Here’s a few tips for identifying a true a Fenton glassware: Check for a sticker on the bottom of your item. Before 1970, Fenton glass was usually marked with oval stickers. Many of these stickers were lost or removed over time, but some of them are still attached. The stickers are often affixed to the bottom of the glass. Stickers may be an oval foil sticker with scalloped or smooth edges. The first Fenton logo to be stamped into the glass was the word Fenton inside of an oval. It can be found on carnival glass pieces including vases, dishes, and decorative items that were made starting in 1970. This logo was added to hobnail glass pieces, which have a bumpy texture, beginning in 1972-1973. Some of Fenton’s markings are obscured during finishing treatments. If a mark isn’t obvious immediately, look again more closely for a faint, raised oval. Check for a small number in the oval that denotes the year. In the 1980s, Fenton added a number 8 to the logo to indicate the decade when the pieces were made. They used a 9 during the 90s and a 0 from 2000 to the present. These numbers may be small and hard to see. Examine the piece for a cursive F in an oval. If your piece is marked with an F in an oval, it indicates that the glass mold was originally owned by a company other than Fenton, and Fenton later acquired that mold. This mark came into use in 1983. Check for a flame or a star on the piece. You may notice a flame which resembles the letter S, a solid star, or the outline of a star somewhere on your item. This indicates that the piece is a second, or was found to have some defect while still at the factory. These pieces can still be collectible. Beginning in 1998, an uppercase block F was used to mark seconds. #bhmhomeandestate #bargainhuntermama #fenton #fentonglass #collectibles #njestateliquidations #estatesalefinds #estatesaleshopping #fentonlamps https://www.instagram.com/p/CBMzYvrDOWB/?igshid=18sakmlc28oqh

More on Model Trains — Model trains were created in Germany in the 1830s, model trains were made by pouring molten brass or tin into a mold. Shortly after, the first American version was created by Mathias Baldwin of the Baltimore Locomotive Works. After the American Civil War, model trains grew in popularity, and eventually more advanced features like the section track, figure eight layout, and electric capabilities caught on. Demand for model trains began to wane in the mid-20th century, as interest shifted from trains to Cars While most serious collectors of vintage model trains specialize by scale, gauge, or manufacturer, purchasing their engines, rolling stock, and sections of track on an à la carte basis, just about everybody got into the hobby via some sort of model-train set. Model-train sets range from basic starter sets with a locomotive, some track, and a few cars to all-inclusive collections that allow model-train enthusiasts to erect entire towns and rail yards, or recreate particular eras. There are also newer collectible sets that match locomotives to the vintage passenger cars they would have pulled, in the appropriate colors. Although the concept of model-train sets sounds modern, it actually goes back at least to 1910, when the Edmonds-Metzel Manufacturing Company produced a line of passenger-train sets known as “Chicago Cars.” During the “train wars” of the mid-1910s, when the import of German train brands such as Märklin and Bing was interrupted by World War One, U.S. manufacturers such as Ives, American Flyer, Dorfan, and Lionel all used train sets to differentiate themselves from their competitors, although sometimes this differentiation was only partial. For example, in 1925, American Flyer offered a premium line of “Wonder” train sets, whose locomotives and cars were designed to run on Lionel’s standard-gauge tracks—American Flyer simply rebranded it’s copy as “Wide Gauge.” #bhmhomeandestate #bargainhuntermama #njestatesale #estatesalefinds #njliquidator #estatesales #modeltrains #vintagemodeltrains #vintagetoys #estatesaleshopping https://www.instagram.com/p/B_0Lj-djUft/?igshid=1xmocrf9uqk0j
