Why Repair of Electrical Equipment is Best Left to the Experts
There are a number of different things that a person could claim to be proficient in when thinking about the whole realm of DIY, but we are here to tell you that electricity definitely isn’t one of them. When any electrical element in your home starts to go awry, the last thing that you want to do is have a clueless dabble yourself. Firstly, it is far too dangerous to try to fix without any knowledge, and secondly, making things worse can lead to even more trouble for your home and for your finances. Of all DIY jobs around the home, anything electrical carries great risk. Here are some of the best reasons why repair of electrical equipment is best left to the experts.
Experience is a Necessity
It cannot be underestimated how much experience counts when it comes to something like electrical repair. When so many wires and components look the same to an amateur, it is easy to see how dangerous accidents can occur. The sensible thing to do is leave the tasks to a professional who does not have to play a guessing game; they have seen it all and fixed it all, and this removes any potential mistakes that you as a DIY engineer could make!
You Need Appropriate Tools
The delicate and intricate components of electrical equipment and systems often require equally as delicate and intricate tools to fix them, and this isn’t always something that can be addressed with the standard selection of wrenches and screwdrivers that you might have in your basement! Just one advantage of hiring a professional is that they have access to a host of tools and equipment that you don’t, which makes every stage of their job a lot simpler and safer.
Any Repair Job Has to Keep Up To Code
In certain situations, homeowners might perform a temporary fix on something electrical that, while working, will probably not be up to code. If an accident then occurs with the electrics at fault, this failure to be up to code can have a devastating impact on any insurance claims made. A benefit of hiring a professional electrician to perform all of your required repairs is the fact they are always going to undertake the job in ways that ensures the resulting fix is definitely within the regulations.
Covered For Errors
If you fail to fix something yourself, then all that happens is that you have doubled your problem. You may even break something beyond repair. When a professional takes charge, however, all and any mistakes or complications that occur become their responsibility.
If you are in search of a professional to carry out a repair of electrical equipment, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with the best in the business at USA Electrical Repairs. Feel free to contact us and one of our expert engineers will be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have. We look forward to being able to help you in any way that we can.

In the vast landscape of the American automobile market, understanding car prices can seem like a daunting task. However, with the right knowledge and tools, it becomes a much simpler endeavor. This article aims to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of car prices in the USA, from new cars to used ones, and everything in between. The Intricacies of New Car Prices When it comes to new cars, several factors come into play that determines their prices. These factors can range from the brand and model of the car, the features it offers, to the current market demand and supply. "The price of a new car isn't something that's set in stone. It's a number that's influenced by a variety of factors, some of which can change quite rapidly." - Anonymous Auto Industry Expert For instance, luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz or BMW are likely to have higher prices due to the premium features and superior performance they offer. On the other hand, brands known for producing budget-friendly vehicles, such as Hyundai or Kia, will typically have lower prices. One of the most reliable sources for understanding new car prices is Kelley Blue Book. They provide a wealth of information on the average prices of various car models, making it a valuable resource for anyone looking to buy a new car. You can check out their website for more detailed information. The Dynamics of Used Car Prices Used car prices, on the other hand, are influenced by a different set of factors. The age, mileage, condition, and even the color of the car can significantly impact its price. "A used car's value is driven by its history. The more you know about a car's past, the better you can estimate its future value." - Anonymous Car Dealer For example, a used car that has been well-maintained and has low mileage will typically command a higher price than one that has been heavily used and poorly maintained. One of the best ways to determine the price of a used car is to use resources like CarGurus. They provide an instant market value tool that can help you estimate the price of any used vehicle. The Impact of the Pandemic on Car Prices The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on car prices, both new and used. The disruption in supply chains, coupled with changes in consumer behavior, has led to some interesting trends in the car market. According to a report by NPR, both new and used car prices have stopped skyrocketing and have even dipped slightly. However, the overall cost of owning a car has increased due to factors like higher insurance premiums and maintenance costs. "The pandemic has thrown a wrench in the gears of the car market. Prices have been volatile, and it's more important than ever to do your research before making a purchase." - Anonymous Market Analyst How to Determine Car Prices: Tools and Resources Determining the price of a car, whether new or used, can be a complex process. It involves understanding various factors, from the make and model of the car to its condition and mileage. Fortunately, there are several tools and resources available that can simplify this process. One of the most reliable resources for determining car prices is Kelley Blue Book. They provide comprehensive data on the prices of various car models, both new and used. Their data is based on actual transactions and offers a realistic picture of the current market. You can visit their website for more information. "Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to car prices. The more information you have, the better equipped you are to negotiate a fair price." - Anonymous Car Buying Expert Another useful tool for determining used car prices is CarGurus. They offer an Instant Market Value tool that can provide an estimated price for any used vehicle based on its make, model, age, mileage, and condition. The Pandemic's Impact on Car Prices: A Closer Look The COVID-19 pandemic has had a profound impact on car prices.
