I made a special trip to go find bone carvers in Bali. There were so many in Tampaksiring (near Ubud) I couldn’t even go in all the stores. Some invited me back to watch carving and interview, and I got some good interview, but I’m wondering if I have time to go back and learn a bit.
This store is Wayan Special Carving, at BaliCarving10.blogspot.com.

Also since it's hollow you can stick led lights in there for this sort of effect (pardon the mushy quality):

The horns on this cape buffalo skull have been colonized by the horn moth (Ceratophaga vastella), a relative of the clothes moth. The caterpillars are able to digest the keratin in old horns, and the protuberances you see are cases or towers the caterpillars build using their own feces, as protection from predators.
Masai Mara, Kenya, July 2023.

Thought I’d seen the last of the giants for a while…then this guy rolled in.
This beast is a bull Bison, and he’s twice as large as the cow bison I did a while back.
And, yes, that is the same buck I used for a size comparison last time, just so you can see just HOW much bigger this monster is.

I've been watching videos and following reporters in gaza documenting all the destruction and aggression and it's horrible, but for some reason i found the videos of israelis moking prisoners with children's songs even more unnerving. It's objectively not as bad, but something about seeing people delight in the cruelty, and how kids are taught to dehumanize others so young, it gets under my skin and disturbs me
Yeah like I've seen some horrible shit (all those videos and photographs of dead bodies, which I personally do not like to share but I GET why people do) but something about seeing people being so balls off the wall cartoonishly evil and then posting about it online for the clout gave me such a visceral reaction like nothing else
