It’s interesting because Wickham is such a trashfire of a human being and the context is so awful, but there is still something deeply apropos about Darcy being at his wedding.
#the wedding that ultimately will make them brothers by law as well as upbringing#wickham's initial melodramatic tale has the whole thing about he's pained by a thousand tender recollections when he sees darcy#which is obviously bullshit#like. he doesn't give a fuck about their childhood friendship or what his godfather would think or anything like that#but i could easily believe that it makes everything 10x worse for darcy and georgiana#i think being at the wedding must feel /so/ fucked-up#and yet it makes a certain awful sense that of course things would happen that way#anghraine babbles#austen blogging#george wickham#fitzwilliam darcy#lady anne blogging