The disruption in supply chains and changes in consumer behavior have led to increased volatility in the market. According to a report by NPR, the prices of both new and used cars have stopped skyrocketing and have even dipped slightly. However, the overall cost of owning a car has increased due to factors like higher insurance premiums and maintenance costs. "The pandemic has disrupted the car market in unprecedented ways. Understanding these changes can help buyers navigate the market more effectively." - Anonymous Market Analyst Case Studies: A Closer Look at Car Prices To better understand the dynamics of car prices, let's take a closer look at two case studies. Case Study 1: Pricing of a Popular Car Model Consider the Honda Accord, one of the most popular car models in the USA. According to Kelley Blue Book, the average price of a new Honda Accord is around $25,000. However, this price can vary significantly based on factors such as the specific trim level, optional features, and the region in which you're buying the car. "Even within a specific car model, prices can vary significantly. It's essential to consider all the factors that can influence the price." - Anonymous Auto Industry Expert Case Study 2: Pricing of an Electric Car Model Now, let's consider the Tesla Model 3, a popular electric car model. The starting price for a new Tesla Model 3 is around $39,000. However, this price can increase significantly with additional features and upgrades. It's also worth noting that electric cars like the Model 3 may qualify for federal tax credits, which can effectively reduce the overall cost. "Electric cars often have a higher upfront cost, but they can offer significant savings in the long run due to lower fuel and maintenance costs." - Anonymous Electric Car Advocate Tips for Negotiating Car Prices When it comes to buying a car, negotiation can play a crucial role in ensuring you get the best deal. Here are some tips to help you negotiate effectively: Do Your Research: Before you start negotiating, make sure you have a clear understanding of the average price of the car you're interested in. Tools like Kelley Blue Book and CarGurus can be very helpful in this regard. Be Prepared to Walk Away: If you're not getting the deal you want, don't be afraid to walk away. There are plenty of other dealerships and sellers out there. Consider the Total Cost: Remember to consider the total cost of owning a car, including insurance, maintenance, and fuel costs. A car with a lower purchase price may end up costing more in the long run due to higher maintenance or fuel costs. "Negotiating a car price is as much an art as it is a science. The key is to be informed, patient, and willing to walk away if necessary." - Anonymous Car Buying Expert FAQs Why are car prices so high and will they fall anytime soon? Car prices are high due to factors like increased demand, supply chain disruptions, and higher manufacturing costs. While it's hard to predict, prices may stabilize as these issues are resolved. When will new car prices drop? The drop in new car prices depends on various factors, including market demand, supply chain stability, and economic conditions. It's challenging to predict a specific timeline. What is the average price Americans pay for a new vehicle? As of recent data, the average price Americans pay for a new vehicle is around $40,000. However, this can vary significantly based on the make, model, and features of the vehicle. How to get the Kelley Blue Book Value for a car? You can get the Kelley Blue Book value for a car by visiting their website and entering the make, model, and condition of the car. The tool provides an estimated market value based on these details. What are some upcoming car models and their expected prices? Upcoming car models and their prices vary widely. For instance, the 2024 Toyota Corolla and Honda Accord are
expected to be priced around $20,000-$25,000, while luxury models like the 2024 BMW i4 could be priced over $50,000. #Wiack #Car #CarInsurance #CarRental #CarPrice #AutoLoans

THE AARONS 2019 - Best TV Show
Last year, I said that I had become content with knowing that there are far too many streaming service with far too many great TV shows for me to ever watch everything worthwhile. This year, I signed up for a bunch of free trials and canceled immediately before they billed me. I’m not sure where the contentment went, but I do know that I found a bunch of great contenders. Here are the Aarons for Best TV Show:
Tumblr media
#10. Evil (Season 1) - CBS
Tumblr media
Why, yes, Evil is good. The rare CBS show able to make such a list, the procedural hailing from The Good Wife creators Robert and Michelle King twists the languishing network-TV formula into the devil’s playthings. A spiritual spiritual-successor to The X-Files, Evil blurs the lines between skepticism and belief as its trio of investigators unravel a series of uncanny phenomenon, while asking the viewer if supernatural malice looks any different from human cruelty. The show’s attempts to incorporate modern technology can sometimes be a bit clueless, but overall the show is sold by its ambition. The devil’s not in the details.
Tumblr media
#9. The Good Place (Season 4) - NBC
Tumblr media
Why, yes, Good is good as well. The NBC comedy had questionable long-term sustainability when it first premiered, but thanks to nimble inventiveness, it’s tough to imagine saying farewell four seasons later. The Good Place has been a safe haven during uncertain times as an exaltation of the virtues of forgiveness, kindness, and self-improvement. While less structurally ambitious than past seasons, the fourth season was the show’s most thematically ambitious as the creators played god by crafting a whole new afterlife. In this philosophical debate over the concept of justice, the show more than justified its long-term existence.
Tumblr media
#8. Arrow (Season 8) - CW
Tumblr media
Arrow truly became something else over the course of its run, growing from a gritty Batman Begins-inspired melodrama into a network-dominating superhero universe that just powered-through its most ambitious crossover yet. With a shortened season order and an ominous prophecy of death hanging over its hooded head, Arrow pulled out all the greatest hits from its quiver in a rapid-fire revisitation of settings and reunion of cast members. Bringing Oliver Queen face-to-face with his adult children from the future, the show finally made its litigating of legacy literal. The Green Arrow is gone, but the hero left quite a mark.
Tumblr media
#7. When They See Us (Limited Series) - Netflix
Tumblr media
Representation matters. The stories we choose to tell and the stories we choose to listen to make a powerful impact on the betterment, or worsening, of equality and justice. When They See Us shows us a failure, and hopes for an uplifting. Director Ava DuVernay’s intimate, authentic recreation of the tragedy of the Exonerated Five, boys wrongfully imprisoned for a violent assault in Central Park, unravels the prejudice, malice, and laziness that upend our justice system and destroy lives. The story’s true-to-life intersection with the currently-in-power, forever impeached President is all the more reason that now is the time to see When They See Us.
Tumblr media
#6. Mr. Robot (Season 4) - USA
Tumblr media
The early episodes of Mr. Robot were met with trepidation that it would be little more than an infantile Fight Club rip-off. In its final episodes, creator Sam Esmail codifies that he is no hack. The show’s well-researched technological thievery is as thrilling as ever (Experimental episode formats this season include an entirely dialogue-free heist), but its real endgame boils the conflict down to one of mind and soul. With its final season, the ever-elusive show finally brings all its various string-pullers into the light in gut-wrenching yet deeply-empathetic reveals. Who could have guessed Mr. Robot possessed such humanity?
Tumblr media
#5. Dickinson (Season 1) - Apple TV+
Tumblr media
I would not have stopped for Apple TV, but I would gladly stop for thee, Dickinson. Though inspired by the life and poetry of Emily Dickinson, Alena Smith’s comedy mixes the artist’s love of the macabre with a sense of millennial malaise. Throughout its 19th Century-set trials, tribulations, and guest spots from John Mulaney as Henry David Thoreau, the cast behave as modern teenagers and are backed by a contemporary soundtrack. The approach laces the sitcom’s situations with a delightful ironic wit, but, more preciously, forges a sense of camaraderie across eras. In the relatable burdens of past lovers, we find ourselves, and Dickinson find immortality.
