Because Carmen would obviously want a baby with Johnny, a man shes known for, what, a year? Been dating for even less. An alcoholic with a long history of violent behavior, who completely failed at being a parent to his own son and who has similarly routinely hurt Carmen’s son. And that’s not to say Johnny can’t change, can’t grow as a person and as a father. But you’re telling me Carmen Diaz—the woman who fled Ecuador after learning she was pregnant to protect her son from the man she was married to—who has always done everything in her power to protect Miguel. You’re telling me she wouldn’t even consider an abortion? That with everything going on with Miguel right now, she would actually want a baby? With Johnny?
Because the simple answer is of course not! Of course the character of Carmen that they created would never want that baby. Not right now and maybe not ever. But it doesn’t matter what she wants, right? Her character doesn’t get to have organically motivated desires because throughout five seasons we’ve been proven over snd over again she’s nothing but an object for Johnny to win, to be endlessly supportive despite everything, to give Johnny the “do-over” that they think is synonymous with “redemption.” So what if they turn her into a baby factory, a walking vagina with no autonomy or character of her own outside of Johnny Lawrence. Who cares right? That’s all women are anyway.
