I’ve been feeling lately like my work is lame. Mainly because there’s not much substance to it. I’ve had a few shoots this year where I’ve been like “yes, this is it, this is what I’m about” but compared to last year that is not happening as much and I look at where I want to be and I don’t really know how to get there. I thought I did. I’m not trying to cop out, I’m just not sure what the path is. Do I need to edit more? Shoot more film? Work to collaborate with more people on the same page? I’m feeling this out and I’m not sure how to find people who want the same things. Creatively, I’ve come to realise I’m at the mercy of how inspired and creative and on the same page I am to the people I work with and I know I need to give something more. I just don’t know what that is or how to find it. So I’m seeking to find that and I felt talking about that is part of the process. I’ve included images I’ve taken and ones where I feel compelled to move towards. I want my work to have a feeling and texture to it. And I do believe that by looking for that. I’ll get there. Side note: this is how I figure out who to charge rates for and who to collaborate with. It’s not a principled thing these days.
