Wednesday Wait Loss 168
Welcome to Wednesday Wait Loss, where you can share photos of quilts you’re working on and get encouragement to finish them from our Wednesday Wait Loss group!
First let me tell you what I've been up to
Busy week! I hope you caught all the activity. If not, I’ll link you to it!
On Wednesday I hosted the second part of my Quilting with Batiks class, live on Facebook. In case you missed it, here it is.
Thursday was my day for the Designers Quilt Show! I hope you had time to stop by and learn more about me. I know we meet every week here but there are things you might not know about me—like I’m having a pattern sale! Hurry…it concludes Saturday at midnight.
For the discount code, you’ll have to read my post…
On Saturday, I hosted my fifth Saturday Sew-in. This is becoming a regular thing! hope you can join us in my Facebook group this Saturday for Saturday Sew-in #6 - from 8 AM to 6 PM EST.
Saturday night we concluded the week long Designers Quilt Show with a Pajama Party held live over Facebook. I hope you entered to win one of our fabulous prizes!
Read all about the event here.
On Sunday I tidied up my studio, made some more masks, and finalized the design for my April Island Batik Ambassador challenge. On Monday and Tuesday I cut out the fabrics and started assembling the quilt. This month’s challenge is Creative Borders and Bindings.
That was my week! Whew!
Did I mention that I’m working at the quilt shop too—helping to cut mask kits and fill online orders? Yeah, I’m busy!
Now let’s see who made this week’s feature
This week was certainly about making do and surviving the isolation of social distancing.
Most of you are making do by sewing up scrappy projects using what’s already at hand. For example, Susie is using her stash to create something new. Isn’t it lovely?
Over and over again, I was reminded of the beauty of scrap quilts. Yvonne @ Sew Yummy finished two scrappy tops last week—Scrappy Trips and Star Struck.
Karen @ Quilts Etc. shared her RSC18 Stars which she is currently quilting. It’s charmingly scrappy. She also finished sewing together an old WIP, Charming Country Christmas—be sure to drop by her blog to see it!
Turid @ Den Syende Himmel is making scrappy blocks that are so gorgeous together! Who needs a trip to the quilt store when they have fabrics like these at home?
Chris @ Chris Knits Sews is using what she has on hand to create her Corona Round Robin. So wonderful!
Gail @ Quilting Gail is hosting the Stay at Home Round Robin. Clever idea—beautiful quilts you can make with your stash.
Marsha @ Marsha’s Spot is using up her scraps making improv blocks. What a wonderful quilt—I love how modern and architectural it looks.
Rebecca @ Cheeky Cognoscenti has her gorgeously scrappy Spirit Song loaded on her longarm, ready to be quilted.
Denise @ For the Love of Geese is using her stash to make an Inventory quilt just like I am (except she’s much more organized and way further ahead than me!)
Nancy @ Grace and Peace Quilting is busy quilting various versions of Meadowland, including this lovely scrappy version.
Some of us are using our scraps to make masks, like Donnalee @ Donna Lee Q.
While Deana @ Daughters of Dorinda is her scraps to sew up this lovely scrap quilt.
I noticed last week that some of you are finding other ways to cope.
Leanna @ Not Afraid of Color is making small projects like this lovely mini table topper, and using humor to de-stress.
Celine @ Esprit Patch is making mini blocks. I love her color choices! So springlike and hopeful.
I have a good friend who uses miniatures to refocus and de-stress. She says they are relaxing and a great break from regular piecing. All I know is that these are beautiful!
Chris @ Quilting at the Farm finds handwork relaxing and peaceful. After finishing her gorgeous Beyond the Cherry Trees flimsy, she asked “What am I going to do for an encore?”
To me, this is both a labor of love and a work of art. I don’t know what you’ll do for an encore Chris, but I do know whatever it is it’ll be wonderful and well worth doing!
Gretchen isn’t stitching at the moment, but she did share a tiny bit of how little her life has changed on the farm. Reading her post reminded me that life goes on and will soon return to more familiar sights and sounds. And I can really relate to her cows!
Congratulations quilters!
