I really think that the draw to Solas for me was in his loneliness and the eccentricity solitude fosters. He says himself that he has basically no friends who are not spirits. In Veilguard this is only reinforced when he says it took him centuries to build a rapport with members of the rebellion. Sometimes it just hits me how lonely he was.
I also think it's interesting that, if the Inquisitor romances Blackwall, Solas tells him that he's glad he's found some happiness despite everything. And when Blackwall asks him if he has found someone, Solas says 'no, I find my peace elsewhere'... he's really not all that romantically inclined. One of the reasons I hate most solavellan fic is that people tend to write him as this super experienced fuckboy when the text tells us over and over again that he doesn't form bonds with living people very easily. I get that some people find the idea of being with someone who has thousands of years of experience sexy, but the text tells us repeatedly that he isn't especially invested in relationships with non-spirits, who are non-sexual, so he probably isn't as experienced as people think. I won't get into it too much bc I've already spoken about it, but he never properly learned to bond as a person and not as a spirit. So prior to DAI, he simply doesn't, and we can infer--especially given that he's described as never having been in love before--that he hasn't pursued romance a great deal in his life.
This is probably fed by my own bullshit (it's definitely fed by my own bullshit), but I think I had a hard time figuring out how to romance him bc they would only allow you to romance him with a female elf due to time constraints. This is despite him saying repeatedly that he loves Lavellan's spirit. When you're trans or nonbinary, it's hard to explain how exciting that is; to have characters who say explicitly that they do not define others by their bodies. It's very cool on its own, but for nb players in particular it's especially important. If you struggle with how you're perceived physically, it's nice to be able to make a character who is loved for who they actually are and not for what they look like. To have someone who sees them for who they are and not for what others want them to be. It's something people like me crave and I think this is why I'm so pro-queer Solas, pro-Solas doesn't give a shit about how on fleek your Lavellan's eyebrows are, etc. The physical doesn't factor in to why he loves. He simply loves others for their character, and although he often lets his first impressions colour his views of entire people, he is still willing to listen and learn if you give him a chance to be Wisdom and not Pride. We literally see him begin to question his own convictions re: the Dalish during the balcony scene. Contrary to popular fandom belief, he actually admits to being wrong all the time.
Idk man I just really like having a Lavellan that is an outsider all their life and isn't understood even by their own Clan, only to find her kindred spirit in Fen'harel, the adversary of her people. I'm obsessed with the fact that Solas fell in love for the first time with a mortal, who exists because of his mistake, who he loves enough to throw away his plans and only doesn't follow through because of his guilt. I need to write more fic jsdkdfhkjsg

comically long commentary on the ending of worm
(heavy spoilers for hit webserial worm by wildbow)
Taylor should have died during GM. Not in a "she deserves death" or a "it doesn't make sense for her not to die". Thematically speaking, I think it Taylor dying fits the story the most. You'll sadly have to bear with my ramblings while I explain this.
Ever since Cauldron got revealed and their objective of preventing the apocalypse, morality be damned, was established, I started drawing parallels between them and Taylor. They always seemed to represent Taylor's philosophy taken to its logical conclusion, doing something that could be earnestly considered the ultimate good (i.e preventing reality from being erased) by swatting aside any moral constraints. With correspondence established, I can move on to GM where this gets even further pronounced - where Doctor Mother dies with no fanfare. When I was reading this part of Venom, my first thoughts were "That's it?" followed by my brain trying to scrounge up some deeper meaning behind her death. As the events of Speck unfolded i more or less convinced myself that it HAD to be foreshadowing for Taylor's own death. This is because during GM, Taylor fully embraces the "morality is for chumps who won't prevent the end of reality" mindset that Cauldron has displayed previously. She then takes and uses Clairvoyant and Doormaker, something that Doctor Mother had been previously doing herself, and takes control of every single parahuman - an army that Cauldron itself has groomed into being. At this point, Taylor has the same philosophy as Doctor Mother, the same goals and is using the tools Cauldron came up with. She is, quite frankly, Doctor Mother in all but name. This is why I fully expected Taylor to die by the end of GM and considered Doctor Mother's unceremonious demise to be setting this up. But then she doesn't. She lives, and gets transported with her dad to a dimension where none of this parahumans nonsense happens, where a version of her mom is still alive and where she can finally learn how to be okay.