Tumblr media
#4. Tuca & Bertie (Season 1) - Netflix
Tumblr media
While its shared style caused many comparisons to a certain other Netflix series, Tuca & Bertie was in fact a horse of another color. Confident in its voice, and the voices of its stars Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, from the get-go, the show stretched the wings of its animation with more substantial surrealism than its sister show. While a scintillating showcase of cartoon buffoonery, the series’ content is not just for the birds; Tuca & Bertie find courage in the face of addiction, power in the face of trauma, and persistence in the face of sexist power structures. Coupled with Bertie’s boyfriend Speckle, perhaps my favorite character from all of TV, these birds of a feather have impeccable chemistry and insight. Who knows what heights it could have soared to had it not been cancelled after one season?
Tumblr media
#3. Green Eggs and Ham (Season 1) - Netflix
Tumblr media
With unusual grandeur for a project its size, Green Eggs is a show that’s one of a kind. It’s hand-drawn animation (Expensive, I’m sure) gives this adaptation a can’t-miss allure. With an all-star cast, cute jokes, and surprising twists too, you’ll want to follow the Chickeraffe’s road-trip escape from the zoo. And don’t forget the very best part! This TV serves up a whole lot of heart! If you want a show whose theme song is a jam, you surely will love Green Eggs and Ham.
Tumblr media
#2. Watchmen (Season 1) - HBO
Tumblr media
The original graphic novel has long been an essential read for the genre; the new sequel TV show is now a must-watch, man. Respectful of its source material but not beholden to its ideas, Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof’s ‘remix’ revitalized Watchmen’s power by substituting Cold-War nuclear anxiety for the insidious threat of entrenched white supremacy. With a harrowing recreation of the Tulsa Massacre and ingenious retcons to a few comic characters, Watchmen provoked complicated questions on race relations. In true Lindelof fashion, it also wisely left many things unanswered. The quality is good enough that the comic’s writer might just have to rethink his stance on adaptations of his work, and good enough that the viewer might want HBO to rethink their decision to end the show after one year. Yet the retroactively limited series ends on a perfect note, and there is no more.
Tumblr media
AND THE BEST TV SHOW OF 2019 IS...
#1. You’re the Worst (Season 5) - FXX
Tumblr media
Evil is good, and The Worst is the best (What a list I have this year!). Of all the series on this list that capped their run in 2019, You’re the Worst has always had the lowest stakes, but its ending by far hit the hardest. In season five, the whirlwind will-they/won’t-they resistant romance between narcissistic writer Jimmy Shive-Overly and self-destructive PR executive Gretchen Cutler reached its decisive culmination. To suggest the show reached an ending, though, would be a disservice to the beautiful decisions made. Such decisions were a perfectly imperfect solution for two imperfect people, striving each day to be better and do well by one another, meeting each other where they are. In the end, the show’s initial billing as an “anti-rom-com” was proven a mismarriage; the laugh-out-loud show had a profound outlook on what it means to love another person. Hilarious and heartful from beginning to end, You’re the Worst will go down in history as one of TV’s greatest.

Every Book I Read in 2019
This was a heavier reading year for me (heavier culture-consumption year in general) partly because my partner started logging his books read, and then, of course, it’s a competition.
01 Morvern Callar; Alan Warner - One of the starkest books I’ve ever read. What is it about Scotland that breeds writers with such brutal, distant perspectives on life? Must be all the rocks.
02 21 Things You Might Not Know About the Indian Act; Bob Joseph - I haven’t had much education in Canada’s relationship to the Indigenous nations that came before it, so this opened things up for me quite a bit. The first and most fundamental awakening is to the fact that this is not a story of progress from worse to better (which is what a simplistic, grade school understanding of smallpox blankets>residential schools>reserves would tell you), in fact, the nation to nation relationship of early contact was often superior to what we have today. I wish there was more of a call to action, but apparently a sequel is on its way.
03 The Plot Against America; Philip Roth - An alternative history that in some ways mirrors our present. I did feel like I was always waiting for something to happen, but I suppose the point is that, even at the end of the world, disasters proceed incrementally.
04 Sabrina; Nick Drnaso - The blank art style and lack of contrast in the colouring of each page really reinforces the feeling of impersonal vacancy between most of the characters. I wonder how this will read in the future, as it’s very much based in today’s relationship to friends and technology.
05 Perfumes: The Guide; Luca Turn & Tania Sanchez - One of the things I like to do when I need to turn my brain off online is reading perfume reviews. That’s where I found out about this book, which runs through different scent families and reviews specific well-known perfumes. Every topic has its boffins, and these two are particularly witty and readable.
06 Adventures in the Screen Trade; William Goldman - Reading this made me realize how little of the cinema of the 1970s I’ve actually seen, beyond the usual heavy hitters. Ultimately I found this pretty thin, a few peices of advice stitched together with anecdotes about a Hollywood that is barely recognizable today.
07 The Age of Innocence; Edith Wharton - A love triangle in which the fulcrum is a terribly irritating person, someone who thinks himself far more outré than he is. Nonetheless, I was taken in by this story of “rebellion”, such as it was, to be compelling.
08 Boom Town: The Fantastical Saga of Oklahoma City, Its Chaotic Founding, Its Apocalyptic Weather, Its Purloined Basketball Team, and the Dream of Becoming a World-class Metropolis; Sam Anderson - Like a novel that follows various separate characters, this book switches between tales of the founding of Oklahoma City with basketball facts and encounters with various oddball city residents. It’s certainly a fun ride, but you may find, as I did, that some parts of the narrative interest you more than others. Longest subtitle ever?
09 World of Yesterday; Stefan Zweig - A memoir of pre-war Austria and its artistic communities, told by one of its best-known exports. Particularly wrenching with regards to the buildup to WWII, from the perspective of those who had been through this experience before, so recently.
10 Teach us to Sit Still: A Sceptic’s Search for Health and Healing; Tim Parks - A writer finds himself plagued by pain that conventional doctors aren’t able to cure, so he heads further afield to see if he can use stillness-of-mind to ease the pain, all the while complaining as you would expect a sceptic to do. His digressions into literature were a bit hard to take (I’m sure you’re not Coleridge, my man).
