I went through a writing phase years ago where I looked at my overly descriptive juvenilia and decided that the only way (of course) to combat that habit was to stop describing anything and everything, figuring that the reader could just make that up themselves.

This was obviously terrible writing practice.

But. Sometimes, like right frickin' now, when I'm trying to describe an amazing landscape at sunrise, and am failing to get anywhere near it, I wish I could just write, 'The sunrise was amazing' and leave it at that.
