"Guide to Croaghan (Brian O'Malley)" 1913 oil on canvas by Robert Henri (1865-1929) at @cummermuseum the Cummer Museum of Art in Jacksonville, Florida. Written near the painting: Robert Henri received his first formal art training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and eventually studied in Paris under the tutelage of William Bourguereau (1825-1905). Henri later rejected the sentimentality of French academic painting for contemporary scenes of urban life in America. He became best known for his forceful portraits of everyday people and strove to capture the character of each sitter. This portrait depicts Brian O'Malley, the guide who escorted Henri and his wife to the cliffs of Croaghan in Ireland. I am SO enthusiastic about The Rook by Daniel O'Malley! An urban fantasy with a really funny, kickass heroine who handles memory loss like a pro. I had to get the second book as quickly as possible, and I'm really enjoying Stiletto as well. There is a perspective shift, but luckily we still get a lot of Myfanwy Thomas exposure 💙 . Also, why do I ALWAYS fall for the evil guy? I am hugely in love with Gestalt and I know I'm not supposed to be in the slightest 😂 but he was just so interesting and, well, PROBABLY redeemable. And just think.. four bodies.