So, then, what exactly is the difference between Taylor and Doctor Mother? Why does one get as happy as an ending as you're going to get in Worm, while the other gets mauled to death? The thing is, I don't have a concrete answer. I don't have an answer at all, actually. After GM ends, we see that Taylor has left thousand's traumatized and unwilling to mention her existence (from what I got from the epilogues, haven't read Ward), affecting people on a similar scale to the effects of Doctor Mother's actions, yet one gets to live, whereas the other one dies.
You could also interpret the epilogue of Worm as the book itself more or less saying that Taylor is a good person who deserves to be happy after all she's gone through, especially considering we go from a hellish battlefield where Taylor has lost everything to a sealed reality bordering on the idyllic with little to no explanations as to how that was done. This isn't a logical result of Taylor's actions and it comes off as rather shoehorned, as well as directly showcasing how the book interprets Taylor's character - despite everything, she's a good person. This logic can't be applied to letting Taylor die, as by the time Speck begins we understand the route Taylor has chosen will most likely lead to her death.
Due to all of this, I think Taylor should've paid the price and gotten only one bullet in the brain. I also like Wildbow's original intention of making the ending ambiguous, letting the reader weight the morality of Taylor's actions and deciding for themselves what they think the bug girl ultimately deserves, though this plan seemingly got scrapped.
alright that's it

INTEREST-CHECK!!! (Open until December 10th)
As I'm sure most of us have heard, @dcmksecretsanta won't be hosting a secret-santa event this year, and after chatting with a friend, we've come up with a way to still have a secret-santa(ish) event this winter.
Due to this sudden notice and the time constraints, we've decided to make the gifts a bit more simple (sketches instead of completed drawings, short drabbles instead of completed oneshots, a lesser amount of gif/icons, etc)*
Of course, if you have the time, ability, and will to create a complete work, then by all means do! The simplification of the gifts are just to set a minimum and are by no means meant to limit your creativity!
Please fill in this form if you are interested in this event, it will be open until December 10th.
I would also be grateful if you could share/reblog to spread the word!
This is the first time I've attempted moderating an event, so feel free to send any suggestions or asks to this blog!
*The minimum amount of work for each type of gift is not set yet. I will do so after seeing how much interest this event has.

Coming from someone who has played SH2 a grand total of once I have never found myself ever having issues with the load times.
The only issues I did have were with how empty and overly spacious the town's streets are (which is probably the point given the setting but that only goes so far to make up for how uninteresting it is to explore imo) and how overly generous it was with resources which led to enemies being little more than nuisances
Coming from someone who is not a fan of the series I think these are the only aspects that would need improving and it could be done with a remaster of sorts that maybe added an option to have less resources laying around or something. A full blown remake should be reserved for those games that are truly rotten at the foundation and as such require complete workarounds
Of the original four, SH2 is the least in need of a remake because it already has so many different ports and rereleases. So you know Konami is only trying to cash in on nostalgia. PT whomst? What's really burning my ass is the fact that even people who call themselves hardcore SH fans are falling for the technical limitations cruft, in this quasi-condescending "uwu poor lambs did their best with what they could" kind of way. As if the artistic direction counts for nothing because the tech they used wasn't as advanced as it is today. This kind of thing is why I think game preservation and history are incredibly important. We keep losing the history in which games are made, lack the context necessary to understand them, and then make up erroneous narratives as a result. Such attitudes wouldn't be so prevalent toward the original if we remembered the quantum leap between the PS2 and the PS1, what an amazing artistic vision the "limiting" tech of the time helped Team Silent to realize. People often cite SH1's limited draw distance as if it's a flaw Team Silent worked around, but forget that it wasn't a problem on the PS2 - so why do later games in the series still feature heavy fog? At some point you have to stop thinking about it in terms of technical limitations and give the creators credit where credit is due. In fact, the reason the fog looks like ass on even later consoles is because the PS2 is capable of layers of transparency that others are not. Team Silent knew this, and they baked these quirks into their design. Folks are so ready to trot out "old graphics are old" as an excuse, like shut your entire ahistorical ass up and respect your elders. You think Sato lived in the office for three years in order to work on SH1's FMVs just so you could sneer at him?
