[PT-BR] Quando há muitas opções de boas cervejas, eu sempre pego o flight. Ainda mais quando são cervejas premiadas.

Na Twin City Brewing, eu experimentei a Swedish Gymnastics Single Hopped Blonde Ale, a Late Bloomer Strawberry Hibiscus Sour, a Sugar Shack Maple Lager (colab com a Ucluelet Brewing) e a Nocturne Belgian-Style Quad. Olha que linda ficou a paleta de cores desse flight! Felizmente o Felipe escolheu minha quinta opção, a British Pale Ale Tickity Boo.

O Late Bloomer tem um delicado sabor floral de hibisco. A quantidade perfeita. O mesmo para o maple do Sugar Shack. E foi muito bom beber um Quad Belga, já que não há tantas cervejarias fazendo isso.

A primeira vez que vi o cardápio de comida, a pizza GOAT (cebola defumada, pimentão vermelho assado, rúcula, queijo de cabra, muçarela e vinagre balsâmico) me chamou a atenção. Eu sabia que iria gostar. E eu estava certa! A pizza é deliciosa, a combinação de sabores é incrível.

[EN] When there’s a lot of good beer options I always get the flight. Even more when there’s a lot of awards winning beers.

At @twincitybrewing I sampled the Swedish Gymnastics Single Hopped Blonde Ale, the Late Bloomer Strawberry Hibiscus Sour, the Sugar Shack Maple Lager (collab with Ucluelet Brewing) and Nocturne Belgian-Style Quad. Look how beautiful was the color palette of this beer flight! Luckily Felipe chose my fifth choice, the British Pale Ale Tickity Boo.

The Late Bloomer has a delicate floral taste from hibiscus. The perfect amount. The same for maple of Sugar Shack. And it was pretty nice to drink a Belgian Quad since there aren’t so many breweries doing it.

The very first time I saw the food menu the GOAT pizza (Caramelized Onion, Roasted Red Peppers, Arugula, Goat Cheese, Mozzarella, Balsamic Drizzle) caught my eyes. I knew I would like it. And I was so right! The pizza is delicious, the combination of flavors is incredible.

[PT-BR] Depois de aproveitar uma tarde de sol no Jack Point and Biggs Park, paramos no meio do caminho para tomar uma cerveja na Wolf Brewing.

A gente provou duas cervejas sazonais e uma de linha. As primeiras foram a Game 8, uma Dry Hopped Pale Ale com aromas e sabores de pinho e cítrico, com alto drinkability; e a Clippers 72 Holst, uma Marzen-Oktoberfest maltada com leve amargor herbal. Por último, a Porter, que estava um pouco mais tostada do que eu esperava, mas ainda assim, estava boa.

O Wolf Den, como eles chamam o tap room, tem um clima meio pub com uma ótima seleção de música e tem espaço kids bem legal.

[EN] After enjoying a sunny afternoon at Jack Point and Biggs Park, we stopped along the way for a beer at @wolfbrewingcompany

We grabbed two limited releases beers and one mainline beer. The first were Game 8, a Dry Hopped Pale Ale with aromas and flavors of pine and citrus, with high drinkability; and Clippers 72 Holst, a malty Marzen-Oktoberfest with a light herbal bitterness. Lastly, the Porter, which was a little toastier than I expected, but still good.

The Wolf Den has a pub feeling with a great music selection and a really cool kids' area.

[PT-BR] Um lindo dia ensolarado de outono na Bayview Brewing.

Degustamos oito cervejas diferentes e a vencedora foi a Dilly Idol (aliás, bom nome), uma Dill Pickle Gose. Uma cerveja de picles pode parecer estranha (e é! Hehe) mas é muito interessante. E se pensarmos nas características da Gose faz sentido, porque as duas são ácidas e salgadas.

Mas se você prefere uma cerveja de estilo mais comum, a Hazy IPA Sunny Saltair Special é uma ótima pedida.

[EN] Such a beautiful sunny fall day at @bayviewbrewing .

