Gotta be honest, Something to Believe In makes me so irrationally angry. Their whole relationship feels forced and only there for the romance grab :)

I feel like they could've done a lot with Kath's character without making her fall for Jack

Like it makes sense that Jack would feel things for her. She represents this freedom he's never gotten to have. She helped get the newsies a better hand in life. Granted it isn't perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better. Not to mention all the newsies have the emotional range of a speck of dust.

Kath, on the other hand, seems very in tune with her emotions. She knows how she feels about Jack during Watch What Happens, and I personally don't think much changed between them between that and StBI.

I think it would've been far better to have Jack, this emotionally ignorant artist pining after Kath, the 'sure of herself' journalist helping make a better life for his family, despite the repercussions of going against her father, who was originally in it just to further her career but has grown to care for and love all of these kids.

Have I mentioned the projections?

I also haven't mentioned this at all, but I love the newsies that push in Jack's 'penthouse' and just sit at the bottom of the set pieces.

“9 Months and $300 Fine, Lesson For Lauding Hitler,” Toronto Star. July 10, 1940. Page 07. ---- London Railroader Jailed - Secretary of Seaman’s Union Held in Montreal ---- ‘GUARD ON TONGUES’ ---- A sentence calculated in the words of Magistrate C. W. Hawkshaw to teach ‘people to be guard their tongues’ was passed in a London, Ont., police court today on John Navin, 44-year-old railway employee. He was convicted last week of having made statements in praise of Hitler.

Navin was given nine months in jail plus a $300 fine, which, if not paid, will add six months to the term.

A petition signed by 200 railway employees and immediate neighbors of Navin, and representations made in his behalf by J. H. Finch, a member of the railway union. induced the court, he said, to give less than the maximum penalties.

The magistrate stated that he had also taken into account that Navin had lived in London 14 years as a good citizen.

Navin’s sisters burst into tears as sentence was pronounced.

Jack Chapman Arrested Royal Canadian Mounted Police announced today in Montreal that Jack Chapman, secretary of the Canadian Seamens union, has been arrested under the Defence of Canada regulations as a member of the Communist party.

Chapman’s arrest, an official said, has ‘nothing to do with his association with the seamen’s union.’ He was taken into custody with several other alleged Communists.

‘Pat’ Sullivan, president of the union, was detained recently by R.C.M.P. under the Defence of Canada Act.

John Bold, 45-year-old farmer of the Marcelin district, 70 miles west of Prince Albert, Sask., will appear there Saturday for preliminary hearing on a charge of attempted treason. (Parliament has given first reading to imposing the death penalty on this charge.)

Andrew Bilecki and W. C. Ross, Communist members of the Winnipeg board of education, have been interned or have left the country, the board was told last night. Jehovah Witnesses Raided In Vancouver, police seized 12 tons of literature in raids on three branches of Jehovah’s Witnesses, an organization recently declared illegal. No arrests were made.

Charged with being members of an illegal society and of offending against the Defence of Canada Regulations W. G. Brown, Toronto, and William Bembridge, Niagara Falls, were remanded to jail at Goderich until Thursday. The two were arrested in a raid on a Blue Vale farm house. Half a ton of Jehovah’s Witnesses literature and maps was seized. Police at St. Thomas also raided headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses yesterday and seized dozens of cartons of books and pamphlets.

Some of the explanations were deeply disingenuous - despite claims to the contrary in this article, governments and their police forces genuinely believed rounding up communists would end the strikes and union militancy taking place in 1940 - which was driven by the increase in cost of living, demands for higher output with no pay increase, and the suppression of collective agreements and striking in the name of ‘winning the war.’ This crackdown was far more severe than even in Great Britain, under far more threat, and is a direct expression of the paranoia, panic and small-mindedness of Canadian police and political authorities. Damn you, Justin!

Much like Justin Trudeau is laughing at the clueless people who voted for him, I too am laughing. Trudeau is laughing because he knows that regardless of what he has done, he will not be held accountable. He will continue to divide Canada with his identity politics and bring us into ruin with his insane socialist policies.

As you can likely tell by my first paragraph, I am not a fan of Trudeau. So why am I laughing after he won the recent election? Unlike you clueless Liberals, I know what is in store for Canada and I will not end up enduring the same set of hardships as you. A combination of my lifestyle and particular set of skills will make me almost immune to the suffering headed in your direction.

Thanks to the carbon and additional taxes headed our way, fuel prices will skyrocket while Trudeau is in power.

Do I care? Nope! Each week, I walk further than I drive. I only fill up with 40 litres once every 2-3 months. Wait till your gas bill forces you to take a third mortgage on your home. Or when the rates for public transit increase even further. Even you Tesla drivers will feel the crunch as electricity continues to skyrocket along with the additional taxes placed on it. No one will escape these increases.

