Week 21: Tearjerker

We’ve all had those nights where we just want to curl up in a blanket burrito and watch sad movies so that we can cry our feelings away and feel justified for it, and so that if anyone walks in we can say ‘no, it was just the movie!’ This week, we’re paying tribute to those fics that do the same; the ones that made you cry, sob, and wail with emotion, that have stayed with you for so long after you read it, that they’re a part of your personality at this point. The ones that you think of immediately when someone asks ‘hey, what’s a fic that will me cry?’ Those fics.

Criteria for recommendations:

SFW or NSFW

May feature any member!

Does not have to have a sad ending! Happy endings are welcome! They just have to have angst as a majority genre!

Hello admins, I’d like to recommend oblivion by @softlyjiminie for Tearjerker category. Its a demon au which I really like, and set out of the flashbacks that link with the present day scenarios really flows well. I love characterisation of Jungkook and how you can really feel his pain, how much losing someone can affect you and change you as a person! Thank you xx

Faded Love by jamaisjoon! It's so unbelievably sad when you're watching the MC struggle with Jimin pulling away and then the realisation. It's heartbreaking :( I also self-rec Deus Ex Machina because it's just basically like...a few thousands words of heartbreak with android!Jungkook along with Forever Has A Limit, another sad story with Jungkook (sorry JK) in which...well I can't spoil it but not every story ends with a fairytale!

Yes hello for tearjerker week I would love to rec Inked by kookswife. Y/n is in love with her best friend's soulmate (Joonie!) and it's honestly one of the most heartbreaking things I've ever read. This fic has everything: lots of crying, vmin in love, seokjin the tattoo artist, surprise pregnancy, you name it! It's angst all the way down but with a satisfyingly happy ending. A must-read for sure!!!

Hi! I don't know if anyone's recommended it, but for Tearjerker Week I'd like to recommend Beyond Reach by jimlingss. I'm not usually a big crier, but this fic–this author in general–has such a way about bringing out the most intense emotions. No matter what you've gone through there's something you can relate to in some way, and it's heartachingly beautiful. Anyway. It'll certainly pull some tears from some of the thickest skinned romantics.

For tearjerker week, I'd like to recommend my own fic It's Enough. It's a Jungkook story where he supports his wife as the young couple suffers through financial burdens. Several readers who shared the experience of struggling to make ends meet cried reading it.

I'm self-reccing my favourite druglord!Jungkook x OC series Break My Mind's Eye.I'm not a big cryer when it comes to stories but I'd be lying if I didn't get close in the end. It's a very toxic relationship between them, Jungkook tricks her into marriage to pay off her brother's (Tae) debt. Tae struggling with addiction, OC dealing with manipulation, hurt, a miscarriage, then in the end both of them reach a state of healing really sent me to the edge n to this day it's my most favourite works

Would also like to recommend Bloom by hobidreams! Rain does such a tremendous job building suspense and relationships in this fic. The portion I got misty-eyed over isn't even between the two main characters and yet!! This is Rain's talent! Honestly, this story is so captivating and gripping. Can't recommend highly enough!

fic: forever rain | author: ddaengtan | I STILL REGULARLY CRY OVER THIS like i won't even have to be reading it i could just be thinking about it and i'll tear up all over again it's really hard to make me cry while reading a fic but... bette's writing just so easily pulled all of these emotions out of me and i was left a complete mess by the time i was finished. literally a masterpiece and nothing less

hello! i'm gonna rec inexpensive taste by iq-biased for tearjerker. this is such a beautiful piece, so wonderfully written, so thoughtful and sensitive. the plot is amazing and you can feel their struggle but you can also feel how much yoongi and the oc love and care for each other, you can't help but get emotional. now, this story has two parts, and while i absolutely love part one, part two is my favorite bc is so so so sweet?! so everyone should definitely read both parts 🤧

no idea if it’s been sent in yet but “a devil’s plaything” by jamaisjoons for tear jerker week is a GOOOOOOD ONE. everytime I read it i end up in tears because she has such a way with words and her plots. raw talent used for good!!

For tearjerker week, I would like to recc @vanaera's Sober. This fic is about fwbs oc and Jimin, however, it did not end how fwb fics go. The way the author played with the metaphors and their dialogues made my heart constrict. Seriously, the last paragraphs were the greatest blow to my heart. Also, the characters are so fleshed out and there's also a perfect balance of smut and angst. I know this fic is short but goddamn the feelings it brought to me were gigantic tidal waves.

Hello! I'd like to self-rec my fic, 'Sleeping Beauty' for Tearjerker Week. I usually cry when I write sad fics and I bawled my eyes out while writing this one. It's a personal favourite of mine, and I'm very happy with the emotion and the style I've written it in.

hiii for tearjerker id like to recommend “manspreading” and “stealing the bite” by wildernessuntothemselves. the first time i read both series i was a sobbing mess and i had to set my phone down and take a break from reading docs hahaha but i still go back to them from time to time and i still bawl like a baby lmao. the writer has such a way with characterization that it puts the reader into oc’s shoes and i just love the immersion!!

lovesick by minstrivia breaks my heart into a million pieces and im constantly on the verge of crying when i read it!! it’s not complete and won’t continue til may (if I’ve been updated accordingly) but the two chapters it has already are so good. they’re an amazing author too. this is for tear jerker week!!

I would like to rec grief by readyplayerhobi for tearjerker week. This fic ruined me, is such a bittersweet ending to those characters love story and the writing is so touching and emotional, you can really feel how much Hoseok loves his mate. It's an incredibly sad and beautiful reading, I don't cry much but it's impossible not to get emotional about this story. Actually I started crying as soon as it started 😹😭
