Oh, BND is also my favorite logo.

I did my research while designing the little guy. The robe he has on is based on the beginning of the logo, with the line and ball.

FUN FACTS:

On top of the mask is a three-pawed toad (which is a Chinese mythical creature) called Jin Chan (Golden Toad). The three-legged toad is interpreted differently in other cultures, such as representing spiritual wealth, power and financial wealth.

The mask is a ceramic head sculpture of Chinese Taoist philosopher Guo Xiang found at the Museum of Eastern Art in Moscow. The logo was originally a direct copy of the sculpture, but apparently the museum attempted to sue VID (BND). In order to avoid legal difficulties, they decided to digitally alter the mask.

When the opening logo was introduced, there were many complaints from parents with children who found it scary, especially when it preceded children's television.
