Diving into Pioneer

I’ve been a fan of Modern ever since I started playing Magic but I finally decided to cave into the hype and build my first pioneer deck.  The deck?  Arclight Phoenix of course because I already have most of the cards.  I built mine based on Caleb Scherer’s list but improvised on the Petty Theft//Brazen Borrower because they’re around $40 each so in the mainboard I decided to put Narset and in the sideboard I put a Mystical Dispute.  I’m thinking about maybe replacing Narset in the mainboard with a Finale of Promise.  I had most of the cards for the upgrade already and had to buy $20 for the rest.  I’m also planning on adding two copies of Sulfur Falls once I can afford them because this time of year I’m pretty strapped for cash.  I’m glad I can finally make use of my Arclight Phoenix deck after Faithless Looting got banned.  Here’s my full list:https://aetherhub.com/Deck/Public/199156.

I’m also building a second pioneer deck but it’s not a priority right now.  I’m probably going to wait until after Christmas to build it.  I saw it on MTGGoldfish about a week ago and thought it would be a fun deck to build since it went 3-2 on the stream and I already have half of the dual lands from my “exploding Zeppies” standard deck last year.  Plus it has one of my favorite one-drop kill spells (Fatal Push) and plays like my current Rakdos Sacrifice (aka Burning Zeppies) deck.  Here’s the deck tech stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZcWVnKXALr4&t=401s

All of the cards for Phoenix should be here next week and even though my LGS doesn’t have pioneer tournaments I can’t wait to finally have a competitive deck built around Arclight Phoenix.
