My hot take is that you actually can't separate the art from the artist, but it's also actually okay to engage with and even enjoy art made by people who did bad things.

#shitty people are still complex human beings and sometimes they do a really good job of tapping into universal human experiences #their personal lives should be a lens through which the meaning of their work is contextualized #but that doesn't automatically render it without positive meaning or value #and to be clear this is not about monetary support #that is a separate issue