Team Silent had done everything they set out to do, no more or less. And that's before Sato came out and said technical limitations weren't an issue in SH2's development.
(And it's actually really funny because SH2 released to lukewarm reception at first, with some folks upset that its tone diverged from the more overt horror of its predecessor. It didn't become a ~masterpiece~ overnight.) SH2 was the game they spent the most time and resources on. IIRC, SH1's team was much smaller, and development was split between SH3 and SH4, with only a year's worth of crunch allotted to produce SH3. SH3 has a stronger case that they had to cut corners, but even that boiled down to time constraints. I won't pretend SH2 is some masterpiece in terms of gameplay, obviously. Mechanically, it tends to be fairly uninteresting. At the same time, however, I don't think the jank necessarily works against the game. To me it would be more brow-raising if it were a more "sound" game combat-wise. SH3 has a heavier focus on combat by giving you a variety of weapons, and it tends to make the gameplay a little goofy. Plus, Homecoming already proved that better combat doesn't necessarily equal better game. SH2 is also that rare game where even its flaws work mostly in its favor. Its idiosyncrasies are what define it. We can debate the degree to which the jankiness was deliberate forever, but for better or worse, when you sand off the rough edges, you lose some of that special quality that makes the game unique.
David Lynch-esque dialogue, or "odd" Japanese direction misaligning with English voice acting? Who cares? Does it succeed in unsettling you? Then it's done its job. Another thing I learned from Sato's interviews is that Team Silent was mostly composed of artists instead of gamers. That likely made a critical difference in how the game feels. It's not supposed to be a gamey kind of game. You play it for the atmosphere, the characters, the story.
Oh but I guess James has real boy Emoshuns now so none of that matter. Never mind the fact that the remake will probably make your laptop fucking explode.
Silent Hill 2 Will Push Your PC to Its Limits - IGN
You sure it's the original suffering from "technical limitations"? Lol. Lmao.

Tips to Transforming Spaces through the Expertise of House Painters
The spaces in your home are probably not the most exciting part of your day. However, they can impact your overall mood and help you get things done. That's why it's important to make sure that your living room is inviting, your kitchen is well-lit and functional, and every room looks aesthetically pleasing. One way to achieve this goal is by hiring a professional house painter to transform these areas into something that everyone can enjoy. How do you know if painting is right for you? Keep reading!
Color and Design
Choosing the right color for a room is a crucial step in transforming your space. It can make or break your design, so it's important to choose wisely! Here are some tips:
When choosing paint colors, consider what mood you want the room to convey. For example, if you're looking for something calming and serene, try using shades of blue or green--they have been shown to have positive effects on moods. Alternatively, reds and oranges are known for being energizing; these vibrant hues can be used when creating an inspiring space where creativity flourishes (like an art studio). If you're looking for something more neutral that goes well with most decor trends but still has personality (and doesn't clash!), try going with black or white as they tend not only look good together but also work well with other colors too!
If there's already furniture in place when starting out this process then consider whether its hue works well with what might be added later down the line so everything matches nicely together once finished painting everything else out first before adding anything else back into mix over time as needed based on budget constraints etcetera...
Convenience
When it comes to painting, there are a few things that you really need. The most important tip is to make sure that you have all of the right tools for the job. For example, if you're painting with a brush or roller, then it would be best to purchase one specifically designed for this purpose. Using an ordinary household item like a paintbrush and trying to use it on walls will result in poor results and frustration because they won't work as well as they should!
