it is really boring when modern aus make jyl a chef. she cooks for her family because she loves them but she doesn’t have a passion for it outside that. I honestly don’t mind her as a stay at home mom because that’s what’s important to her and that’s what makes her happy and that’s significant enough work on its own
in a modern au where she has more choices, maybe something in the social sciences or the arts? a school counselor, or a ballet dancer, I saw that once. but she also has very low self-esteem and is overlooked/undervalued by most people around her so I wonder if that would impact her choice...hm. and she’s not a competitive person with much confidence, so I feel like it would be hard for her in the arts world, or in dance/sports. oh, of course she’s also chronically ill and easily fatigued in canon so she wouldn’t be able to do anything physically demanding. I’m back to social worker or school counselor, I think she would do well in that field. we barely see her interact with people outside her family but she seems like someone who cares about people beyond just who’s related to her unlike. well.
jc is always going to be a businessman/tech guy. that’s his fate. he has neither the imagination nor the confidence for anything creative and he’s the one holding the family business afloat because it’s what his parents wanted for him
wwx is always going to be an engineer in my head (who teaches sometimes maybe), but he could probably do anything, including music and painting and probably writing too
lwj will NOT be a ceo or businessman but music seems very personal to him/a way of communicating privately in a way I don’t think he’d want to make a living off of. my favorite choices for him has been a museum curator or a tutor for ancient/traditional instruments like guqin. something highly specialized and somewhat niche and needing a lot of training. OR traveling and doing like...inspection of infrastructure....for a nonprofit. or something. maybe he’s a civil engineer
pop icon lwj is SO funny he would never. 1. not egocentric enough 2. doesn’t really like attention 3. cares way too much about real problems
but anyway. jyl. she would probably need a lot of therapy to recover from her childhood and be able to provides those services but I can def see that for her. anyway what does everyone think
#but she's also nonconfrontational unless her immediate family is concerned#hmm. she's such a mom#btw I don't see lwj as a teacher in a modern au it seems awkward. maybe I'd feel differently if they ever actually showed him teaching a cl#a class#cql txp
