Il existe bien une route qui contourne par le sud le canyon. Elle nous fait passer le long du fleuve Orange. C'est la frontière naturelle entre la Namibie et l'Afrique du Sud.

Avant de partir nous remontons à pied sur quelques kilomètres le canyon. Il y a longtemps que l'eau n'a pas coulé ici !

Nous prenons la route relativement tard : 10 heures.

Quels beaux paysages ! Cette partie de la Namibie est surprenante, les couleurs sont douces, le regard porte loin sur ces immensités désertiques. Un groupe de Springboks caracole devant la voiture : nous les voyons faire des bonds...

Et puis nous arrivons sur Aussenkehr village sur le fleuve Orange. Du vert, du vert tendre, des vignes à nouveau, des hectares de vignes hautes de 2m. On voit de loin en loin des équipes de travailleurs...chaque cep est irrigué au gouttes à gouttes. Un soin extraordinaire est apporté à la vigne. Et puis un peu plus loin on tombe sur les maisons, non ! Je me trompe : les cabanes des ouvriers ! Elles sont faîtes de tôles ondulées, isolées au sac plastique ou à la natte de palmiers. Et surtout je vois le tracteur avec la citerne au milieu de la cabane ville ! C'est partout pareil alors ! Incapable de mettre l'eau courante pour les ouvriers !!!! Pauvre humanité !!!

Nous reprenons la route en longeant le fleuve Orange. Encore de beaux panoramas. Mais il n'est pas du tout conseillé de traverser le fleuve ! Ni plus tard de passer au sud de la route vers Luderitz. Nous allons longer le Sperrgebiet : la région interdite ! Les mines de diamant sont juste là. Et bien surveillées !

Enfin nous allons prendre nos quartiers à Luderitz. Ville portuaire sur la côte atlantique. Réputée pour sa choucroute et ses plateaux de fruits de mer. Mais aussi pour son architecture !

Kurz vor Aussenkehr bogen wir auf die C13 in Richtung Rosh Pinah. Hier führt die Straße durch den Ai-Ais Richtersveld Transfrontier Park und meist am Oranje, dem Grenzfluss zwischen Namibia und einzigem ganzjährig wasserführendem Fluss der Region entland. Auf Grund der teilweise recht engen Passagen war dieser Bereich für LKW gesperrt.

Ein Rastplatz an der C13

Die C13 bietet zwischen Rosh Pinah und Aus nicht viele Möglichkeiten für Ausflüge zur Seite (der Nationalpark ist hier gesperrt), so dass wir zeitig in Aus eintrafen. Die verbleibende Zeit nutzten wir für einen Kurztrip nach Lüderitz an den Atlantik. Leider war es unterwegs nicht vergönnt, mehr von den wilden Pferden bei Aus zu sehen.