Another important thing is knowing what kind of paint should be used on different surfaces--this will depend largely upon whether those surfaces are porous (like wood) or nonporous (like metal). If possible try using water-based latex paints which tend not only last longer than oil-based but also require less maintenance overall since they don't require primer before application either!
Functionality and Efficiency
When you're considering how to use your space, it's important to consider the functionality of each room. If you have a large living room but no one ever uses it, then maybe it's time for a change. You can make small changes that will open up your home and encourage guests to spend more time there. Here are some ideas:
Use bright colors like red or orange in an otherwise dark room--they'll make it look larger by drawing attention away from walls and windows (and making them seem farther away).
Use lighter colored furniture if possible; darker wood tones can make spaces feel smaller than they actually are because they absorb light so well.
Maximize storage opportunities by using shelves on walls rather than floor-to-ceiling cabinets that block views into other rooms or take up valuable space near windows where natural light would otherwise come through freely without obstruction by unnecessary furniture items such as bookcases full of books or armoires full of clothes that aren't being worn regularly enough anymore due largely in part because they've been shoved back into closets after being taken out every morning when people wake up early enough before leaving home each day only long enough enough just long enough so they don't miss their bus stop so much anymore...
Space Planning and Placement
Space planning and placement are essential to the success of a room. The way you use your space can be the difference between a room that is functional and one that makes you want to stay in it all day.
Here are some tips for getting the most out of your space:
When considering how you want to use your room, think about what kind of activities will happen there and how people will move through it. Will this be a bedroom? A family room? An office? Do you want it to feel cozy or open-concept? Your answers will help determine where furniture should go so everything works together well--both visually and functionally!

Private & Selective Owing to time constraints and the demanding nature of roleplay, I'm highly selective about whom I write with, as I firmly believe in valuing quality over quantity.
This is not a self-insert/projection friendly zone The title says it all! Projection and self-inserts make me very uncomfortable, so I will terminate interactions immediately if I catch whiff of that.
Dashboard Stuff I often overlook the dashboard since I rarely check it. When I do, I might choose to engage with a few people, but it's pretty infrequent!
Adults Only (21+) Given the mature and dark themes my writing frequently explores, as well as Astarion's past, this roleplay blog is not suitable for minors. I personally prefer that only those 21 or older engage. Every potentially triggering content and/or interaction will be put under tw; dddne and "ask to tag" for blacklisting purposes.
Astarion & Headcanons My portrayal of Astarion will stay unfiltered. For more details, click here. Also, please don’t assume Astarion will choose your muse— there are other people in camp (NPCs) he could be feeding from, or other plot devices we could use instead.
Duplicate Friendly Space While I love connecting with fellow Astarion enthusiasts and sometimes follow duplicates, I avoid reading their headcanons to keep my portrayal unbiased. Any shared ideas or plots are purely coincidental—great minds and all that!
Credits & Disclaimer This blog's avatar is by artbyvi, and the graphics were commissioned from ilithid-psds. Some icon screenshots aren’t mine, so if one is yours and you want credit or prefer I don't use it, just let me know, and I'll make the changes.
Unfollowing & Re-following I'm mutually exclusive: if I don't get a follow back in a few days, I'll unfollow. I also unfollow blogs inactive for over a month without notice. If you return and want to be mutuals again, just drop me a line, and I'll gladly follow back.
The Mun I'm Milky, 21+. I like cats, tea, a good book and playing video games with my friends. Even if we can't, for whatever reason, roleplay together, feel free to send Astarion IC asks or approach me OOC for a chat. :) Toodles!
Ship Exclusives I won't always extend exclusivity to ship partners, and by no means do I force anyone into that position. While not all my ship partners fall under the exclusive category, for those with whom I do ship exclusively, it’s been mutually agreed-upon beforehand. For transparency's sake, here is the list!