And with the increase in fuel prices, will bring the increase in the price of all goods due to transportation. Not a problem for me. I immigrated to Canada from Italy and my gardening skills are very advanced. I can live off of my own fruits and veggies for most of the year. You would be surprised how long butternut squash lasts after harvest. I can eat fresh or products which I jarred myself. What will you eat?

The fuel prices will also end up costing Canadians, yes even you Liberals, more for heating and cooling. Again not a problem for me. I am a Canadian Veteran and an avid outdoorsman. I have the gear to keep myself warm and I don’t mind setting my thermostat to 16 C. Wait till the ice starts forming on the inside of the windows, because you can no longer afford to heat your house this coming February.

And wait till the West splits off from the rest of Canada. The loss in taxes and revenue from them, especially from Alberta will cause our taxes to skyrocket even more. Even my fellow Torontonian who blindly voted Liberal will be shocked when house prices hit $5,000,000 for a one bedroom at Jane and Finch. Not an issue for me, I already have a home.

I am so looking forward to the Liberal plan to tackle climate change. Great things are in store for all of us. The reduction in the production of heavy machinery and the reduction of oil production will definitely make the people living in Third World Countries extremely happy.

When we reduce our means to produce crops to feed everyone, the effect on people like me will be minimal. I can afford to skip a couple of meals, since I have been meaning to go on a diet. And I have my garden.

I wonder if the people living in the Central African Republic or Yemen share my sentiments? The people living from meal to meal? Will they mind skipping the meal, which might be their last?

And when we starve these people or deny them the basic necessities of life, they will likely not become angry. And since they will not be angry, they will likely not start a war and attack what is left of our once great country. Oh well! I can use my military or survival skills to protect myself. While you, My Liberal Friends can go hide in the closest gender neutral bathroom.

What will happen to our disjointed country after the attacks from the third world countries? Hmmm??

Will our friends to the south think about annexing us? And if you thought that Andrew Scheer was too conservative for you, wait till Donald Trump gets hold of us.

Yes, my Liberal friends. You must be happy now, that you voted for Trudeau. You have no idea what you have done. But time will tell us which one of us was right.

And if any of you think that I am being over dramatic or over reacting. Remember, you are the same folks who told me that the world was coming to a dramatic end in 12 years. Which scenario is more feasible? The end of the world or the end of Canada?

Unfortunately, if you’re someone who may have committed to being active in a platform, you may experience your own form of bullying by none other than “online trolls”.

News and media have covered the disastrous effects of bullying that have to lead to the mental disturbance and significance discouragements in young pupils who might not have the right idea on how to tackle bullying. But how bad can it be when it is brought towards the internet?

Warning: DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS

The phrase: DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS is one of the crucial internet guidelines when encountering online trolls, and why shouldn’t you? Columbia University’s clinical psychologist, Lauren Hoffman explains that a typical internet troll provokes others by triggering conflict through posts and comments with an aim to garner negative attention. Hoffman further states that trolls live off of those outcomes and dwell into the psychological reward received from their nasty online behavior aimed to hurt others as the main subconscious goal. Thus it is important that while online trolls may escalate their behavior to a more toxic and abusive on in order to gain attention the longer you ignore them, learning to understand where the targeted hate is coming from helps in putting a stop to the abuse (Bryan, C 2018).

Wichita Swatting

Swatting is a form of criminal harassment whereby a false report that may include bomb threats or hostage is given in an attempt to dispatch an emergency service response team i.e a group of armed SWAT military officers to a specified address. The fact that swatting exists in the United States and is still ongoing as a childish trolling act to trigger revenge upon a person over a trivial matter is one of the worst parts for handling conflict against a troll.

In 2017, Casey Viner initiated swatting expert, Tyler Barriss against an argument with Shange Gaskill over a bet of $1.50 in an online match of Call of Duty. The false threat reported that Gaskill has shot his father and was holding his family at gunpoint. There were no SWAT team members that came to Finch’s residence, but Wichita Police Department officers (Queally, J 2018).

Unfortunately, Casey mistook Andrew Finch’s address for Gaskill and Andrew was later shot and killed by officer Justin Rapp even though Andrew followed their instructions to stand down. The death of Andrew Finch, an innocent 28-year old man who was never related to Viner and Gaskill has caused a major awareness towards the hesitant acts of the police force as well as the unforeseen and unfortunate events that was lead from a “harmless” online trolling act (Sommerfeldt, C & Schladebeck, J 2017).

A Trolling Conclusion

The toxic indulgement of bullying users online provides a significant negative impact on those behind a screen. The internet will always have trolls residing in all social media and gaming platforms, but it is up to us to know when we shouldn’t dwell into their unruly comments. It is important to remember that while you don’t have control of your emotions, you can definitely control how you react to it, so don’t feed the trolls.
