listen i just want to say that gabriel's "no one's ever given me anything before" fucking pushed me down, kicked me in the face and stole my lunch money.
#go2 spoilers#go2#gabriel has more power than any other angel#and he's used that power to keep aziraphale in place#but being with beelzebub he realizes#he's still as trapped as aziraphale is by staying with heaven#doing the work of the almighty to the letter#even when they undo all the work you had done for them#may be a prestigious position#may give you greater power than anyone#but it will be thankless work#god rewards mankind for their loyalty#but not their angels#and that's what he's realizing#he's understanding how aziraphale could find one demon more important than any ineffable plan#how he could love a demon more than his own divinity#and so when he told crowley he was sorry#it might not be anywhere near the apology crowley or aziraphale deserve#but gabriel without his memories is boiled down to his most basic form#so even without his memories#i think gabriel really WAS sorry#in his own strange extremely roundabout and arrogant way
