We interrupt my art posting to share some photos of historical manga documents!!

I was cleaning this weekend and re-found my bundle of Hagunsei Senki manga chapters - a manga by CLAMP that was never completed to a first volume.  These are from the 4 chapters that were published.  

Its very, very old - from 1989/90!!!  I use to have a large 90s era CLAMP collection - I sold a lot of it years ago, but I kept this because of how incredibly obscure it was.  Several of the characters went on to be put in other CLAMP stories later on (CCD & X1999 mainly).

For those few out there who actually know this exists and have always wanted to see it - here you are :)

Suoh x Nagisa is the sweetest couple ever. I wish they would have their own series like Akira and Utako but all I can do now is cutting their mature images from X1999 and Man of many faces and put them together.

CLAMP SCHOOL DETECTIVES NOVEL VOLUME 2 (Ep 2,3 - Chap 1).

The day before the school festival, Nokoru usually worked all night.

Nokoru's elementary school student council was planning to hold an event called "Challenge! Detective Quiz!" under the name of his CLAMP School Detectives team.

In addition to that, he had to manage the entire school festival, so he was unusually busy.

Even though it was still bright in the middle of summer, the days were getting shorter and the school was lit up with lights.

By now he was getting hungry.

And Akira brought Chinese steamed buns with perfect timing. “I brought you special Chinese steamed buns!” Steam rose from the steamer basket.

"I've been waiting for you, Akira."

"As expected of Ijyuin."

Nokoru and Suoh trotted to the steamer basket.

When Akira opened the lid of the steamer basket, more steam spread throughout the room. Inside, there were a lot of fluffy and delicious Chinese buns. Akira immediately started his food introduction.

"Uhm. This is a free-range chicken bun using Date's free-range chicken, and this is a sweet and sour pork bun. Then, this is a pizza bun, and this is an red bean paste bun using red beans from Tokachi. Then――――"

(*Note: Date is a city and Tokachi is a subprefecture that belong to Hokkaido, Japan.)

"Ah, Akira, it's enough, let me eat anyway."

Nokoru's hunger reached the red zone.

It's the same with Suoh, and the two of them reached for the nearest Chinese bun at the same time.

“Hmmm. I wanted to ask for your comments because I came up with different kinds of Chinese steamed buns."

Akira puffed up cutely. "Enjoy yourselves!"

Nokoru said passionately while stuffing his mouth full of Chinese steamed buns.

Apparently, he said, "I'll listen to you later," but Akira didn't understand. "Yes, yes. That's enough. Please be careful not to get burned."

Nokoru and Suoh said "Uhm" and nodded in unison like little children.

Akira smiled and said, "Okay, now I'm going to make black tea," and started preparing.

It was time.

The phone on Nokoru's desk rang.

Nokoru desperately swallow the Chinese bun in his mouth and picked up the phone. "Yes. This is Elementary Division Student Council."

For a moment, there was no reaction from the other party.

"Hello?"

This situation was so unusual that Suoh and Akira looked at the others.

Nokoru immediately presses the button on the speakerphone.

After a while, they heard a voice that sounded like an electronic sound. "Cancel tomorrow's school festival."

That voice, which was inorganic and had no intonation, was strangely eerie. Suoh rushed over to Nokoru and pressed the record button on the phone.

"Cancel tomorrow's school festival."

As if to remind them, the same thing was repeated.

All three of them looked tense.

"If you don't cancel, you are going to be in big trouble"

Then the phone was unilaterally disconnected.

Naturally, the other party's phone number didn't appear on the display board. Suoh quickly analyzed the voiceprints of recorded voices with a computer.

However, it was still an artificial voice.

"Is it just a prank?"

Suoh glanced at Nokoru and said.

Nokoru looked resentful and he said certainly,

"Anyway, it's not the work of someone inside the school. Our students, who love festivals, wouldn't do something like this to throw a damper on the school festival..."

Both Suoh and Akira nodded.

The three of them pondered for a while.

Akira finally opened his mouth.

"What are we doing now, Kaichou?"

Suoh was also waiting for Nokoru's decision. Nokoru paused for a moment, then said quietly,

"The school festival is canceled."

"Eh!?!?!? Really???"

Akira let out a loud voice.

(Giving in to a threatening phone call that he doesn't know if it's a prank or not isn't like the kaichou...)

Suoh also tilted his head.

Akira, who was in charge of accounting, instantly calculated the economic loss if the school festival was cancelled.

"Kaichou! No matter what, the loss is too big!"

Nokoru, however, calmly replied as if he understood everything.

"I know that, but if something terrible happens, it will be irreversible..."