11 The Power of Moments: Why Certain Experiences have Extraordinary Impact; Chip & Dan Heath - I read this for work-related reasons, with the intention of improving my ability to make exhibitions and interpretation. It has a certain sort of self-helpish structure, with anecdotes starting each chapter and a simple lesson drawn from each one. Not a bad read if you work in a public-facing capacity.
12 Against Everything: Essays; Mark Greif - The founder of N+1 collects a disparate selection of essays, written over a period of several years. You won’t love them all, but hey, you can always skip those ones!
13 See What I Have Done; Sarah Schmidt - A retelling of the Lizzie Borden story, which I’d seen a lot of good reviews for. Sadly this didn’t measure up, for me. There’s a lot of stage setting (rotting food plays an important part) but there’s not a lot of substance there.
14 Like a Mother: A Feminist Journey Through the Science and Culture of Pregnancy; Angela Garber - This is another one that came to me very highly recommended. Garber seems to think these topics are not as well-covered as they are, but she does a good job researching and retelling tales of pregnancy, birth, postpartum difficulties and breastfeeding.
15 Rebecca; Daphne du Maurier - This was my favourite book club book of the year. I’d always had an impression of...trashiness I guess? around du Maurier, but this is a classic thriller. Maybe the first time I’ve ever read, rather than watched, a thriller! That’s on me.
16 O’Keefe: The Life of an American Legend; Jeffrey Hogrefe - I went to New Mexico for the first time this spring, and a colleague lent me this Georgia O’Keefe biography after I returned. I hadn’t known much about her personal life before this, aside from what I learned at her museum in Santa Fe. The author has made the decision that much of O’Keefe’s life was determined by childhood incest, but doesn’t have what you might call….evidence?
17 A Lost Lady; Willa Cather - A turn-of-the-20th century story about an upper-class woman and her young admirer Neil. I’ve never read any other Cather, but this felt very similar to the Wharton I also read this year, which I gather isn’t typical of her.
18 The Year of Living Danishly: My Twelve Months of Unearthing the Secrets of the World’s Happiest Country; Helen Russell - A British journalist moves to small-town Denmark with her husband, and although the distances are not long, there’s a considerable culture shock. Made me want to eat pastries in a BIG WAY.
19 How Not to be a Boy; Robert Webb - The title gives a clue to the framing device of this book, which is fundamentally a celebrity memoir, albeit one that largely ignores the celebrity part of his life in favour of an examination of the effects of patriarchy on boys’ development as human beings.
20 The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read (And Your Children Will be Glad that You Did); Philippa Perry; A psychotherapist’s take on how parents’ own upbringing affects the way they interact with their own kids.
21 The Library Book; Susan Orlean - This book has stuck with me more than I imagined that it would. It covers both the history of libraries in the USA, and the story of the arson of the LA Public Library’s central branch in 1986.
22 We Are Never Meeting in Real Life; Samantha Irby - I’ve been reading Irby’s blog for years, and follow her on social media. So I knew the level of raunch and near body-horror to expect in this essay collection. This did fill in a lot of gaps in terms of her life, which added a lot more blackness (hey) to the humour.
23 State of Wonder; Ann Patchett - A semi-riff on Heart of Darkness involving an OB/GYN who now works for a pharmaceutical company, heading to the jungle to retrieve another researcher who has gone all Colonel Kurtz on them. I found it a bit unsatisfying, but the descriptions were, admittedly, great.
24 Disappearing Earth; Julia Phillips - A story of an abduction of two girls in very remote Russia, each chapter told by another townsperson. The connections between the narrators of each chapter are sometimes obvious, but not always. Ending a little tidy, but plays against expectations for a book like this.
25 Ethan Frome; Edith Wharton - I gather this is a typical high school read, but I’d never got to it. In case you’re in the same boat as me, it’s a short, mildly melodramatic romantic tragedy set in the new england winter. It lacks the focus on class that other Whartons have, but certainly keeps the same strong sense that once you’ve made a choice, you’re stuck with it. FOREVER.
26 Educated; Tara Westover - This memoir of a Mormon fundamentalist-turned-Academic-superstar was huge on everyone’s reading lists a couple of years back, and I finally got to it. It felt similar to me in some ways to the Glass Castle, in terms of the nearly-unbelievable amounts of hell she and her family go through at the hands of her father and his Big Ideas. I found that it lacked real contemplation of the culture shock of moving from the rural mountain west to, say, Cambridge.
27 Dead Wake: The Last Crossing of Lusitania; Erik Larson - I’m a sucker for a story of a passenger liner, any non-Titanic passenger liner, really. Plus Lusitania’s story has interesting resonances for the US entry into WWI, and we see the perspective of the U-boat captain as well as people on land, and Lusitania’s own passengers and crew.
28 The Birds and Other Stories; Daphne du Maurier - The title story is the one that stuck in my head most strongly, which isn’t any surprise. I found it much more harrowing than the film, it had a really effective sense of gradually increasing dread and inevitability.
29 Someone Who Will Love You in All Your Faded Glory; Raphael Bob-Waksberg - Hit or miss in the usual way of short story collections, this book has a real debt to George Saunders.
30 Sex & Rage; Eve Babitz - a sort of pseudo-autobiography of an indolent life in the LA scene of the 1970s. It was sometimes very difficult to see how the protagonist actually felt about anything, which is a frequent, acute symptom of youth.
31 Doctor Fischer of Geneva or The Bomb Party; Graham Greene - Gotta love a book with an alternate title built in. This is a broad (the characters? are, without exception, insane?!) satire about a world I know little about. I don’t have a lot of patience or interest in Greene’s religious allegories, but it’s a fine enough story.
32 Lathe of Heaven; Ursula K LeGuin - Near-future sci-fi that is incredibly prescient about the effects of climate change for a book written over forty years ago. The book has amazing world-building, and the first half has the whirlwind feel of Homer going back in time, killing butterflies and returning to the present to see what changes he has wrought.