We sampled eight different beers and the winner was Dilly Idol (cool name by the way) a Dill Pickle Gose. A beer with pickles may seem strange but it’s very interesting and if we think about the characteristics of Gose it makes sense because both are acidic and salty.

If you prefer more common styles, the Hazy IPA Sunny Saltair Special is a great choice.

[PT-BR] O nome da Fern + Cedar está estampado no seu tap room: as samambaias (fern) estão penduradas no teto e numa prateleira atrás do balcão, trazendo beleza e criando uma clima costeiro. E o cedro (cedar) está numa linda parede/ arte.

Entre as cervejas de linha, a Four Poles Pale Ale é a melhor. É dourada, fresca, leve e cítrica. Entre as sazonais, a Cha Cha Cha Tropical ISA é refrescante, cítrica e leve, tem só 3,7% de teor alcoólico. A Maple Amber Ale contrapõe as outras cervejas. Encorpada e mais complexa do que esperava, ela me surpreendeu com seus aromas de malte caramelo, maple (claro) e um toque de madeira.

Localizado no centro de Qualicum Beach, o brewpub é bem familiar, tinha várias mesas com crianças e também com pessoas mais idosas, inclusive uma senhorinha super descolada bebendo sozinha no balcão.

[EN] @fernandcedarbrewing ‘name is stamped on its tap room: ferns hang from the ceiling and on a shelf behind the counter, bringing beauty and creating a west coast vibe. And the cedar is in a beautiful art on the wall.

Among the year-round beers, the Four Poles Pale Ale is the best. It is golden, fresh, light and citrusy. Among the seasonal ones, Cha Cha Cha Tropical ISA is refreshing, citrusy and light, with only 3.7% ABV. Maple Amber Ale contrasts with the other beers. Full-bodied and more complex than I expected, it surprised me with its aromas of caramel malt, maple (of course) and a touch of wood.

The brewpub is family friendly, it had several tables with children and also with elderly people, including a super cool lady drinking by herself at the counter.

[PT-BR] A cervejaria Land & Sea tem dois espaços: um pátio com alguns guarda-sóis e um galpão bem legal com a sala de brassagem logo atrás do balcão e a cozinha aberta para o salão. A parte interna tem dois portões, que deixam o ambiente bem arejado.

A cervejeira é uma mulher e faz ótimas cervejas. Entre as cervejas que degustamos, o destaque vai para Estuary Session Ale, uma Session IPA com spruce tips. Normalmente eu não gosto de cervejas com a folha desse pinheiro, mas essa estava super equilibrada, com o gosto de spruce tips na medida exata. As outras, em ordem das que mais gostei, foram a Comox Common, Black Diamond Dark Ale, Comexico Hazy Pale Ale e Glacier Cream Ale.

Há várias opções de comida, inclusive vegetariana, como o gostoso sanduíche, que escolhi. O Black Bean Veggie Burger leva hambúrguer de feijão (feito na cervejaria), rúcula, geleia de tomate & picles de rabanete, maionese de chipotle e molho de coentro.

[EN] @landandseabeer has two spaces: a patio with some umbrellas and a really cool shed with the brewhouse right behind the bar and the kitchen open to the lounge. The interior has two gates, which make the environment very airy.

The brewer is a woman and she makes great beers. Among the beers we tasted, the highlight is the Estuary Session Ale, a Session IPA with spruce tips. Normally I don't like beers with that leaves, but this one was super balanced, with just the right amount of spruce tips. The others, in order of my favorites, were Comox Common, Black Diamond Dark Ale, Comexico Hazy Pale Ale and Glacier Cream Ale.

There are a few food options, including vegetarian, such as the tasty sandwich, which I chose. The Black Bean Veggie Burger features a bean patty (made in the brewery), arugula, tomato jam & pickled radish, chipotle mayo and cilantro sauce.

[PT-BR] Enquanto eu estava grávida, nós mudamos de cidade porque o Felipe recebeu uma proposta de head brewer na White Sails Brewing. Depois de meses só sentindo os aromas das cervejas que ele criava, agora, finalmente, pude provar. E fiquei emocionada. Sério! Eu chorei quando tomei a Lost Lake, uma Pale Ale limpa, fresca, leve, aromática, feita com um blend de Mosaic e Vic Secret.

