Back cloth

This morning we marked up all of the panels using the chalk line so that we can see where we need to add the wood grain.

Today we added the idenden to the cloth - this was a really satisfying job! It’s so smooth and really nice to apply.

Woood grain! 

We used the wood grain tools properly for the first time today - they worked so successfully - the texture is looking brilliant. Some of the texture was put on quite thickly so the wood grain has come out really well. We’ll have to make sure when we are doing the floor that we don’t lay the idenden on quite so thickly seeing as there are quite a few props that need to roll over it. 

The  rounded tool compared to the straight tool is definitely more effective in creating a wood grain effect but all of the ‘panels’ alongside each other looks great. 

Idenden finished ! Tomorrow we will be able to start painting.

Sort out the dice today ! Finished cutting out all of the sides - with all of the correct measurements. I am now waiting for the box to be built to take this further - in terms of time management, realistically I might have to see if there is someone else who can do this job as I’m not sure whether I’ll manage it alongside the dolls and the floor/back cloth. 

I also started scaling up my troll today ! 

Mollie told me that she wanted the troll to be around 20/25 cm - when I scaled this up this, I realised that this would be tiny. The body would only be just over 10cm - at this scale it might as well be bought rather than made. I also don’t know how well it would read on stage at this scale. I emailed Mollie today to check in with her to make sure that is definitely the scale that she wants or whether she’d like to make it slightly bigger.
