Okay I’m absolutely LOVING this book so far..

Spoilers for Brotherhood by Mike Chen below

(not really big spoilers just a list of moments and details I’m obsessed with from the first 15 chapters)

I can’t stop thinking about:

Obi-Wan thinking about Anakin 90% of the time

Obi-Wan worrying about Anakin like a mama bird who’s baby has left the nest

Anakin not knowing what to do with authority and freedom now that he has it

Obi-Wan finding that ironic considering how often he had to deal with Anakin begging to be allowed to do whatever he wanted

Dex teasing Obi-Wan about Satine

Dex continuing to be Obi-Wan’s go to information guy

Anakin and Padme being really cute on their little date

Anakin taking Padme “racing” because it’s his favourite thing to do

Padme being excited about bringing Anakin to a place that sells food that might remind him of Tatooine

Obi-Wan and Anakin both making themselves feel better by imagining how the other would be making fun of them

Both Obi-Wan and Anakin using memories of Qui-Gon to centre themselves

References to other Star Wars novels that I’ve actually read!! (Padawan and Master & Apprentice)

The chapters are super short which is great for my ADHD

And the vibes are a perfect mix of AOTC and The Clone Wars

My absolute favourite part though, has been:

Anakin having to deal with the younglings (…yikes)

Also Obi-Wan finding it hilarious that Anakin has to deal with the younglings

Can we talk about how it’s canon that Padmé lovingly stares at Anakin when she can and yearns to hold her gaze on him for longer than necessary?

I would imagine this would become a sort of “inside thing” between Anakin and Padmé with her just gazing at him while they’re sitting together. I can just picture a scenario like this playing out:

Padmé: *gazing adoringly at Anakin*

Anakin: *notices* “What’s the matter, beloved? Getting tired of this face?”

Padmé: Never, my dearest. I just wanted to look at you a little longer.

Cal Kestis Week Day 5 - "Of course it's you"

Fingers accidentally brushing against the Sith's saber, Cal looked up, sweat rolling against his temple as the familiar echo of a childhood hero flashed before his eyes, taking the place of the nightmare currently facing him.

"Of course it's you."

Or : Cal's psychometry made him realize the dark secret behind the purge when he sees the corrupted form of Knight Skywalker in Darth Vader.

Bonus Vader without Anakin because I struggled too much drawing this fucker not to share.

i am once again thinking of that one royai fic that utterly rewrote my brain chemistry, pikkulef's my own worst friend and my own closest enemy. it's an 03/BH crossover where the two roys exchange places for a couple of days due to ✨ alchemy ✨ and walk a mile in the other's shoes, and it's just 50k words of pikkulef and quietshade absolutely FLEXING their thorough, nuanced, and complete understanding of the differences between the verses.

i remember the first time I read it i was like, hold on. this is good. this is REALLY GOOD. i had to slow down and savour this fic because, hoooly shit. there are so many little details they've taken into account, from how hawkeye's tattoo or lack thereof affects her and by extension her relationship with roy, to how roy's relationship with gracia and elicia differs in a world where Yet Another Man's Battlefield didn't happen, to how BH roy would see the murder of the rockbells differently to 03 roy. every time i reread it i discover some new detail that has me shrieking moaning yelling disappearing into the woods to howl at the moon.

and the royai is PEAK. it's two for the price of one because you get to see both 03 royai and BH royai and they're both SO SO well written. i can quote whole paragraphs of the last chapter because the resolution(s!!!) are SO DAMN GOOD i've read it so many times okay i'm gonna go read it again.

I'm about 2/3rds of the way through The Vulcan Academy Murders - really like it so far! The story is intriguing, I'm loving all the Sarek POV chapters, everything with Spock and Kirk is excellent

Only downside is all the chapters about Daniel Corrigan.

I really don't want to read half a book about a 70 year old marrying his friend's barely legal daughter who he watched grow up since she was a baby 😐 It takes me out of my enjoyment of the story big time.

To this very day, even as a joke! I just find the “Anakin was bad at sex” headcanon so lame and completely untrue 😭 Padmé wasn’t craving after him 24/7 for no reason at all. And the fact that some people actually buy it is just a disservice to Anakin’s completely romantic persona and his most defining trait to prioritize others before himself. Why would he fall short during intimacy for the woman he loves most? Be fr, please!

“She felt her body turn liquid with heat, tasted wine and danger and sweet, sweet safety.”

Yeah, she’s totally not affected by him just kissing her.

“his hands roaming her body now, setting her on fire whenever he touched” …

“His scorching lips were a blessing and a torment”

Hmm, doesn’t seem like she’s getting riled up by his touch at all. Yup. No way.

“She could feel what it cost him to pull back from the brink, and knew he felt the price she paid for not surrendering.”

Nah, she’s completely unfazed by him, pfft. It totally didn’t take anything for her to pull back from his tempting hands.

“Fervently hoping the blush had faded from her cheeks”

Still blushing after the whole ordeal that went down between her and her husband?? Yeah, that’s not the sign of a horny woman in love. Y’all are crazy.

“Her lips were tingling, and where Anakin’s desperate fingers had branded her, she burned.”

Still thinking about his touch and kiss after quite some time has already passed and seeks distraction through her colleagues from her horny thoughts of her husband? She doesn’t want him at all. Can’t you see?

“Squealing with laughter, she let him tumble her to the sheets, mock-protesting as his embrace crushed the fragrant fruit against her skin.”

Sounds like she hates it when she’s getting intimate with him, just look at the sounds of her squealing laughter, and letting him tumble her to the sheets. Poor Padmé, Anakin doesn’t seem passionate at all.

“Eyes sparkling, cheeks flushed, hair riotously tousled around her slender shoulders.”

Yeah. Eyes sparkling, cheeks all flushed, and hair tousled is no indication of an afterglow, she’s just bored out of her mind cause Anakin sucks at sex, it’s so obvious.

“And she wished for me to relate to you that she believes the both of you might… avoid a public scene… all afternoon. And perhaps all night, as well.”

Hmm, now why would Padmé want to clear her schedule all afternoon and all night to spend with Anakin? She probably just wants to play checkers.

“But the look in her eye gave all the context he needed” …

“You’re the pilot. Think you can find us somewhere private?”

I don’t even have sarcasm for this one….

But yeah, Anakin probably sucked at sex.