Fico muito feliz e orgulhosa de ver ele usando sua criatividade e conhecimento pra criar receitas, ou melhor, criar ótimas receitas. Uma das últimas que ele fez foi um Rice Lager, que tá demais, perfeita pro verão. Outra que acho bem interessante é a Regardians Coffee, uma Blond Ale delicada feita colaborativa com café do Regard Coffee Roasters. Mas na real, você pode escolher qualquer uma que não tem erro.

A cervejaria fica no coração de Nanaimo, num prédio de esquina de tijolinho à vista em frente ao parque Maffeo Sutton. O pequeno hall dá de cara na grande lareira, entrando, a sala de brassagem está à direita separada apenas por uma grade do salão, que tem um teto bem alto. Algumas mesas altas, outras baixas, umas compartilhadas, outras mais reservadas.

[EN] While I was pregnant, we moved cities because Felipe got a head brewer offer at @whitesailsbrewing. After months just smelling his beer’s aromas, I could finally taste them. And I was thrilled. Serious! I cried when I drank the Lost Lake, a clean, fresh, light, aromatic Pale Ale made with a blend of Mosaic and Vic Secret.

I’m very happy and proud to see him using his creativity and knowledge to create recipes, or rather, create great recipes. One of the last ones he made was a Rice Lager. It’s incredible and perfect for the summer. Another one that I find very interesting is Regardians Coffee, a delicate Blond Ale made collaboratively with coffee from @regardcoffee. But for real, you can choose any one they’re all good.