33 The Grammarians; Cathleen Schine - Rarely have I read a book whose jacket description of the plot seems so very distant from what actually happens therein.
34 The Boy Kings: A Journey Into the Heart of the Social Network; Katharine Losse - Losse was one of Facebook’s very earliest employees, and she charts her experience with the company in this memoir from 2012. Do you even recall what Facebook was like in 2012? They hadn’t even altered the results of elections yet! Zuck was a mere MULTI-MILLIONAIRE, probably. Were we ever so young?
35 Invisible Women; Caroline Ciado Perez - If you want to read a book that will make you angry, so angry that you repeatedly assail whoever is around with facts taken from it, then this, my friend, is the book for you.
36 The Hidden World of the Fox; Adele Brand - A really charming look at the fox from an ecologist who has studied them around the world. Much of it takes place in the UK, where urban foxes take on a similar ecological niche that raccoons famously do where I live, in Toronto.
37 S; Doug Dorst & JJ Abrams - This is a real mindfuck of a book, consisting of a faux-old novel, with marginalia added by two students which follows its own narrative. A difficult read not because of the density of prose, but the sheer logistics involved: read the page, then the marginalia? Read the marginalia interspersed with the novel text? Go back chapter by chapter? I’m not sure that either story was worth the trouble, in the end.
38 American War; Omar El Akkad - This is not exclusively, but partially a climate-based speculative novel, or, grossly, cli-fi for short. Ugh, what a term! But this book is a really tight, and realistic look at the results of a fossil-fuels-based second US Civil War.
39 Antisocial: Online Extremists, Techno-Utopians, and the Hijacking of the American Conversation; Andrew Marantz - This is the guy you’ll hear on every NPR story talking about his semi-embedding within the Extremely Online alt-right. Most of the figures he profiles come off basically how you’d expect, I found his conclusions about the ways these groups have chosen to use online media tools to achieve their ends the most illuminating part.
40 Wilding: The Return of Nature to a British Farm; Isabella Tree - This is the story of a long process of transitioning a rural acreage (more of an estate than a farm, this is aristocratic shit) from intensive agriculture to something closer to wild land. There are long passages where Tree (ahem) simply lists species which have come back, which I’m sure is fascinating if you are from the area, but I tended to glaze over a bit. Experts from around the UK and other European nations weigh in on how best to rewild the space, which places the project in a wider context.

Happy Belated Fanfiction Writers Appreciation Day!
I had no spoons to do this the other day, but fanfiction is such a huge part of and legitimate joy in my life that I need to acknowledge that.
I am fandom old y’all!  I’ve been involved in fandom and reading fanfiction since 1994.  I’ve been in dozens of fandoms and read thousands and thousands of fanfictions.  My life has been made richer every day by fanfiction authors and the blood, sweat, and tears that they pour into their work.
I follow many tremendous authors on here - this is only a small sampling of the wonderful gifts that they have put out into the world.  I had to force myself to choose only one from each author.
Thank you all so much for everything you do - for making me laugh and cry, for dreaming up new and exciting ways for me to fall in love with these characters all over again.  I love you all, thank you so much for sharing your remarkable talent with us!
@jadziabear - Some Nights - Bucky/Darcy/Steve.  I believe that this may have been the first Bucky/Darcy/Steve - I love Darcy in this- her heart is so big and she loves so hard and you just want to hug her.
@amidtheflowers - A Little Bravery - Bucky/Darcy.  It would be impossible for me to express my love for this story.  It’s so utterly charming and sweet and I love this happy well-adjusted Bucky completely.  Plus the kissing is A+!
@yespumpkindoodlesthings - Welcome to Vampireville, USA, Darcy Lewis - Brock/Darcy.  I love the shared POV, I love how stupid Brock is over her almost right from the beginning.  I love the Loki of all of this.  I love Brock’s back story.  There’s just a lot to love here.  So charmingly written that I instantly fell in love with this version of Brock and Darcy.
@sarahbeniel - Spring Training - Bucky/Darcy.  Bucky’s POV is so convincingly male - his thoughts and motivations - his interactions with the guys and his musings on Darcy - I absolutely adore the Bucky voice in this.  I get a goofy smile on my face just thinking about what an utter delight this story is.
@dresupi -  Volcanic Like a Hot Spring - Brock/Darcy.  Charming and funny with a thread of sweetness - but oh wow.  So hot.  *fans face*  SO SO SO hot.
@ibelieveinturtles - Deal With the Devil - Brock/Darcy.  Have I mentioned I love AUs?  This made me grin like an idiot - and gave me a tingle in my tummy when Brock makes his final demand.  I have a weakness for not-quite-redeemed Rumlow.  Sue me.  This is delightful!
@cchellacat - The Checkout  - Bucky/Darcy.  This is part of a larger collection of stories and there is a continuation later in the collection - but this piece as a stand alone is so powerful and moving.  By all means, read the second part - but only after you sit a moment and really absorb the impact of this. In a world of heroes and villains - this is so tragic in it’s normalcy.
@grimeysociety - Death of a Marriage - Bucky/Darcy.  Transcendent.  I love AUs and this is amazing.  There is so much detail and depth to this, it made my heart hurt in the best way. This is a beautifully broken love story.
@awww-brain-no - Down in New Orleans - Remy/Darcy. #1. There is not enough Remy/Darcy in the world.  #2. I am soulmate trash and this is delicious.  #3  I love Darcy’s relationship with Logan in this.
@chrissihr - My Two Front Teef - Bucky/Darcy. One of my favorite things about the MCU is the potential for Found Family dynamics - this is one of my favorite Found Family stories.  There is so much to love here.
@zephrbabe - Dragon- Brock/Darcy/Bucky.  Part of a larger work, but this is the chapter that keeps me up at night, thinking of all the things that could happen next. I love the way the world-building seems effortless and makes everything come alive. This is an OT3 (and an AU) that I would be so happy to see more of.
@leftennant - Rule Number One - Bucky/Darcy.  I love AUs and this is a great AU.  The description of Darcy’s first impression of Bucky, and then when you find out why it was so.  Bucky’s family is awesome.  SO AWESOME.  I heart this story so hard.
