My Hollywood life right here... made flannel handkerchiefs today. This morning, my "Who Am I" playlist played @jewel "Hands". My 6yo asked me what it meant, so we had a conversation en route to school about the importance of 'doing the work,' ("I wont be made idle with despair") to help others to the best of our ability, no matter how small that work feels ("my hands are small"). We talked about what it means to use your voice for others (since he's a little too young for amplifying marginalized voices versus just plain speaking up) ("where theres a man who has no voice, there I shall go singing"), and how whether you believe in a Deity or not, "we are God's eyes, we are God's hands" means that we have a responsibility to see injustice and work to fix it.
