Here's to the Future

I honestly wish I could sit here and say that I am as happy as I have ever been or that the last 12 months were awesome! But I'd obviously be telling you a lie. So let's wrap this past year up and remind you why you left it all in the past. It's 2013 for god's sake!

In the matter of 365 days, my life has completely changed and flipped upside down. I no longer go to school, this was a main struggle of this year. I always have known college wasn't for me, yet I tried for my parents. As soon as winter quarter started, I stopped paying as much attention to school and got side tracked by an attractive friend. Though this was bad for my academic part of my life, it was very much needed for my sanity. This person pulled you out of a grey time in your life and showed you how to smile again. Even though this only lasted 2 short months, it was a good thing and allowed you to open up again. The ending was confusing, words were left unsaid and I suppose that was for the better. In the midst of all that meaningless drama, and when I truly needed him there, my Nana passed away. It was a very emotional time to say the least and I kept it all in. I truly didn't know how to cope with any of it. (Communicating has become extremely hard for me this year. I don't know whether that is because I have my guard up or because I geuinely don't know how to express myself to others.) After everything occured I lost all drive for school and my parents were forcing me to get a job. I instantly dropped school and became a working bee, causing distance between myself and everyone else. I no longer went out with my old friends because it was awkward and people changed. I grew to accept it all and by the time summer came around, I was content with my small group of friends and working. Over August, September, and October things got pretty bad between my Dad and I. This is also the time living at home really started to take a toll on me. After all my family finally found out I was no longer going to school, I started working full time at the bagel shop and started a savings account. Max and I officially decided to get an apartment together and take the next step to our future. This is where we stand now, 59 days away from the move in date.

Overall 2012 was a year full of a series unfortunate events, all of which have taken their personal tolls on me. The perfect word to sum up this year would have to be the one tattooed on my right ribs, "Persevere." After all that I have faced this past year, I'm still here fighting for more in life. I want this coming year to be full of pure progress and self improvement. I am no longer holding on to meaningless drama and hopeless dreams. I have realistic dreams that I am working hard towards. Figuring out that I want to be a make-up artist and attend school in California was the best thing I have decided in 2012. I believe everything I went through has led me to my decision to become distanced, yet focused on my future. People's perception of me has changed and I am content with that. I'm living my life for me, not in fear of anybody's judgement anymore. I'm on my journey to create the life I have always wanted and I will not stop until I get there. I'm excited that I have finally found the strength and freedom in myself to follow out these dreams. So you can either accept it or disagree and resent me for it.

So, cheers to 2013! Let's make this an amazing, hard working year towards the future :)