@anniemar - Easy Chair - Bucky/Darcy.  Friends to Lovers is one of my favorite tropes and this is done SO well.  Poor clueless Bucky.  Sam Wilson is the best.  “Go get the booty.”
@wahwahwaffles - Left Behind - Bucky/Darcy/Steve. Vengeful!Darcy, Multi-personality Bucky.  I love The Winter Solider, he makes me laugh inappropriately.
@higgsboshark - It Don’t Mean a Thing - Bucky/Darcy.  The relationship build in this is fantastic - that moment in the coffee shop makes me absolutely giddy with joy - and that first kiss is a DOOZY!
@iamartemisday - LokiDay - Loki/Jane Foster.  I think that this was the first MCU story I read.  I came looking for fanfic after I saw Thor, and much to my surprise, though I ended the movie shipping Thor/Jane - once I read LokiDay I was totally on the Lokane train!
@nourgelitnius - Live Fast Die Young (Series) - Steve/Darcy.  I love the imagery in this story, it’s lush and lyrical and it’s so dynamic that it serves as another character in the story.  I find myself thinking about this story at the oddest moments and going back to re-read it.  Also, I love AUs.
@anogete - Pulling Me Under - Bucky/Darcy.  I love Darcy being extremely competent at something completely unexpected. - The chemistry in this is off the charts and the many and varied ways and places they take advantage of the chemistry is delightful.
@bjorkshirepudding - Standing Eight Count - Bucky/Darcy.  No longer on Ao3 or hosted online - but this is one of my favorites because it helped excise a lot of negative feelings I had.  Beautifully written AU.
@holdmecloseandfast - Grade A American Beef  - Bucky/Darcy.  Absolutely A+ relationship development, delicious UST, delightful RST, and I love the shared POV.  Darcy’s family is a freaking delight.  Just an absolute favorite!
@puffabilly -  Witness - Clint/Darcy.  One of my first Clint/Darcy reads and remains a favorite.  That first kiss is a doozy!
@inkbert - Here I Am, and I Stand - Bucky/Darcy  Gut-wrenching. I think this is closest I’ve ever come to actually hating Bucky. When I need a good cry, I can always rely on this story to do the trick.
@imogenpenn - Rivers and Roads - Clint/Darcy.  Sweet and a little melancholy - this is a Fraction-style Clint who says so much with his silences.  I love the way he’s there for Darcy in this and their developing relationship is beautiful.
@twistedingenue - The Coming Storm is Gonna be a Crazy Ride - Clint/Darcy.  Another longtime favorite - that moment when Clint tells Darcy how he feels.  *sigh*  Still makes me swoon.
@hardboiledmeggs - In the Blue Dark - Bucky/Darcy.  Has one of my favorite lines of dialogue of all time:   "What are you gonna offer me next? Heroin and a bottle of high fructose corn syrup?"
@nssismore - Let Me Ride - Steve/Darcy Bucky/Darcy.  Hot.  that is all.  HOT like the burning sun.  One of those stories where you remember that it might be weird to tell someone how turned on you are.
@greglet - Ancient Mars - Mark Watney/Mindy Park (The Martian) - Fantastic slow burn - great characterization - Avocado the Cat.
@pinkcoffeefrog - What Big Hands You Have - Brock/Darcy.  I love Fairytale re-tellings, and I love problematic fictional men. This is super sexy and I love that DUN DUN DUN moment at the end.  Excellent!
@becisvolatile - Taste in Men - Clint Darcy.  There is a moment when it goes from simmering UST to getting-read-to-boil-over-RST that is so yummy!   This Clint makes me melty.
@themonkeycabal - Run ‘Verse - Bucky/Darcy.  This story is eventually Bucky/Darcy, but it’s so much more than that.  This is a love story to the character of Darcy Lewis and a gift to everyone that loves her.
@pepperpottsblogs - Bewitched, Bothered, Bewildered - Bucky/Darcy/Steve.  I love Witch!Darcy - and a recurring theme in my favorites, I love mutually pining idiots.  One of those unfinished WIPs that I live in perpetual hope of seeing an update, but am grateful either way.

How Do Impact Sockets Work?
Compressed air is a strong air tool used in auto repair shops. Find socket sets made for heavy-duty use if to want to utilize an impact gun and high-powered air compressor. For usage with most wind instruments, they strongly advise investing in an impact socket Impact and Hand Sockets Dubai made of forged alloy steel. A combination of an impact socket and a wrench can apply more torque to the heads of screws than either with the aid of a manual twist.
Conclusion:  A rotating hammer in an impact wrench accumulates kinetic energy before being pushed to strike an anvil, which applies force to the driver. The torque is increased because this force is applied abruptly rather than constantly upon impact. Pneumatic Impact tools Dubai is also a good choice.

Pneumatic Impact Wrench
Impact wrenches are usually powered by pneumatic or air and/or electricity. Pneumatic impact wrenches can provide maximum torque and are usually considered the most professional impact wrenches. Pneumatic impact wrenches are generally lightweight and easy to use. Electric impact wrenches are also the type to be installed in cars to assist in tire replacement, as air compressors may not be available on the road. An electric impact wrench can provide enough punch for the average repairing things for oneself. Search for the best pneumatic impact wrench dealer in Chennai!
Impact Wrench
The impact wrench or impactor or impact gun or air wrench or air gun, or torque gun is a socket wrench power tool. It is designed for delivering high torque output with minimum exertion by the user. It stores energy in the rotating mass and suddenly delivers it to the output shaft. It is invented by Robert H. Pott Indiana, USA. Here, compressed air is the easiest power source, in addition to electric or hydraulic power.

How Impact Wrench Works?
The impact wrench is the tool used when no other wrench works. The lug nut may be tightly wound. Also, the screw head may come off too much and you may not be able to grasp it well with a normal wrench. For whatever reason, you can use an impact wrench to add power and grip to hard-to-turn screws.
