Habár minden sportágból és angolból is jól teljesített, igazi erősségei a humán tantárgyak voltak, a művészet, az irodalom és a zene. Jer és Bomi már Zanzibáron megkezdték fiuk zenei nevelését – leginkább operába jártak vele -, de Freddinek megtetszett a nyugati popzene is, leginkább a zongoraalapú rock’n’roll. A St Peter’sben tagja lett az iskolai énekkarnak, valamint színjátszókörös darabokban is fellépett. Az iskolai kórus kizárólag keresztény zsoltárokat, Handel és Bach darabokat, gregorián énekeket, valamint zsidó chesedeket adott elő.

Szívesen hallgatta India egyik legismertebb filménekesét, Lata Mahngeshkart. Az iskolai könyvtárban nagyon sok Mahngeshkar lemez mellett megtalálhatóak voltak a híres egyiptomi énekes, Oum Kalthoum felvételei is, akit Freddie gyakran meg is személyesített. Itt lehetősége volt számos Angliából származó énekes munkáját is meghallgatni, mint Cliff Richard vagy Tommy Steele. Freddie szinte mindent eljátszott, amit csak lehetősége volt megtanulni, és ennek jelentős szerepe volt a jövője alakulásában.

Although he performed well in all sports and English, his real strengths were human subjects, art, literature and music. Jer and Bomi had begun educating their son in Zanzibar - most of them attending opera - but Freddie liked Western pop music, most notably piano-based rock'n'roll. At St Peter's, he became a member of the school choir and also performed in drama groups. The school choir performed exclusively Christian Psalms, Handel and Bach pieces, Gregorian chants, and Jewish cheseds.

He was eager to listen to one of India's most famous film singer, Lata Mahngeshkar. Along with many Mahngeshkar records, the school library also includes recordings by the famous Egyptian singer Oum Kalthoum, often personalized by Freddie. Here he also had the opportunity to listen to the work of several English singers, such as Cliff Richard or Tommy Steele. Freddie played almost everything he had the opportunity to learn, and it played a significant role in shaping his future.

As for Freddie's own musical talent, his aunt, Sheroo Khlory, first noticed: “Once, I think, at the age of 9, Freddie ran up to breakfast, called the radio, and when the song was over, he sat down and played the melody. I thought I had to take his to a music teacher. He has a good ear for music! ”. Sheroo convinced his parents to be a music teacher, so he moved from Mangeshkar to Mozart. Later, Freddie retired from piano and solfege. On November 7, 1958, he received his certificate at the St Peter's School Annual Awards.
