Honestly "edg/y"'s used too often to discredit characters these days
#im not talking about casual joking#like specifically#how much of a 'traged/y' can you write before someone decides it's too much?#you can have your 'normal' deaths and such#but like fiction exists to write about fantastical traits and events sometimes#ofc some things are gonna be over the top or out of the ordinary#an 'ed/gy' character's backstory doesnt automatixally make it bad#like how it's been used lately#to describe stories and characters who dont have a 'run of the mill' bio#basically 'ed/gy' isn't a shutdown of a character#if an argument on a character's merit is just 'theyre too edg/y' without explanation#thats flimsy#rambling here#but the increase in labeling characters and their supposed mediocrity without examining their innerworkinfs and context#annoys me#its become a checklist of traits without any further examination
