longtime friends and mutuals know how 8x22 dreams is my fave MASH episode and how incredible i think it is as is but each time i rewatch it i find myself going “you were so close to bringing it back to a deeper analysis of all of these characters complicity in the imperialist war machine and you juuuuuust scratch the surface for viewers to dive into this in later interpretation”

#also; the model of description–analysis–interpretation is a useful framework for media analysis that i would recommend for folks lol #the number of times i refer to DAI when i’m teaching my undergrads intro to play analysis #anyways; all of the seeds for the characters to have a big wake up call in this episode are totally there for interpretation and would have #been so interesting to unpack over more than 25 minutes #but as a piece of horror media experimental television and a MASH episode i think it’s incredible #mash #tv: mash
