Making Breadler, a drawn GIF tutorial

Well, I tried my best...

Open Photoshop CS4 (or whatever version that allows animation) and under the 'Window' menu, check 'Animation' so that you end up with an Animation Timeline bar on your screen. If it isn't already, convert to Timeline animation located in the animation's option menu.

Under the same option menu, adjust the 'Document Settings' to however long you're making your piece, and to 24 frames per second (fps)

Create a New Layer. Draw a toaster on it. If the toaster looks lame, use a reference.

The layer will show up in your Animation Timeline with a green bar that indicates how long that particular layer will be seen in your animation.

Make a New Layer. Draw a Breadler on it without the bits that will be animated.

Make another New Layer. Give the grain some legs and adjust the layer's green bar to take up 18 out of 24 frames (1 second). It should also be the topmost layer, so it appears over top of all other layers.

Make yet another New Layer. Draw a new set of legs in a different position. Adjust the layer to takes up the rest of the frames, 18 to 24.

Play it through a couple times until you are happy with the timing. Then under the 'File' menu, click on 'Save for Web & Devices...'

Save it as a .gif and choose the best settings that keep it under 500kb. Or whatever you'd like the limit to be. And PRESTO, you have yourself a gif. There was probably an easier way of doing it, but that's how I did it so there you have it.
