I would say, “It’s okay to express your deeper needs. You don’t always have to give superficial, easy answers. People understand there is nuance and depth in every person. It’s okay to ask others for help. It doesn’t mean you’re a taker like your father.”

If I were to tell her this, she would merely smile softly with a far away look in her eye.

(Pour Marinette!) 😭 CRYING - what makes them cry? do they cry easily?

Marinette has two levels of crying.

The first is brought on by experiencing situations from a third-party perspective (e.g. film, music, witnessing others crying or in pain, etc.). These are often silent tears shed in public spaces and help relieve her own emotions through an 'acceptable' outlet.

The latter is firmly rooted in her own anguish, thus much harder to breach the surface. When they do fall, she is quick to wipe them away in hopes others might not notice as she believes it better to cry for others than herself. These 'outbursts' usually happen after blurred nights spent between work and partying- when exhaustion leaves her sitting alone.

What is Marinette like when she is drunk?

Her emotions and behavior are magnified.

Marinette always starts off on a positive note, so she becomes happier and more carefree. Where she might sing or dance in public to cheer up a friend when sober- if under the influence, she will do it with no prompting. In fact, her favorite thing to do is dance. She also becomes more touchy-feely with friends and especially those she's interested in (if they didn't know she liked them before then- they definitely will after).

While I wouldn't say she's a mean drunk, her confrontational habits certainly don't disappear. For instance, if someone tries to cop a feel she will smack them in front of everyone and start telling them off in French. The same can be said if she notices someone else being harassed.

(Pour Marinette!) 🙉 HEAR-NO-EVIL - what is the worst thing your oc could hear from someone?

"You only care about yourself."

If someone says this, all Marinette hears is: You're selfish. Just like your father. No wonder you were his first. While she doesn't make a point to differentiate from his reputation, being likened to his character never sits well- even when others may not realize they're doing it. So when people tell her she is solely concerned with herself it calls into question whether everything she does is in vain. Whether any of it matters.

(Pour Marinette!) 💢 ANGER - what are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

When Marinette feels particularly restless, whether from professional or familial matters, she enjoys solitary strolls through the city. The impulse often strikes her in late evenings either on her way or after she's made it home. Given the hour it isn't always the safest and a handful of times she's found herself in tense situations.

Every morning she enjoys the same breakfast: crêpes salées with chèvre, mushrooms, prosciutto, spinach, tomatoes, lemon zest, and an egg on top. For those living with her it can be jarring to face the same smells every morning, especially since if you ask her for breakfast- she will make those very same crêpes salées.

She is affectionate with those with whom she has a social relationship, greeting and saying goodbye to most people with la bise (an air kiss on each cheek). Culture clashes can ensue where people are put off by it in which case she won't cross boundaries again, but tends not to ask until it's too late.

Marinette will, at some point or another, try to feed those she's built rapport with. It is simply her compulsion and there's no way around it. She will either bring something in for you or offer to host at her home. In fact, if someone has properly known her for longer than a few months and she hasn't offered them food...she is not a fan of them.

Ooh, I can't say I've thought about this in much depth.

Marinette is best suited for modern and historical verses. As of now, her primary ones are modern and the Roman Empire.

I am always up for noir verses or anything set in the past, really. Marinette hasn't been in a fantasy verse as of yet, but I'd be curious to see how she fares.

The only fictional worlds or settings I couldn't imagine her in would be anything futuristic (and possibly science fiction).

(Pour Marinette! Encore une fois :P) 🔫 PISTOL - do they trust people easily? how easily will they turn their back to someone? have they been backstabbed before? will they betray someone if given an ultimatum?

Marinette often gives the impression of "trusting others until given a reason not to", which is not entirely true. While quite open about her life, most things she shares are things she wouldn't mind being spread. When it comes to matters she truly considers private, however, it takes a level of rapport.

If betrayed by someone she is in a platonic or casual relationship with- she will immediately cut them off. The same can be said for familial relationships, unless it's her younger siblings. Romantic relationships are where her resolve teeters; in some instances she will not tolerate it and in other instances she gives grace.

If one were to ask who comes to her mind they say "backstabber", the answer would be her father. Both for how he treated her mother and herself. Aside from him, she has encountered her fair share of betrayals from former friends as well as partners- most notably when she was dismissed from ballet school after being sabotaged by a "friend".

Marinette values her integrity too highly to compromise someone who confided in her. Even if it means she will face consequences. Unless it goes against her personal ethics.

(Pour Marinette!) 💤 SLEEPING - do they fall asleep easily? what helps them sleep?

Marinette is someone who not only falls asleep easily, but also enjoys deep sleep. She attributes this to having lavender bundles in a vase on either side of her bed. This is a lie- she has slept easily since childhood. Nights when she sleeps best, however, are when her bed is shared with a partner. There is something about being wrapped in another's warmth and listening to the thrumming of their heart which lulls her into a sleep like no other.

(Pour Marinette!) 💥 COLLISON - what emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

Loneliness by far. In loneliness she is faced with nothing aside from herself and as someone who's self-worth is rooted in an ability to act as an anchor for others (most notably her siblings)- this can be devastating.

Rejection- particularly romantic, is something she can feign acceptance of, but will devolve inside. This is a consequence of witnessing her father's antics firsthand paired with a string of failed love affairs where parting words often alluded to her simply being "too much".

Sadness or Melancholy. If contained within herself she believes she can handle it fine, masking it from prying eyes. Once tears begin to fall, however, the weight of buried emotions becomes too much to bear.

Marinette's method of 'dealing with' these emotions often manifests in her working to the brink of exhaustion and spending nights in the company of others.

(Pour Marinette!) 📸 CAMERA - do they enjoy having their picture taken? what's their go-to pose? do they like taking photos? what do they take photos of?

Marinette is not one to shy away from cameras, although her preference is for group photos as opposed to standalone. If someone asks for a standalone photo, she will slip into her signature 'hand pose' with a smile, but won't express interest in looking at the photo let alone having a copy for herself.

Her habit with taking photos has been called 'odd' by her sister, Françoise. She only snaps photos of others, but never keeps them. Instead, she sends it along to those in the frame before wiping it from her phone or camera. There is something about holding onto memories from her own lens which strikes a cord in her and she'd ultimately rather leave them in the care of others.

When it comes to fight or flight, Marinette is 'era' dependent. In verses set prior to the 1800s, she is prone to fleeing with a higher sense of self-preservation. In verses set after the 1800s, she is a fighter who welcomes the brunt of confrontation if it spares others- especially those she cares about.
