Message in a bottle 📜
As his friend enjoys the sunrise and the sounds of the ocean after a night of partying, Robinson thinks about the message in the bottle he found on the shore. Who could have sent it?
My entry to #bc_howitstarted contest on @brickcentral
How it started:
In February 2021 I picked up Pirates of Barracuda Bay, my first set as an adult, and with it my first CMF minifigure, the Shipwreck Survivor. After building the set, I took the photo shown here, with my phone camera.
At the time, I had no idea how big the toy photographer community was. I was amazed at all the photos people were taking, so I wanted to join the fun and created an Instagram account.
How it's going:
In the past two years I have learned a lot from others about toy photography, framing, different shooting angles, setting up the scene, lighting, storytelling, among other things. There were ups and downs and I'm still learning, but I managed to take a lot of photos that I'm very proud of. I decided to use the same minifigure and set for the new photo.

How it started
Brickcentral is holding a contest this month, #bc howitstarted where you show a photo from when you first started to take Lego photos and post it alongside a recent one. I decided to make a new version of my oldest Lego photo.
Whenever I'm asked when I started to take photos of Lego my answer is 2017. However I took this one picture way back in 2012. I had forgotten all about it but this contest reminded me and after searching some old folders on my computer I found it.
When I made the new version I was also inspired by The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai. Lego recently released their own version that reminded me of this fantastic piece of art. That being said, it was only luck that the "wave" in my picture is somewhat similar to that in Hokusai's work. I just took many exposures and hoped that at least one would be usable.
