OOOOOOH QND THEYRE GONNA TACKLE ISSUES ABOUT FLOODING/ SINKING CITIES DUE TO IMPROPER / WORN DOWN INFRASTRUCTURE TOO???? IM NOT GONNA EXPECT TOO MUCH BUT STILL THAT TOPIC ALSO VERY MUCH FASCINATES ME BC THERE ARE SEVERAL.IRL PLACES THAT HAVE DEALT WITH AND ARE CURRENTLY DEALING WITH SIMILAR ISSUES for example in the netherlands they have always had issues with flooding but theyve created structures that could rise and fall alomgside the tide and how they have a rlly good damn system that's built so as it wouldnt fail otherwise it would cause disaster and thats SO fascinating and such a marvelous work of engineering and since fontaine's npcs and storylines have centered on engineering as well i wouldnt be surprised if they had a similar structure akin to that too but has been slowly starting to fail due to the lack of energy for reasons that is unknown for known for now but that has been heavily speculated for quite some time now and also this reminds me of towns who have gotten themselves buried in a flood due to dams failing either through the lack of maintenance or the sheer force of water brought about by some unforseen disaster such as landslides or such but im not too sure if smth like that would be relevant to any future side quests, there's also the very concerning and very real issue of how mexico city has actually been gradually sinking more and more due to how unstable the land is after being build on sand and clay over a former wetland during the colonization of the spaniards and how they reclaimed the wetlands/ filled it up with unstable soil that has gradually been eroding and sinking overtime but maybe that is better portrayed by the sinking of the fictional place of atlantis which was based on real life events from the minoan eruption which clouded the skies in ashes and darkened skies from greece that reached all the way to england, and in particular had completely destroyed the town of Santorini where the volcano was located if i remember correctly, so i wouldnt be surprised if the reason why they were able to progress so far with their engineering in fontaine is because they utilized volcanoes in som capacity just like how hephaestus hired cyclopes (which were poseidon's half-children with all sorts of nymphs and other creatures) to create weapons and all sorts of machinery and contraptions which is what fontaine is rlly big on and i just Know that those things are gonna tie together somehow and for some reason its also making me think of the cold war/ world wars in general but thats probably bc submarines were most utilized during that era and they will ABSOLUTELY try to implement submarines in some way like it would just makes sense. Okay this is very loosely based on this one fanart i saw like. literally years ago that i cannot find again AAA where Jeff was the glass cannon PSI powerhouse and Paula is the nerd with the genius IQ and the bottle rockets, so I’m gonna swap them and then Ness and Poo- (although jeff in ness’ role would be cool too, esp bc maybe that would mean porky and tony would swap, but he needs loving parents for that alfjs, and let’s face it, he can’t swap with poo, jeff would be horrible at Mu training)

Can you imagine beginning the game as Poo though? That’d be sick as fuck, dude. You travel to the sanctuary in Dalaam i don’t remember its name and then kinda go backwards, getting Jeff, then Paula, and end up with Ness in Summers after that magic cake stuff. Poo’s PSI signature move could resemble his mirror ability, maybe, like how PK Love and 4th D Slip kinda have their own quirks, so Poo can use Copy abilities like Kirby with his PSI or smth afjslsfj And maybe instead of Ness going through Mu training he kinda goes into his magicant on accident or something while Poo has to complete the training after getting all the melodies? And Ness is super psyched to be a chosen four member but he’s kind of upset he was late to the party - and is the one to mostly get Poo to loosen up before Ness is taken away to actually legit learn Starstorm (it’s like smash bros!)

I do have a Psychic Jeff AU that I have not fleshed out in the slightest, but I think some things of it would be the same if jeff had the same role Paula did - I don’t think he’d know he was psychic until the events of m2 and not really have much control over it, especially mind reading. Another commonality is that Dr. A would definitely run experiments on a baby psychic jeff and then not tell him that he has PSI, so yikes. He’d definitely think of himself as an outcast at Snow Wood and be very excited to have friends in the others. I think Jeff getting kidnapped multiple times would be interesting, too - and Paula and Poo would be the ones in Moonside!!! woah!! And maybe Poo and Jeff are stuck in the cave in Stonehenge instead of Threed and he has to teach Jeff how to telepathically communicate through dreams to get Paula to come rescue them (with the help of Monotoli or the Runaway Five perhaps? 👀)

Paula’s role as the genius is so interesting to me alfjslj can you imagine?? this girl in the cute lil bow giving Orange Kid AND Apple Kid a run for their money?? Fixing bazookas and submarines??? i’d buy the game twice!!  I think she’d still be the star of Twoson and, if you’re the kind of person who hcs that Paula hates that spotlight, I think she’d feel the same way. Maybe she’d feel better knowing she’s with three psychic boys, or feel even more like an outcast, depending on how you hc Paula to be like.

so honestly i think the quote that best sums this up is thor’s quote about stopping trying to be what’s expected and just being who he is. i’m aware that characters are written and ultimately the writer controls what happens BUT i think that perfectly sums up the difference between character arcs & in character actions.

everyone is complaining about thor and steves arcs and it’s like..... arc wise yes thor shouldve been king & steve shouldve acclimated to the future. but arcs are ALSO written and most of the time characters are forced into situations and it’s a completed character arc bc it rhymes/it’s poetic/it completes a cycle. BUT that is not the same thing as a character doing something in character. steve WANTED to go back and live with peggy. thor WANTED to explore the universe away from duty. maybe they didnt complete specific arcs that everyone expected but... they’re being who they are. in contrast to that you have tony who WANTED to stay with his family but chose to sacrifice himself & this completed his character arc beautifully. but those two kinds of ends for characters are not at odds with each other and one is not automatically bad writing bc the other one exists.

that being SAID here’s some more general thoughts

also on the revive thing. that was why i didnt like the third movie. if we say the first one is ‘good’ (certainly not a bad childrens film, obvs). the second movie does enough new that its not just a retread. odette turning into a swan by her own choice, despite the risks, and her saving derek, and her not dying (tho jean bob did, which i did not remember happening, but ok). and it showed a development in the relationship. and encouraged ol dere-boy to appreciate his wife and mother sometimes. thats good. happy for the guy.

then you cut to movie three and dereks just lying to his wife despite the fact she has VERY REASONABLE objections to keeping dark magic shit lying around, given that she straight up died because of it once. she’s in the right here. derek is noble, perhaps, but an absolute idiot. then odette gets captured again, fuck me, then she gets rescued, again, and then instantly gets fucking killed by a fireball. well i mean fuck i guess. then she comes back even though she defintiely straight up died. in movie 1 you can wiggle the timing of it, held her last breath outta the power of love or whatever, but swan!odette got struck by a fireball and woulda crashed into the ground below, fucking her Right up. she straight up dead. so what the fuck gives. how the fuck is she back? which bitch is magic here. did derek fucking call upon dark magic to revive his wife? i have questions. also its just boring.
