Hey everyone!

We’ve had some questions about our poc rule, and after discussion, we’ve decided to tweak it just a bit. When joining the group, every second character must still be poc, but we’ve now decided to just tweak it by having it be a 1:1 ratio. For example, if someone has three poc characters off the bat, we will allow three non-poc next, keeping the ratio equal

We’ve also decided to change the mun cap to 45! We now how 6 mun spots open!

And one last change! We’ll be upping our character count from 12 to 15!

Hello, everyone!

We announced in our discord that we will be working on a little newspaper for Aurora Bay called the Aurora Bay Times, and here is more information about it:

Firstly, this is not a gossip blog. From our experiences, gossip blogs can sometimes be hurtful and even cause ooc drama, which is something we never want here. We strive to make Aurora Bay a group that allows our muns to feel safe and a place where they can have fun-- especially since for a lot of us, roleplaying is an escape from our busy (and crazy) lives.

Here's how this will work!

Every few weeks, we will make a post written like it's a newspaper, sharing things about what the town is doing, discussing hype for upcoming events, and most importantly, it will have little pieces from our muns!

We want you guys to get join us with it and get creative! If business owners want an "Ad" in the paper, submit it to the AB Times blog. You can write something as simple as, "I want an ad for X business", and you can leave it at that or you can give us more info if you'd like! You can even write a whole paragraph on it if you want!

If your character wants to leave a review for an establishment, submit it to the AB Times submission box. Or even to drum up a little ic drama, if your character gets into a fight with someone outside of the Four Leaf Pub and want a little news blurb about it, submit that to the submission box!

Anything pertaining to specific characters or locations will need to be off anon and sent only to the submission box. That way we can easily discuss with the muns it involves to make sure they're totally okay with it!

There will also be a gossip column for our paper, so if you want to add something about your character (like a fight mentioned above, a nasty breakup, or someone just running amok in town) or if you've plotted for one muse to have wide-known tension with another and there's some juicy gossip there, submit it to the submission box! Again, please make sure there is nothing mean or malicious about someone else without explicit consent, and anything submitted specifically for the articles, especially if it's involving specific muses, must be off anon!

To keep the page going, we will have a character "running" the AB Times. Alejandra Gutierrez (Salma Hayek). She will be well-known around town, but she won't be on the dash anywhere other than the AB Times' blog. So assume "articles" are written by her.

Of course, if you have written an "article" yourself, we will tag you to share that it was written by you!

The only thing that will be allowed to be sent anonymously will be advice questions. You may send anons to Alejandra to ask her for her wonderful (or sometimes not-so wonderful) advice, and some will be answered right on the spot while others will be posted in the paper along with everything else!

Articles, reviews, interviews, updates from Aurora Bay police, the weather, what's going on in town, etc, are just a few things that will be going on in the newspaper. So again, get creative! We'll even ask around for stories for each article we do!

There will a short list of guidelines for the Aurora Bay Times ask and submission boxes, but it's just to ensure everyone has fun with this and no one gets their feelings hurt!

hi everyone! as a little gift for our wonderful players, us admins have decided to up to character limit!

from here on out, we'll allow twelve characters per mun! when we first opened we thought ten would be more than enough, but we've already got a handful of muns who've hit the cap, and with how much you love the world we've created, we want to allow more added on!

this is effective immediately so those of you with ten already, feel free to start imagining your next muses to join aurora bay

We have updated our activity guidelines!

Considering we’re all adults with jobs and lives outside of the roleplay, we have decided that we will not be doing activity checks for now. Instead, we will begin doing interest checks as well as dming muns before deciding on any unfollows!

We may implement an activity check rule eventually but it will not be as frequent as before, nor will it be such a short window of time for posts!

Interest checks will be done bi-weekly on Sundays

You must respond to the interest check within 24 hours!

muns who fail to respond to the interest check will be put onto an activity check on the main and must contact the admins. if there is still no response within 24 hours, an unfollow will be posted.

We will not have a limit on characters as long as at least every third is a person of color

We will ask that before applying for another character, you are active on the characters you currently have, although there isn’t an exact number. Admins also reserve the rights to delay receiving new characters if it’s been an extremely long time since you’ve been active. This is just to ensure people have a fair chance at getting the faceclaims they want to play. Our current muns are pretty active, so we aren’t too worried about this as of right now.

If you know you won’t be available at all, you can request a hiatus to ensure your faceclaims will not be reopened. Hiatuses will last up to two weeks. Extensions are available at admin discretion if asked.

