A major argument of the book is that the reign of corporate servant Democrats like Obama and Biden--and Bill and Hillary Clinton--has led to the monstrosity of the Trump presidency. Democratic elites would rather lose to Trump than have someone like Bernie Sanders as their standard bearer. Serving the cause of corporate power at the expense of ordinary people has depressed turnout at election time among the Democrats’ base and thus empowered the increasingly radical far right Republican Party: _ _ _ Overall Obama has publicly treated Trump very softly in spite of the fact that a recent documentary on Hillary Clinton reports that Obama referred to Trump as a fascist in a private October 2016 conversation with Tim Kaine. The conclusion from the author’s analysis seems to be that Obama has behaved this way because he wishes to portray himself as a respectable ruling class mandarin who has no inclination to leverage his considerable personable popularity in mobilizing the masses in opposition to the fascist demagogue Trump.- - - No matter what Obama wants us to believe, voting is only a minor component of a truly politically engaged citizenry. The author also covers Trump’s criminal response to Covid--19 and the anti-police brutality protests, arguing that if Trump loses the election, he is such a threat to the American people and the human race in general that a mass popular uprising should force his removal from office long before January 20, 2021. The author thinks that similarly should be the course of action if Trump wins or loses but refuses to accept defeat. (amazon.com **** review)