[PT-BR] um brinde à John Mitchell na Smugglers Trail. Nós íamos nessa cervejaria só pra tomar a Wedgehead Kölsch (foto 2). Não se vê muita opção desse estilo e essa é um ótimo exemplar. Ela é fresca e delicada com um toque de lúpulo. Uma das melhores, senão a melhor, que já tomei por aqui. Mas chegando lá, tive a oportunidade de tomar a John Mitchell Signature Cascadian Dark Ale. Em 6 de julho de 1982, John Mitchell serviu a primeira cerveja artesanal do Canadá. Para comemorar os 40 anos desse acontecimento, a faculdade KPU se juntou com a cervejaria Russell e lançou essa deliciosa cerveja. Ela tem sabores equilibrados entre cítrico e caramelo e tostado e teve os sabores realçados conforme foi esquentando. A cerveja, que tem edição limitada, está disponível em várias cervejarias e vale a pena provar pelo sabor, pela história e pela homenagem. You don't see many breweries doing this style and this is a great example. One of the best, if not the best, I've had around here. But getting there I had the opportunity to drink the John Mitchell Signature Cascadian Dark Ale. On July 6, 1982, John Mitchell served Canada's first craft beer. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of this event, KPU and Russell Brewery launched this delicious beer. This beer has balanced flavors between citrus and caramel and toast and had the flavors enhanced as it heated up. The beer is available at several breweries and is worth tasting for its taste, history and homage. [PT-BR] “Good times” é o lema da Field House e foi exatamente isso que tivemos numa manhã ensolarada de domingo no pátio do brewpub. Localizado em uma charmosa vila com cara de antiga no centro de Chilliwack, essa é a segunda unidade da Field House (a primeira fica em Abbotsford. Já escrevi sobre ela, veja na #BCbeerMoB 😉). Apesar de terem uma estética diferente, as duas são bem aconchegantes, receptivas, têm boas cervejas e boas comidas. No taplist tem cervejas produzidas nas duas unidades. Eu prefiro provar as produzidas ali mesmo (a West Coast IPA e a Juicy Pale Ale são ótimas pedidas). Para acompanhar, deliciosa e tostadinha pizza Three Cheese com molho bechamel, muçarela, gouda e grana padano. [EN] “Good times” is @fieldhousebrewing ‘s slogan. That's exactly what we had on a sunny Sunday morning in the brewpub's patio. Located in a charming old village in downtown Chilliwack, this is Field House's second unit (the first is in Abbotsford. I already wrote about it, check it out on #BCbeerMoB 😉). They have a different aesthetic but both are very welcoming, cozy and have good beers and good food. The taplist has beers produced in both units. I prefer to taste the ones produced right there (West Coast IPA and Juicy Pale Ale are great options). A Horal* Oude Geuze Megablend 2021 é uma cerveja colaborativa por nada mais nada menos do que as cervejarias belgas Boon, De Oude Cam, De Troch, Hanssens, Tilquin, Lambiek Fabriek, Lindemans, Mort Subite, Oud Beersel e Timmermans. A cerveja é uma mistura de lambic jovem e velha de todas essas cervejarias e é uma explosão no nariz e na boca. No aroma, tem biscoitos e notas florais e no paladar, biscoito e florais se repetem com adição de notas gramíneas e picantes. Harmonizamos com um risoto de abobrinha e camarão feito pelo @lipe_ 💛 *High Council for Artisanal Lambic Beers (Alto Conselho para Cervejas Lambic Artesanais, em tradução livre) é uma organização belga que defende a história e a herança das cervejas Lambic e Geuze que são feitas por fermentação selvagem ou espontânea. [PT-BR] tomando uma cerveja na cervejaria mais tranquila que eu já fui. Se você quer refúgio perto da cidade, Locality é o lugar. A cervejaria tem um ótimo pátio ao redor do celeiro/cervejaria. Nós sentamos em um lugar que tinha vista para o laguinho e canto dos pássaros, dá pra sentir a calmaria, né? Pra chegar lá tem um escorregador, mas preferi ir pela escada mesmo, não estava no clima de testar minhas habilidades equilibristas no Tobogã do Silvio Santos. Eu provei a Black Tea Lager Black Lagoon, a English Pale City Limits, a Amber IPA Spring Robin e a Blackberry Blueberry Sour Haywire. Felipe pegou a Peach Lemonade Gose Whimsical. Eles cultivam seus próprios ingredientes, malteiam seu próprio grão e processam seu próprio lúpulo (também frutas, nozes e mel). É uma cervejaria do campo ao vidro. If you want a getaway close to the city, @localitybrewing is the place to go. The brewery has a great patio around the beer barn. We took a spot overlooking the pond and the birdsong make this the most peaceful place to have a beer. I know I've said this before, but it's true. I sampled the Black Tea Lager Black Lagoon, the English Pale City Limits, the Amber IPA Spring Robin and the Blackberry Blueberry Sour Haywire. And Felipe took the Peach Lemonade Gose Whimsical. They grow their own ingredients, malt their own grain and process their own hops (also fruit, nuts and honey). It’s a brewery from field to glass. [PT-BR] a Wildeye não é uma cervejaria alemã, mas talvez por causa do calor, acabamos só tomando as cervejas clássicas, leves e refrescantes dessa escola: Pilsner, Kolsch, Gose e Hefeweizen.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A Czech Pilsner (só lembrando que a República Tcheca faz parte da escola alemã) estava maravilhosa e ponto. A German Kolsch tem sabor de biscoito e um leve limão, que persiste no aftertaste. A Sunday Market é uma Gose com bastante morango temperada com cardamomo e fermentada com uma cepa doméstica de lactobacilos, aliás achei que o nome combinou super bem com a cerveja. Por fim, a After the Rain, uma Hefeweizen frutada, encorpada, mas brilhante.