"But…………"

Akira still seemed unconvinced.

"Even if the chance is less than 1%, we can't let anything hapened but can't keep the school festival cancelling forever either..."

When Nokoru said so, both Suoh and Akira exhaled and relaxed their shoulders.

It was an expression of consent.

Before long, Nokoru smiled as usual,

"Instead, the day after tomorrow, we will have a potato digging tournament."

and he declared,

"And the next day is the autumn festival. The day after that is grape picking. Next, chestnut picking. Autumn leaves picking. Sports festival. Sketching contest. Ball game tournament.

Nokoru continued.

Suoh and Akira were instantly happy.

At that point, even Suoh and Akira couldn't help but open their mouths.

"So, every day?"

"Every day."

"Why, Why is it?"

"Isn't it decided?"

"Eh……?"

"Because it is interesting."

Nokoru smiled perfectly.

Akira was still dumbfounded.

But Suoh quickly made up his mind.

(By carrying out one event after another, he is going to see the reaction of the one who threatened us...If he made the same kind of phone calls every time, he would get the hang of it sooner or later, right...?)

Suoh looked at Nokoru and saw him nodding as if he understood Suoh's thoughts.

The daily events that were held instead of canceling the school festival were all successful without anyone getting in the way.

The students were overjoyed, Nokoru and the others were satisfied, but he was still worried about the phone call.

As if the culprit had seen through Nokoru's intentions, he never received a single suspicious phone call. Somewhere, someone was gloating, saying, "I can't fit in with your pace that easily."

However, Akira alone laughed at Nokoru and said,

"I'm sure it was just a prank."

Of course, he didn't let his guard down easily, but since nothing happened, he felt like he was played in someone's hand instead of being threatened seriously, so he tried his best to forget about it.

For my desire, I commissioned this wedding pic of Suoh and Nagisa.

I will definitely write their love story just like Akira and Utako. They deserve their own story.

The image of adult Suoh is taken from X1999 and adult Nagisa is taken from Man of many faces manga.

Ohkawa Utako, the president of the CLAMP school Kindergarten Division, and her friend Azuya Nagisa were close to Akira and Suoh, respectively, so these days they were almost like members of the CLAMP School Detective Team.

However, when they complained something to each other, they decided to come under the wisteria trellis alone.

"Lately Akira-kun has been so obsessed with making soup that he hasn't even played with me at all."

Utako was so cute.

She usually called Akira "Ijyuin-sama," but when she was alone with Nagisa, she called him "Akira-kun."

When Nagisa gave a modest "fufu" laugh, Utako rushed in like her mother-in-law.

"How is Takamura-sama? Have you two been on a date recently?"

With that one word "date", Nagisa's face turned bright red.

And she said, in a voice so soft that hardly heard, "No."

"I am so sorry for both of us. How dare they leave us alone?"

Nagisa raised her flute in her hand, as if to calm Utako's exploding anger and that inside of herself as well.

Utako immediately became enraptured and calm.

Nagisa herself was starting to feel happy.

It was time.

Suddenly, they heard a beautiful piano melody came out of nowhere, as if responding to the sound of Nagisa's flute.

Utako looked around with a "Hey?" expression, but Nagisa continued playing the flute.

It was like a conversation without words between people who understood music. Utako figured out that the piano sound was coming from the music room.

And Nagisa continued her performance as she slowly looked towards the music room.

There was certainly a figure playing the piano there, but she had no idea what kind of person the pianist was.

Eventually, the beautiful flute and piano session came to an end, and Nagisa smiled in satisfaction.

"Let's go!"

When Utako said that, Nagisa gave a small nod, and the two of them trotted towards the music room.

"Who could be?"

Both Utako and Nagisa were intrigued by the pianist playing the most beautiful melodies they had ever heard.

However, when they arrived, there was no one in the music room. Only Schubert on the wall was smiling.

"What is it......"

Utako muttered with regret, like when she missed an answer on a quiz show. That was the same for Nagisa.

"Perhaps that was the same person."

Akira said happily. Utako and Nagisa came to the elementary school student council room and reported about the mysterious person who was playing the piano, Nokoru talked about paper planes, Suoh about the archery range, and Akira about the yarrow, respectively.

Nokoru said, "Hmm...." and was lost in thought. He was wondering whether or not to tell them that a mysterious email had been sent to him before the paper plane incident.

It didn't seem like the two things were related at this point, but something catched his eyes.

Furthermore, the mysterious phone call that caused the school festival to be canceled remained unresolved. However, the four other than Nokoru were not so serious, and even seemed to be amused.

(This may not be the right time...)

Nokoru decided to keep it in his heart.
