catching up on hotd atm and i'm team black all the way but alicent's situation is so goddamn understandable and i feel so bad for her, holy shit
#i want to strangle otto with my bare hands#she speaks#arctic watches house of the dragon#my read on why alicent became so angry with rhaenyra since rhaenyra's escapades#was that it enraged her that while she had submitted to being pushed to marry viserys by her father#and submitted to being married to viserys#and tried tried tried even though it hurt her so much to be the 'right' kind of woman#rhaenyra refuses to do that (and keeps getting away with it)#and i'm on ep 7 right now and *i feel so vindicated that was EXACTLY it!*#it's so interesting how she turns it on rhaenyra as well#instead of her father or her husband#the y'know people she should be angry with for putting her in this situation#but it's too hard to question societal norms even when they're hurting her so much#so instead she turns her rage on her once good friend because she has socially acceptable reasons to hate her#when what she really is is envious#(and getting manipulated by her abusive father)
