sam sam what is this mdzs and tgcf u keep posting about :o
oh bOY okay so they’re chinese novels that have been lovingly translated and are completely free to read (technically mdzs also has a donghua/anime and a live action show, and both mdzs and tgcf have on-going manhua/manga adaptations BUT i recommend reading the books first bc all of the content is there and also the books are the only adaptations that are 100% gay)
uhhhh anyway so yeah i’m not sure how to explain them? i’m sure wikipedia has nice little summaries for them but the main selling points are:
canon gay main couples
large world building
magic!
fun side characters
big drama
lots of fun/humor
cool plot twists/good foreshadowing that makes you want to reread to find what you missed the first time
really compelling main characters that have Been Through It and just deserve a rest tbh
if you decide to read them, i recommend starting with tgcf. it’s the author’s most recent novel (yes they have the same author) so i think the writing for it is a little better. i also think the structure is easier to follow because there isn’t quite so much back and forth? like... tgcf’s main storyline is in the present™ of the story, but mdzs’ main storyline exists in the flashbacks, and so for me it was really difficult to get into mdzs because it wasn’t structured very fluently, imo
but anyway, links!

tgcf 1-24 & tgcf 24-244