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ O cardápio é variado, como estávamos na pegada alemã, escolhemos o Soft Pretzel & Beer Mustard. Foi uma escolha certeira, ele tava delicioso, um dos melhores que já comi por aqui.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Sempre digo que o atendimento muda completamente a experiência de um lugar. Por isso não posso deixar de mencionar que o da dessa cervejaria foi muito simpático e atencioso, tornando a experiência ainda melhor.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] Wildeye is not a German brewery, but perhaps because of the heat, we only took the classic, light and refreshing beers from the German Origin Styles: Pilsner, Kolsch, Gose and Hefeweizen.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Czech Pilsner was wonderful, period. German Kolsch has a biscuit flavor and a slight lemon, which persists in the aftertaste. Sunday Market is a Gose with lots of strawberry flavored with cardamom and fermented with a house strain of lactobacillus. By the way I thought the name went really well with the beer. Finally, After the Rain is a fruity and well balanced, but bright Hefeweizen.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ There are many food options. We chose the Soft Pretzel & Beer Mustard to pairing with the beers. Its patio season! The sun is shining but the temperature isn’t too warm yet. A great moment to get some fresh beer release from @temporalbeer The Liminal Space is a blend of Munichwine aged in Buffalo Trace bourbon and Brazilian amburana barrels. It came from Brazil, coopered by @dornashavana and it’s the only one of its kind in Canada. In Brazil, we usually use this kind of barrel for cachaça but I have to say using this barrel for beer is even more interesting. The other beer is the Vanilla Gesha Horizon, an unblended Imperial Stout aged in an Austin Nichol's 12yr barrel. Conditioned on Mexican vanilla beans and Mexican Gesha coffee beans from @prototypecoffee.ca Both beers are part of Temporal Void Series, an exploration of the extremely strong end of barrel-aged beers. [PT-BR] Sooke Brewing é uma cervejaria premiada localizada na pequena cidade de mesmo nome. Assim como a cervejaria, a Vienna Lager, que tem sabor marcante de casca de pão, também é premiada. Já a Belgian Blond Ale é uma combinação perfeita da levedura belga com os lúpulos europeus, que conferem sabores e aromas florais e herbais. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Do lado de fora, a entrada com um grande tronco de árvore e pilares de pedra é imponente e do lado de dentro, mais um tronco que foi transformado em um charmoso balcão, que divide o salão da sala de brassagem. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Uma vez na cidade, fomos caminhar no Sooke Potholes Provincial Park, estava lindo coberto de neve, mas espero voltar no verão para nadar nas piscinas naturais. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ [EN] @sookebrewing is an award-winning brewery located in the small town of the same name. As well as the brewery, Vienna Lager, which has a striking bread crust flavor, is also awarded. Belgian Blond Ale is a perfect combination of Belgian yeast and European hops, which provide floral and herbal flavors and aromas. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ On the outside, the entrance with a large tree trunk and stone pillars is imposing and on the inside, another trunk that has been transformed into a charming balcony, which divides the taproom from the brewhouse. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Once in the city we went for a walk in the Sooke Potholes Provincial Park. [PT-BR] A Whistle Buoy está localizada no coração de Victoria e apesar de estar dentro do histórico Market Square, a cervejaria é super nova, ela abriu no verão de 2019. O acolhedor tap room é uma mistura dos climas costeiro de Vancouver Island e urbano do centro da capital de BC. Parte da decoração é feita com material de origem local e reciclado.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Os lotes das cervejas são pequenos: 800 litros por receita. Mas a cerveja carro-chefe (e a melhor!) Coastality Pale Ale tá quase sempre por lá. Essa American Pale Ale é feita com dry hop de Citra e Mosaic e tem os sabores e aromas cítricos certeiros. Outro destaque é a Fernwood Coffee Stout, servida com nitrogênio, ela é aveludada, saborosa e linda com aquele efeito cascada.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Já disse que o tap room é acolhedor, mas repito, porque nos fez querer ficar mais e tomar mais cervejas. [PT-BR] algumas cervejas em boa companhia na colorida e psicodélica Electric Bicycle.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Peguei um flight com a Fractals Saison I, Tezcatzontecatl's Choice Mexican IPA, Nice Hat Amber Ale e Black Lotus Dark Lager, que foram servidas nessa ordem. E foi exatamente nessa ordem da primeira para a última, que eu fui gostando mais das cervejas: comecei pela Saison com alto drinkability, depois pela IPA refrescante, passando pela Amber Ale com sabores de malte caramelo e mel e finalizei com a melhor do flight: a Dark Lager com um toque torrado.  ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ O clima psicodélico está desde a colorida arte da fachada até o interior do tap room.