You must wait at least 3 days after coming off hiatus, as well as being active on your other characters before applying for a new character.

We do ask that you still post your intro within 24 hours of acceptance, as well as replying to two open starters before creating your own!

We are so sorry that we weren't as considerate before, and as previously stated, we were struggling to meet our own activity rules, so this is long overdue.

This is such a wonderful group and we want everyone to feel welcome and to have fun here! Any previous muns are allowed back any time!

Hello everyone!

With the holidays coming up, we know that everyone (us admins included!) will have busier schedules so we wanted to help lighten the load a bit! The past few days in our discord, we've held votes with our members to see what would work best for our group and here's the official holiday activity plan!

Beginning November 7th through January 7th, we will be holding activity checks bi-weekly, so every other Monday. During this time, we will still require the minimum of 3 ic posts on each character, but we will also allow hiatuses during the holidays as well. Just remember we only allow hiatuses up to 2 weeks.

We love this group and we care about all of you, so we just want to make sure everything stays up and running while still being lenient with posts since we know this time of year is crazy!

Neighboring Aurora Bay Drive, Crystal Cove is a 20 story high-rise luxury condo building with rooms to rent and own! Every condo has an oceanfront view and with both indoor and outdoor pools, a gym, and its own private beach area, Crystal Cove offers Aurora Bay residents the very best the town has to offer

With this new addition, since we did originally write that there were luxury condos in aurora bay drive, we are offering the option for any of our current characters who live on aurora bay drive to swap to living in the condominium! if you want your characters to live here, just shoot us a message!

On Friday night Ocean Crest Apartments caught fire, having started in a vacant apartment on the 10th floor. What was originally thought to have been an accident though was quickly discovered to be an act of arson.

Ten minutes after the fire in Ocean Crest began, town hall was raided and set on fire from within. Aurora Bay's mayor, Raymond Ellis, was found tied to a chair. He was rushed to the Emergency Medical Center but due to his severe burns and smoke inhalation, he did not survive.

It is evident that there were multiple people involved in this, though no one has been found guilty at this time.

Detective Diego Martinez is leading the investigation, so there is no doubt in anyone's mind that there will be an end to this soon.

Sadly, though, not everyone made it out of the Ocean Crest. The apartment fire took the lives of three residents from extensive burn injuries and smoke inhalation, and the town hall's fire took the lives of two.

While Ocean Crest is still standing, there is quite a lot of damage done to the interior. The fire damaged most of the top floors rather than those below, but those who live in Ocean Crest must find places to stay during renovations, which will take approximately one month. Thankfully since school is out for the summer, the shelters will stay in place in the gymnasiums in our Elementary and High School, and the Seascape Hotel will offer discounted rates for those affected by the fire. Just like we did during the storm our town saw a few months ago, we will take care of our residents to the absolute best of our ability.

While it is now known that the Mayor was stealing money from the town, the fact that the fires are linked to that is still speculation at this time.

People will have heard about masked figures that were spotted fleeing the scenes of both crimes that night, so there will definitely be talk of that.

The suspects are listed above, so feel free to have characters completely believe they are guilty or totally innocent. (but of course, none of the suspects above are guilty, as the culprits are both NPCs, but it just adds to the drama!)

What people will start to realize is that the descriptions of the masked figures seen leaving the scenes will not match the descriptions of any of the names listed above, so with that, along with other evidence that will come out slowly, the suspects above will be ruled out.

We've asked the mun of Diego Martinez if they would like to write a statement for him to share, so that will be posted along with more information about the event as the mystery starts to unfold!

If you have police officers or firefighters who would like to make statements, please message the main and we can plot it out!

As stated above, those who are living in Ocean Crest will need to find places to stay until renovations are done. Feel free to plot out temporary-roommates or anything like that! anyone without a person to stay with can stay in either of the school gyms, or can rent out a room at the hotel or b&b

So! The mystery has yet to be sovled! We wanted to give time for characters to speculate about what is going on and who is behind it! We love the IC drama and there's just so much that can happen with this!

Admin notes will come out every few days with more information on what has happened and what's going on. We'll also keep our muns who have characters heavily involved in the case in the loop!

As always, after the first three open starters are posted, please reply to at least two before posting your own!

the event in game is friday thru sunday, but event threads can be made until next friday the 20th! the carnival is during the day, the beach party is at night (and adults only!) aaaaand the submergence concert is sunday night, so please keep that in mind!

we accept on a rolling basis and a carnival/beach party is an excellent way to get some new interactions going, so if any current players or newbies want to bring us some new characters, we're eager to have them!
