It's the end of National Breastfeeding Week (Aug 1st-7th)! Remember to support the Mom's who choose and are able to Breastfeed their babes! I also wanted to highlight the many ways Women can feed their babies. Not all women are able to Breastfeed successfully and there's no shame in that. I'm fortunate that my little girl can nurse from me and get strength for her little immune system. But, my milk isn't fatty, so we supplement with formula to keep her happy and plump. Now she's old enough to try vege/fruit purees and teeth on carrots. This post could also be called: The many ways Tallulah Pearl eats. #breastfeedingweek2020 #feedthebabes #breastfeedingmama #pumpthemboobies (at Huntsville, Alabama) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDmgf5knzqdD0QnUh1R5QjRCy5kGOJ2HZzggfY0/?igshid=sn3axklqmr3s

Artificial feeding leaves a major environmental footprint that contributes to the depletion of natural resources, environmental degradation and greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming and climate change. #wbw2020 @waba_global @who @unicef @unwomen #breastfeedingweek2020 #breastfeeding https://www.instagram.com/p/CDiwg1tFraV/?igshid=1mm3atoj0lvoe

Fresh from the pool; Theodore saw an opportunity and took it! Definitely my favorite breastfeeding photo by far. When my girls were nursing 11 and 19 years ago, most of our nursing pictures are just pictures of me with a nursing cover. I love that breastfeeding is becoming more normalized! #breastfeedingweek2020 #worldbreastfeedingweek2020 #happymama #happybaby https://www.instagram.com/p/CDjy27kAhyt/?igshid=1l9mg5y02k6s4

World Breastfeeding Week or WBW is an annual global celebration held to spread awareness around the health benefits of breastfeeding infants. Every year this week is celebrated between 1 and 7 August to encourage breastfeeding around the world. For the first seven days of August 2020 people around the world will be celebrating and honouring World Breastfeeding Week. Breastfeeding promotes better health for mothers and children alike. Increasing breastfeeding to near-universal levels could save more than 800 000 lives every year, the majority being children under 6 months. Breastfeeding decreases the risk of mothers developing breast cancer, ovarian cancer, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. It is estimated that increased breastfeeding could avert 20 000 maternal deaths each year due to breast cancer. The theme of World Breastfeeding Week 2020 is “Support breastfeeding for a healthier planet”. Breastfeeding provides every child with the best possible start in life. It delivers health, nutritional and emotional benefits to both children and mothers. And it forms part of a sustainable food system. But while breastfeeding is a natural process, it is not always easy. Mothers need support – both to get started and to sustain breastfeeding. Skilled counselling services can ensure that mothers and families receive this support, along with the information, the advice, and the reassurance they need to nourish their babies optimally. Breastfeeding counselling can help mothers to build confidence while respecting their individual circumstances and choices. Counselling can empower women to overcome challenges and prevent feeding and care practices that may interfere with optimal breastfeedings, such as the provision of unnecessary liquids, foods, and breastmilk substitutes to infants and young children. EWEI believes, if every lactating mother can persuade only another mother to breast-feed her baby, the number of breast-fed children will be doubled! @waba_global @unicef @who @untrustfundevaw @unwomen @unicef_nigeria #breastfeedingweek2020 #wbw2020 https://www.instagram.com/p/CDV0dSiJ7xy/?igshid=i69bq1bduih6