Perfect Enterprises, a top-notch pneumatic impact wrench dealer in Chennai offers a range of premium quality impact wrenches that are easy to use and user-friendly irrespective of the destination and technical specifications associated with it. The materials they are made of are of high quality. As a result, the user's hands and wrists do not get tired quickly and the work cycle is lengthened. This is very important for the safety and health of operators who use it frequently in continuous operation, as well as the non-slip handles attached to all models. Best Holsters for Glock 23 HandyGuyPros
You’ve chosen the Glock 23 for your sidearm. As a .40 caliber gun, it has superior stopping power. Carry it with you in one of the best holsters for Glock 23.
Top Holsters for Glock 23
We’ve selected comfortable, secure, and quick draw holsters to speed up your shopping.
Galco Combat Master Belt Holster for Glock 19, 23
Galco made this leather holster to custom fit both the Glock 19 and 23 since they are the same size and shape. It features an open top design with passive retention provided by the molding. The forward cant reflects the typical carrying angle used by the FBI.
The Combat Master fits belts up to one and three-quarter inches wide. Be sure to select right or left-hand orientation. Plus, you can choose from black or tan finish.
Bianchi 57 Remedy Holster Fits Glock 19, 23
Bianchi’s Remedy holster rides high in the rear hip carry position. The premium leather is molded to fit the gun without adding extra bulk. It fits on belts up to 1 ½ inch wide. There is no strap and no adjustable retention– it’s only the molding that secures the weapon.
Fobus Glock – GL2E2
The Fobus GL2E2 is a classic Glock holster made in Israel. Special forces and law enforcement around the world use this model. It weighs just 2 ounces but doesn’t require maintenance or break-in time.
It has a rubberized paddle that lets it ride high on your belt. The protective sight channel keeps scratches off your finish. And should there be a problem in the future, it’s covered by a satisfaction guarantee and a lifetime warranty.
CYA Supply Co. IWB Holster Fits Glock 19/23 GEN 3-5
CYA Supply Co. makes their holsters in the USA. The veteran-owned company uses a thermoplastic called Boltaron instead of Kydex. That’s because Boltaron outperforms Kydex. It’s resistant to extreme temperatures, abrasion, impacts, and chemicals.
The custom-molded inside the waistband holster has cant, or carry angle, that you can alter up to 15°. It also has adjustable retention pressure. All you need in either case is the included hex Allen wrench.
Once you insert your weapon, you’ll hear a click to tell you that it’s locked in place. Then, you’ll notice that the slide is completely protected by a sweat guard.
Try out the holster risk-free as it comes with a no questions asked return policy plus a lifetime warranty.
BLACKHAWK! SERPA CQC Concealment Holster
The BLACKHAWK! Serpa concealment holster features level II protection against holster grabs. That’s because it has a finger release button that you’ll need to press before you can draw. The position of the button is such that an attacker will find it difficult to get the right angle to take away your gun.
Next, you can alter the passive retention by tightening or loosening a screw. And when you holster your sidearm, you’ll hear a click to let you know it’s secure.
While you cannot alter the carrying angle, you can choose to use either the belt loop or the paddle platform. Be sure to select either right or left-hand draw configuration.
BLACKHAWK! Serpa Sportster HolsterThe Serpa Sportster from BLACKHAWK! allows you to alter the cant, plus it has an auto-lock active retention system. In other words, it sports a finger release button similar to what you’ll find on the Serpa Concealment holster above. Plus, you can adjust the passive retention.
It comes with a paddle platform only, but this means you don’t need a belt to wear the holster. The audible click means that your weapon is secure.
Safariland Glock 19, 23 6378 ALS Concealment Paddle Holster
Safariland’s ALS concealment holster has both a paddle and a belt loop. The loop is compatible with one half to one and three-quarter inch wide belts. This model has a slight forward cant plus a suede interior to protect the gun’s finish. But what’s most important is the ALS, or automatic locking system.
The ALS is Safariland’s method of protecting your weapon. It has a thumb release button that won’t slow down your draw time. But it protects you against holster grabs.
Safariland 7378 7TS ALS Concealment Paddle & Belt Slide Holster Glock 23
The Safariland 7378 holster is made of DuPont SafariSeven nylon that protects your weapon’s finish and stands up to extreme heat and cold without needing maintenance. Inside the holster, the raised standoffs minimize contact with your gun so that you have the smoothest fast draw possible.
Choose from the soft nylon paddle platform or the adjustable belt slide if you want to adjust the carrying angle. The automatic locking system keeps the handgun secure until you release it with your thumb while you draw.
Alien Gear Cloak Mod OWB paddle holster
Experiment with this over the waistband holster if you want to show off your handgun. Alien Gear wants you to try their Cloak Mod for 30 days. If you don’t love it, you can get a full refund. If you keep it, they offer a lifetime warranty plus free future upgrades. If you upgrade to a different handgun, they will send you a new retention shell for free.
Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 IWB Holster
If preferred concealed carry, choose this Alien Gear holster instead. You can tuck your shirt while you’re wearing it. Also essential, you can change the ride height, the retention pressure, and the carrying angle.
Since it’s an inside the waistband model, it has a neoprene backing that wicks away moisture. Plus, the holster conforms to your body so that you can forget that it’s there. It comes with the same satisfaction guarantee and lifetime warranty as other Alien Gear holsters.
Concealment Express IWB KYDEX Holster
The Concealment Express Kydex holster perfectly fits your Glock 23. This thin lightweight material is resistant to moisture and extreme temperatures. It keeps a low profile to avoid printing on your clothes. But it only weighs 2 ½ ounces and never needs maintenance. Concealment Express offers a satisfaction guarantee and an unconditional lifetime warranty.
One of the most exciting features of this holster is that it suitable for a variety of carrying positions. Wear it on your hip, palm-in back, appendix, cross draw. Change the cant up to 15° with a regular Phillips screwdriver. Then use the same tool to change the passive retention pressure. You will hear a click when you holster the gun.
1791 GUNLEATHER Right Hand OWB G19 Leather Holster for Belts – Fits Glock 19, 23
The beautifully crafted 1791 GUNLEATHER holster is hand-crafted from steer hide leather. It fits belts up to one and three-quarter inches wide. And the quick-draw design is available in three colors.