Send me your Dragon Age one-shots/snippets! And I'll draw them as a comic!
I wanna draw more comics! And I would be, if not for my shitty writing skills which takes one billion years to complete, so getting to the comic drawing stage is near zero. So, please, do share some one-shots/snippets!
Some caveats: - I can't confirm that I'll draw every single request, because that's just not realistic. I most probably also won't confirm whose story will get chosen until I post up the final comic, mainly because I might not be able to get to it due to time constraints. - It's best if your tumblr already have references of your DA OC, so that I don't mis-draw anyone. And this will give me wiggle room to do the comic in my own time, without pestering you for refs - If your one-shot is on the long side, I'll most probably pick a small section to draw
I was thinking that maybe if I do draw enough, I can just compile it into a free zine, and release it as a pdf booklet. But this is still a looong ways away, and not confirmed until the authors approve.
Edit: Mass Effect is good too!

How 3D Visualization Helps Business Design Complex Products
Product marketing experience has been booming for the last few years, and people can't imagine shopping without it. There was a time when shoppers got a glance only after completing the product. But now, thanks to 3D product visualization software, it made it possible for businesses to collect client reviews during production and alter the product based on their changing requirements.
The development of 3D product visualization software is comparable in the field of eCommerce. Customers can see several versions of highly adjustable products, so they know what they purchase before clicking the "buy" button. And even if certain aspects of this technology still feel like they belong in the space era, it won't be long until 3D product configurator becomes standard practice across several important businesses.
Benefits of 3D product configurator
The 3D Product Configurator transformed e-commerce. The options are unlimited, whether you want to create a piece of furniture, a brand-new automobile, or a unique pair of sneakers. A new level of consumer satisfaction and brand loyalty can result from letting customers see the whole production process unfold in front of their eyes. Implementing a 3D product configurator setup has several advantages for both the company and the user.
1.Higher quality products
The greatest degree of manufacturing standards and quality are virtually always followed when creating 3D custom customized items. The client can produce a product that complements their original expectations and specifications thanks to their extensive participation throughout the initial design phase. They are more likely to be pleased with the outcome and suggest the business' services to others if they are. Over time, this can result in improved consumer interactions and brand loyalty. Additionally, it can increase sales and a greater return on investment. Manufacturers can also display their products in 3D visualization before release to stimulate interest and learn more about their client base's general demands and preferences.
2. Entertaining and interactive
Consumers are drawn to innovation and collaboration and respond to it. Today, static photos and text on social media and e-commerce sites are seen as the "old way," so the chance to try something new might draw in curious customers. As a result, consumers can spend more time browsing the website and are more likely to purchase. Customers can spend hours creating the ideal product since so many options are available. For decades, companies have competed to develop the most inventive method of 3D visualization layout to market their goods.
Nike and Tesla are two examples of the many companies opting to use the persuasive power of a 3d product configurator to differentiate themselves from the competition and increase consumer brand loyalty.
3.Increased customer loyalty
Customers are more inclined to utilize your services repeatedly if they can customize a product to fit their tastes and budget. Client loyalty can result from customer satisfaction. Customers are more inclined to refer your company to friends if they are pleased with their service. This procedure can start a domino effect that boosts website traffic and increases profit margins. Excellent customer service can also significantly impact the relationship between the brand and the client. They are unlikely to shop elsewhere if you give them your full attention. The way you purchase and sell things online can change due to the 3D configurator.
Summing Up
Using a 3D product configurator by KBMax, enables consumers and producers to understand what they actually want. New and enhanced product releases can result from this. The ability to completely personalize a product from conception to completion can give businesses the knowledge they need to make these modifications and assess their performance. Customers can properly create a product that matches their unique demands, requirements, and financial constraints. It's time to incorporate 3D product visualization software to modernize your company. Your brand must be interactive and engaging to stand out from the competition and change with the times. Customers can tap into their imagination and make decisions quickly by taking advantage of a 3D buying experience from the convenience of their own homes.
