Dean was drunk. Again. Bad hunt went worse. His little sister didn’t know, and Sam wanted to keep it that way. 

“Bubby?”  YN’s little body waddled into his Dean Cave. “Can you open this?” She put a juice box in front of his face. 

“Can I have some space, dimwit?” Dean snatched it out of her hand, and he pushed her to take a step back. 

“Ow!” 

“Here, buttmunch.” Dean shoved it into her chest. 

“Meanie!” She stomped away from him. 

“What?” Dean followed her out of the room. YN ran into Sam’s arm at their kitchen table. “Get back hrrr, you little shi-!”

“Woah!” Sam lifted the girl into his lap. 

“Deanie is being a butthead!” 

Sam looked up at Dean. 

“She won’t let me relax! Do this, do that.” 

“She’s six, Dean! Get over it! We can’t let our jobs affect her. You need to chill.” 

“Yeah, chill, dude!” YN crossed her arms. 

“And you-“ Sam looked to her, “don’t be sassy.” 

“Humph!” YN groaned. 

“Go to bed, Dean. Cool off.” 

“Fine…” he growled and exited. 

“Come here,” Sam snuggled her into his chest. 

“Why is he mad at me?” YN looked up at Sam. 

“He isn’t. He’s just tired. Don’t you worry.”

“Take it, Dean.” YN tried to hand him some pills for his flu symptoms. 

“I’m fine, bear…” he rolled his eyes. Dean coughed and started gagging. His little sister put a trash can in front of his face. After he was done, he wiped his mouth.. 

“Please, just take them. You’ll feel better, bubby,” the little girl offered the medicine to him again.  He accepted them with a defiant grunt and a sneeze. “Thank you, Deanie.”  She touched his cheek soothingly, gave him some water, and left the room for him to rest.

Summary: School and sleep are good things.  Just difficult sometimes 

“Hey, bear,”  Dean walked into the motel room.

“Hi,” she responded without looking up.

“What’s wrong?”  Dean raised a brow at her behavior.

“Sam’s mad at me,” she said as she laid her books on the bed and shrugged.  

“Why?  Where is he?”

“He took a phone call outside.  Might be by the vending machine.  He graded my test, and I failed.  I hate homeschool!”

“YN!  Why did you fail it?”

“Leave it, Dean,” she turned away.

“No way, try again.”

“I don’t know!  I don’t know, okay!”  

“Yeah, you do.  Spill.  Now.”  Dean became serious and sat in a chair across from her.

“I’m not sleeping, okay?  I can’t focus, and we’re always traveling.  I can’t do it!”

“Hey, it’s okay.  Maybe we’ve just been pushing too hard.  We’ll figure it out.”

“No, we won’t Dean.  It’s fine.  I’m a Winchester.  I’m tough.”

“Ha.  Love your attitude, but everyone needs sleep.  Even us.”  He moved to sit on the motel bed.  

“I gotta finish this, or Sam will kill me,”  she tried to lift the books back into her lap.  

“No, you need to sleep.  It’s eight o’clock.  You can sleep now.  I’ll tell Sam to lay off.  Come here,”  he opened his arms.  

“I’m eleven, not a baby.”

“You can’t sleep.  It doesn’t matter, bear,” he assured her.  “It’s fine, come here.”

She rolled her eyes at him but put her books on the floor and lied against his side.  Before he could soothe her to sleep, she was snoring as she snuggled into him.
