im reading mars, and i started skimming since once again our main guy started saying slurs, and it really is weird. its a shoujo, but doesnt feel like it should be... it feels really weird abt our high school cast.

#personal #these high schoolers that are messed up mentally do come off as villains #the best thing keeping rei sympathetic is that he's dating the main nice girl and she vouches for him #but thru that angle it feels very misogynistic. like that fantasy of women excusing their man's behavior or it changing #he goes back and forth between being cruel and... normal. and at first it seemed like a 'girl softens rouch boy's heart' but it definitely #seems like a psychological thing. but it starts showing more and more characters that are messed up but all in a ~evil~ kind of way #like its using these trauma or whatever as drama to paint villains in conflicts. and not just fucked up students
