Swipe for before and after...I had artist friends, @builtbyjay1 , @redredwine67 hang these early 20th Century 14 Stations of the Cross Plaques from the South of France...the Stations of the Cross originated in pilgrimages to Jerusalem and a desire to reproduce Via Dolorosa...(the Via Dolorosa, Way of Grief or Sorrow is a Street within the Old City of Jerusalem, believed to be the path that Jesus walked on the way to His crucifixion)... according to tradition, the Fourteen sites along the Via Dolorosa are where the events of the Stations of the Cross happened. I first saw terra cotta roses, several years ago, while in NYC, having dinner at Gramercy Tavern...I obsessed about them my entire trip...I even asked the manager who/where (.. for those of you who have eaten there you know there floral installations are spectacular)...finally found out the florist had gotten them in France ...I had photographed them, came home and asked @builtbyjay1 to create them for me..Contact him thru IG if you need some as well..i have used them mixed with fresh roses and that is lovely as well. #deborahgibsondesign #builtbyjay #terracotta #roses # (at Greenville,South Catolina)

I am glad so many of you have enjoyed these carved cameos..One more ...back in the Fall I mixed them with antler she'd, terra cotta roses made by @builtbyjay1 and tulips...the terra cotta color in the roses looked so pretty with the carved cameos...I'll repeat that look or something similar in the future...the cameos have such depth in color..creams, browns, rust, dark reds, pale peach..just some of my favorite color combinations... #deborahgibsondesign #carvedcameos #cameos #tulips #antlersheds #terracotta #terracottaroses (at Greenville S.C.)
