotting ideas in mind so that you can work towards something solid together or you could make a page that lists connections you’re interested in - if pre-plotting is your thing. if not, feel free to do you, boo. in twenty-four hours we open up for interactions!

can you explain a little more about online vs. offline?

sure! this is a question that is really important to actually answer, although i would encourage our members to add to this, to think up new ideas in addition to this. 

so, basically, you have the five cities - which are offline. there are quite a few transportation ports in every city which you can teleport between. you can’t just teleport anywhere, you have to go through there and from there you can take public transport or walk towards your destination. the real world is filled with places that we are currently familiar with - pubs, nightclubs, mines, factories, courts, etc. that is the offline world. in this world you can also facetime, which is with holograms instead of video and it pops up from your watch.

the online world, as i imagined it, has quite a few virtual realities. some of which could be described as gaming environments - think about shooter games, dance battles, high fantasy games etc. some of them work solely on the connection your watch has with your brain, so you don’t see your actual surroundings but you are in the virtual world. more physical games require you to stand up and actually move. i’d imagine there is something to stand up that measures your movements. think fight games or things like that. parts of this world are also virtual versions of meeting places, to chat together, to dance together, to experience an amusement park together - all while you’re apart. there is a darker part as well where illegal things take place and spaces which hackers use to rob online banks and individual people, dig up what they do online and expose it either to threaten for ransom or as a hacktivist move to discredit certain politicians, etc. then there is another, more mature part of the virtual world. this includes online sex workers, interactive mature content and so on - which is why a lot of people have romantic connections but take care of their sexual needs here because it’s just easier and completely tailored to your wishes. all of the online experiences contribute to the isolation offline.

How is the watch? Can people take it off?

sure they can! see it as our smartphones. people can let them lay on the counter or leave them at home if they choose to, yet they cannot seem to leave their home without one. that is what the watches are, they are the newer version of our smartphones and it isn’t rare for people to sleep with them on, just like we do when we put our phone on our nightstand - or even closer.

EDIT: also see it sort of as a smartwatch? only fancier.

can you explain to me what an online sex worker is and the difference between that and an offline sex worker?

i have put this under a read more as mature content is mentioned. this is not a smut rp, but smut is allowed as is a character having a job as a sex worker, so that is why i feel that a more direct explanation of this question is needed. if this is not something you like, just scroll past, bub!

NOTE: changes can be made by people who take up these positions as occupations of their characters. this is just a suggestion. as i had it in my mind, offline sex workers are prostitutes as we know them now. they have physical sexual contact with their clients, either in their own homes, their partner’s homes or illegal brothels because there are still people who enjoy actual contact. this also includes people who are strippers/exotic dancers in the physical strip clubs, who star in porn that isn’t virtual reality, etc. let’s just say - the old school sex workers.

online sex workers can go two ways - one way is what we already know now, like cam workers. they don’t interact with their client directly but they let them watch and make suggestions. then there are other parts of sex work, such as virtual reality sex work. this can either be with sex toys that are connected to both the sex worker and the client ( you can imagine those if needed, i don’t have a design lol ) but there are also sex work ‘producers’, those that build sexual virtual realities and characters but are never visible themselves. they build things people can experience or even can manipulate themselves to make it their ultimate fantasy. 

those are the differences i see but then again i imagine a lot of people combine both to make a living.
