In June of 2016, Senator Al Franken (D-MN), requested a report on FBI facial recognition usage. This Fusion piece outlines the findings of that report, specifically that the FBI’s Facial Analysis, Comparison and Evaluation Services group (FACE) has access to 411 million photos of Americans for use in facial recognition. The problem? The FBI isn’t enforcing accuracy standards.
