Can we see boxer!Nick seeing shy!Reader for the first time?
The excitement of the crowd was thrilling in itself, the chanting and the jeers as two equally impressive and stacked men had been in the throes of a fight. Your eyes had grown and remained wide when you were enraptured by the powerful swings from the dark blonde fighter to the dark brunette.
“They’re friends!” Your college roommate and the woman who brought you here, Desi, had explained the general concept of this gladiator’s arena in the modern age.
“They’re friends?!” You squeaked, inhaling and holding your breath when the dark blonde opponent fell. “They’re wailing on each other like they hate each other!”
She laughed and wrapped her arm around your shoulders, yanking you closer into her side as she moved down on the stadium bench seats. She was trying to give you a better angle of the ring, allowing you to see the manner in which the brunette was beating his opponent and friend.
“Lloyd Hansen is the guy losing,” she pointed to the man down, his face bloodied and brushed, “Nick Fowler is the guy winning. They’re friends, they like kicking each others ass.”
“Oh god-“ you squeaked again and covered your eyes when Nick Fowler started swinging again, unable to see the other guy taking the blows.
“Oh come on! Doesn’t it make you horny?” Desi laughed again, cathartically waiting for the match to be over so she could take one of the two home. “The sex after these matches…”
“Have you ever slept with one?” You only removed your hands from your eyes as the crowd exploded in cheers and the final bell rang.
As you lowered your hands you’d taken notice of Desi standing on the bench seat with a spare bra hanging from her fingertips and her wild screeching haunts an attempt to gain the winner’s favour. You watched her, unable to look away as she flung one of her bras toward the stage, giggling when it was snatched up by the dark blonde.
“Come on! Come on!” She grabbed your hand before people started to leave their seats at the end of the game, desperate and hastened to beat the crowds. “If we’re quick we can beat the usual bunnies.”
“Bunnies?” You furrowed your brows, calling after her as she lead you from the stands down to the cement floor, and even further back toward the dressing rooms.
“Belt bunnies? Whatever you wanna call them, they’re girls looking to have sex with the boxers.” Desi had been simultaneously describing herself and jeering at the women waiting to see the two coming out.
“Isn’t that what you’re doing?” You pressed yourself back against the wall, unwilling to make yourself a target of the women that were in competition with each other.
“I don’t come to every match, just the ones that Hansen & Fowler have.” She grinned and winked, tossing her raven black hair over her shoulder with a flourish before she stepped forward and yanked her mini-dress down.
“I can go…? I can wait outside..?” The door opened and the first had come out, the guy who lost, though he seemed to wear his loss well.
He hadn’t appeared as big now as he had in the ring, a surprising twist, though he was over 6ft tall and clearly had great muscle definition, he didn’t appear to be an overtly broad and wide man. His dark blonde hair was brushed out of his face and his plump pink lips were tugged into a smirk as he stepped away from his dressing room door with some women clawing to cling to him.
“Hansen,” Desi drew her hand over his bicep as he passed, affectively stirring his attention and captivating hm for a moment, “tough loss isn’t it?”
“Desi, I’m starting to think you’re obsessed.” Lloyd hadn’t brushed the other women off, but he had shown a heightened interest in your friend. “You want to wet my dick that bad, baby?”
“As long as its cleaned first.” She crooned seductively, casting a look back over her shoulder to you with a smirk that you knew meant she was on a mission.
“Fowler!” Lloyd called without turning his head, the voice raised had matched almost synonymously with the door nearest to you opening and the winner stepping out.
In your attempt to push yourself out of the spotlight, you had placed yourself almost directly in front of the dressing room across the way from Lloyd Hansen’s. It was a mistake for you to be here and yet you didn’t have to the chance to scurry away.
You had turned, and were immediately face to chest with Nick Fowler. You had to crane your neck to look up at him, your eyes growing in size at the sheer size of this dangerous and powerful man who had just laid Hansen out. You were watching him just as he was watching you, his blue and captivating eyes holding yours.
“Who’s your friend, Des?” He spoke with a heavy accent, New York or Boston, the added detail to his already husky voice was surprising.
“Nick Fowler, this is my roommate and my friend.” Desi had pulled away from Lloyd Hansen to wrap her arm around your shoulders. “Y/N L/N.”
“Y/N.” His brown hair was still damp from sweat, his lips, like Lloyd’s, had been tugged into a smirk and you could see the lines of a tattooed beneath his light blue shirt. “You’ve never brought her along before, Desi. Why’d you hide someone so cute?”
“I-“ you stammered, your head had become simultaneously filled and empty as you struggled to say something, anything.
“You enjoy the fight, sweetheart? Its your first fight?” He dipped his head, giving you a better look at the fighter.
He was broader than Lloyd Hansen, a few inches taller with more muscle definition. His eyes were crystalline and intensely blue, his lips plump and pink with a little cut on the corner of his mouth.
“I’ve never…” you opened and closed your mouth, your head whipped to the side as you looked for Desi for help.
“She’s shy, Fowler. Don’t scare her.” Desi warned him, her eyes narrowing slightly.
“You wanted to take one of us home, Des?” Nick spoke to her but stared at you, amused and almost taken by you.
You shifted your weight from foot to foot, hyper-aware of the way your thighs had rubbed together with every subtle movement. The cut of your plain black shirt against your chest had seemed painfully tight despite how comfortable you’d found it moments before, and you were already reaching for the front to pull it down to give you something to do.
“Des, you wanna go to a party?” Lloyd drew her attention back to him, the same kind of smirk on his face. “Bring your friend-“
“I’m not a partier. I don’t…party…” you quipped and then rubbed your hands on the front of your shirt. “I’ve never…I don’t…like crowds-“
“Relax, sweetheart.” Nick cut you off, looking past you to Desi. “This party’s a hell of a lot more private than you’d expect. It’s a few friends, their girlfriends.”
“Its not bad, Y/N.” Desi reassured you, looking back at Lloyd with hunger.
“I’m sure I could even find ya a quiet corner to read your book.” Nick whispered in your ear, somehow knowing what was in your bag without even having to guess.
You don’t know what had come over you. With a sharp exhale you agreed, and allowed Desi to pull you along again.
