People really should stop apologising for not posting art for a while or not drawing certain things or not making fanart "on time"... You don't owe anyone anything, draw for yourself and draw whatever you like whenever you like, that way you will find actual joy in what you make and in the process of making it, rather than just waiting for the number of likes to go up and feel that rush of being perceived and approved as an artist within a fandom (or completely dissapointed when the artpiece doesn't get that much attention as you originally expected) I don't see this mentality as much on tumblr but i used to always get a tweet of the sort on my twitter tl and it makes me mad.

I can speak for myself on this topic, specifically about this one drawing i made months ago with the motivation that the fandom was going to love it and it would blow up, and it did, because i specifically added details and changed certain things on the whole piece that i knew would grab people's attention and get me numbers. Funilly enough: i don't like that drawing, i like some details on it but i don't like the whole thing. I don't like the colors, i don't like some of the composition choices, i don't like the vibes, etc. and it is one of my most most liked and commented drawings ever, both on here and on my former twitter account (it's been long deactivated). The process of making that drawing was boring, annoying and tiring, all that for a final product which i, myself, don't even enjoy. So every time someone apologises for any of those things, i get reminded of this drawing.

However, i have lots of fun doodling lovely splatoon characters that will get 30 notes max, and they won't make me hate this hobby.