Fierce Defender IWB Kydex Holster Glock 19 23 32 “The +1 Series” GEN 5 Compatible
Take note – if you have one of the latest Glock 23 Gen 5, the Fierce Defender Kydex holster should fit it. But it’s specifically made for appendix concealed carry. More importantly, it has a place for a spare clip of ammo. Both the gun holster and the ammo pouch has adjustable retention.
BLACKHAWK! SERPA Level 3 Tactical Holster
If you want excellent security against holster grabs, try this BLACKHAWK! model. It has a thumb release pivot guard plus the Serpa auto lock release. Secure it to your thigh with quick-disconnect buckles that keep it vertical when you kneel. The rubberized straps prevent it from sliding around but stay out of your way so that you can use your pants pocket.
Relentless Tactical The Defender Leather IWB Holster
Among leather holsters, The Defender from Relentless Tactical stands out because it fits a variety of handguns. That way you can swap your weapon every day if you like. The durable bull hide leather is hand-crafted in America and available in three colors.
Outlaw Holsters Kydex OWB Holster
Outlaw Holsters makes their over the waistband Kydex holsters to fit over 200 different handguns. Of course, this includes the Glock 23. But almost none are plain and boring. You can select from the American flag, the Punisher, Don’t Tread On Me, the Texas flag, and so many more designs.
Moreover, the holsters are available with speed clips or belt loops. Or you can purchase a paddle platform.
CONCEALED CARRIER (TM) Universal IWB Holster for Concealed Carry
Shooters who prefer something other than stiff plastic and leather will appreciate the neoprene holster from Concealed Carrier. It has a thumb retention strap with snap and it clips onto your belt or waistband. As a bonus, they include a holster for an extra magazine.
Gould & Goodrich 804-G17LH Gold Line Shoulder Holster
The Gold Line Shoulder Holster from Gould & Goodrich resembles a harness you’d see in a classic detective movie. It’s fully adjustable and has a back swivel to keep the straps flat. Besides space for your weapon, you can carry two clips of ammo.
ClipDraw Gun Clip, Low Profile Slim Concealed Carry
Skip the bulky holsters and use the ClipDraw’s Gun Clip instead. The only profile it creates is that of the gun itself. Plus, it only takes five minutes to install with the included hardware.
Remove the factory slide plate and install the ClipDraw plate in its place. Tighten the screws to secure the clip, and you’re done. This inexpensive and ambidextrous solution is compatible with all Glocks in all generations.

A Look on World Best Basketball team, Team U.S. at Olympic 2020
This year’s USA Basketball team hasn’t been especially successful to date. They have faced an amusing series of drawings and lost in a scrimmage to a Jeff Van Gundy-coached mishmash of fringe NBA players.
It would still be astonishing if they fall short, given the star power remaining on the team and the depth of starting-level NBA players. But the team is noticeably weak. With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics almost a year away, USA Basketball will hope some superstars commit to playing.
Olympic Basketball enthusiasts from all over the world can grab their Olympic Basketball Tickets from one of the best online ticketing market places.
Here’s an interesting theoretical for next year: If every the eligible American basketball player is healthy and willing to play in Tokyo 2020.
So, let’s make an Olympic 2020 version of the Dream Team. There is one crucial difference between now and 1992, Some of the league’s best players now aren’t from the United States, so we have no Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, or Joel Embiid to choose from, among other players. I’m still confident this team would beat the ‘92 team handily because that’s the way things go.
The U.S. Team Rosters Listed
Point guards:
Tumblr media
Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, Kyrie Irving. I’m carrying three-point guards because I couldn’t bring myself to leave any of these guys off. Steph will start for this team, and both Lillard and Kyrie will get minutes off the bench because a Curry-Harden backcourt is weak defensively.
Walker and Russell Westbrook are the two notable snubs here, but I don’t feel too bad about leaving them off because it’s clear that Curry, Lillard and Irving are the class of the position. Maybe Trae Young will break out with an All-NBA season and throw a wrench into this discussion.
Shooting guards:
Tumblr media
James Harden, Klay Thompson. It is far from a guarantee that Thompson will make an appearance in Tokyo in 2020. He may want to avoid putting too much strain on his torn ACL after a possible late-season return to the Warriors and he already has a gold medal in his trophy case.
But in an ideal world, Klay is here because he is the perfect shooter and low-key personality to have around on a team like this. Harden can also shoot, obviously, and is probably the best scorer in the world now that Kevin Durant is rehabbing a long-term injury. There is no way that Harden is not the starting shooting guard on this 2020 team.
If I had to replace one of these two, Bradley Beal, Victor Oladipo, Devin Booker, Middleton, CJ McCollum, and Mitchell would be in the conversation.
Small forwards:
Tumblr media
LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George. This is a fun and versatile group. If we wanted, we could play these guys all over the place, even all together at the same time. Imagine facing a team with all three of LeBron, Kawhi, and George. You’re not scoring, and you’re not going to have enough defenders to keep up with them.
The starting lineup will have to be configured so that LeBron and Kawhi can both start. But as with the original Dream Team, the starting lineup doesn’t matter too much. They’re just fun thought exercises.
Power forwards:
Tumblr media
Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green. An important caveat: I’m going to want AD to play center a good bit because we already have 11 players and thus can only afford one more. Davis at the 5 unlocks a number of combinations that include as well as one or two of the above trio. Draymond can play the five too, in smaller lineups, so we have some nice versatility.
I imagine Draymond as the Charles Barkley of this team: an undersized, outgoing power forward who commands attention. Draymond will score less than Sir Charles but make a huge impact on the defensive end.
Among the forwards, Jimmy Butler was the toughest omission. He was close and would’ve made it as another forward if we didn’t have three-point guards that I didn’t want to leave off. I could have included Al Horford and Blake Griffin, too, and you never know if Zion Williamson forces his way here.
Olympic fanatics can get up to the minute updates of Olympic Tickets through our most trusted online ticketing market place. OlympicTickets2020.com is the most reliable source to book Tokyo 2020 Tickets.
